I love the new grass and snow tiles, but can we please, please, please get them to act like carpet tiles (i.e. - stackable and secured by a double click and do not count against lockdowns?) Pretty pretty please?

Same for me. Even only collecting the gifts on all chars on all accounts makes an item count of 300 or more - per shard!
So why are identical, new things still not stackable in this game?

Personally I actually prefer them the way they are. Why? Because as a Classic Client user, you can actually place items on top of them, unlike with carpet tiles. Sure it would be nice to have them not use lockdowns, but I much prefer the ability to place items on top.

I'd just prefer that they'd have put a bit of variety into it. Like rounded edges so we can make patches of snow.
We know them tiles are allready in game as thats how they decorate the lands when they turn the snow on so why not as gifts?

No difference in the 'pouch' they given out in either and why the heck a dirty green colour???
7x3=21 grass and snow tiles absolutley worthless to me since i have a customisable house allready.
Said it before, these tiles only good for 5% of the game who own a castle or keep.
The only nice thing in the gifts were the new coloured poinsettia's.....and they were a mistake!
Just lazy really. I you can't put effort into something then don't bother.

I have two customisable houses, and I still think the tiles are fantastic. Why? I could list a whole host of reasons, the main one being that not everyone wants to go back in to customisation mode to change tiles. It would take me about a week or so to fix my house if I did, due to all the items that would vanish and the others that would move in to the movement crate. Another reason is that now players can make their garden visible from the outside of the house. Using a specific grey log tile with grass on top. :)

not picking on you, Slayvite, it's just that I keep seeing this about the poinsettias being a mistake and we've had no official confirmation of that being the case... maybe it was that the dirty green color pouches were supposed to be festive Christmas ribbon colors! :)

Check the official post when they announced the X-mas gifts. No mention of plants in their, unless they now mean poinsettia when they write Card. ;)

They should not make them work like carpets. Make them work like deeds and have the deeds stackable. I "hate" the carpet system. I have decorated alot with the carpets and they are basically fecking up my houses. You can drop items on the carpet tiles and when i hit shift+strg all i see is a screen full of carpet handles.

The point is that we should be able to use them without using up lockdowns... And store them in a single stack. Object handles and placing items on top of carpet are seperate issue that should be addressed regardless.

    No, no, no!

Leave them as they are! With carpet tiles, I had the experience of accidentally double-clicking and thus releasing them without realizing. They then decayed and I had to buy new ones. No biggie, as they only cost 130 gold or so. With reward tiles, that cannot be that easily replaced, I want to be safe and have them locked down.

Agree 100%, having done my holiday trading I have about 800 or so of both types.

I make the assumption that the reason for giving grass and snow tiles was for those of us who like to deco. Also as a concession to those with classic houses that do NOT have the ability to customize and to produce snowy and grassed areas.

    Right now the options are:

    * gozas (don't stack but take NO lockdowns when in use, can have deeded items placed on them and may be raised to glorious heights for fantastic deco use, do not highlight yellow on every tile). So basically I use them and throw them away when not in use. Can be done as you can craft more later if you want to.
    Or
    * carpets (stack and do not take lockdowns, highlight yellow on every tile *yuk*, have issues with some items when placed ie I had to remove carpet to get teleport tiles to work, cannot be raised so limited to floor use only, easy to accidentally un-click and decay) I will store them if not using as they do stack.

Both options end up with a gazillion object handles when using cntl shft. Both use NO lockdowns when in use.

The NEW snow and grass tiles have the worst of both types, they do not Stack and they take a lockdown both in containers and on the floor, you cannot replace them if you toss them away as you can't craft them or purchase them.

I wanted enough to be able to put snow on my castle in winters for deco purposes, to do the 'roof' on my castle takes 520 tiles. So I either have to store 520 snow or grass tiles or both (1040 lockdowns) to have the option to use the tiles. And this would be a permanent addition to my lockdown count. Equates to 14% of my total storage on a 60% increased storage castle.

    Ideally:
Gozas - (if they are the same hue and size) should be made stackable.
Carpets - should 'placed' and 'removed' like gozas (ie clicked and targeted then axed to remove), so that they may be raised and to get rid of the awful yellow highlighting on every floor tile in your house and so that you are not always accidentally releasing them to decay.
Snow/Grass - should be able to have "like" pieces stack, should NOT count towards lockdowns when placed and should be 'placed' and 'removed' like gozas. (ie clicked and targeted then axed to remove)

It would be really nice to have some consistency with these items.

Due to the lockdown factor, I will hang on to mine for a short period just in case something is done to change the exisiting properties. If not unfortunately I will need to give them away or bin them, but right now it looks like the bin as most of my friends have the same issue with the tiles.

Some Dev love on this issue would be appreciated. Perhaps a question for the Ask and Answer could be put up, Ie can gozas, carpet and snow/grass be treated as the ideal listed above?

    Cheers

i can see myself making floating staircases with these tiles such as we do with gaza mats. floating with 1 end against a wall.
or perhaps like the floating stair steps in movie Avengers out in space to Thanos

They dont work that well for walking on and you will tend to fall through them at times. So you will need a goza to set them on and if they are on the same plane as the goza itself then you will be disappointed every other day at server up since the new grass tiles will be hidden by the goza. This actually goes for the all the lava tiles and swamp tiles as well.

Please Devs make these tiles into Gozas!

    Yes. Its called constructive criticism.

Whoever designed the goza in UO definately had the people in mind who like to deco. Why cant they just piggy back on what works well and add some new designs for it?

    Radugast,

You are one of my dear and oldest friends. My comments were directed at all of you. Not you particularrly

I know You have your castles built out to the most brilliant possibilities, If any of you have not seen them you are missing out, This posses a challenge to you and some choices to make.

Frankly you have already made a few of them. If you had a custom plot you could chose grass or snow at will.

A Castle now these tiles are golden. I have already been through several that have executed on the new gifts. Amazing things have been done.

I find this overall thread to be unthankfull of the opportunity presented by the gifts of these tiles.

Get to work you designers and see what you can do.

Radugast you need another castle for expansion of your museum anyway :) Time to start looking

Please no, as carpet tiles is a pain to place items on top off, I can live with the extra lockdowns

This! Make them into Gozas, and make Goza deeds stackable. Problem solved and everybody wins.
