Just wondering why UO chose to stay with a grid based system for all of its years
Maybe it's just like that really nice haircut you like. Go with it for so long you just don't want to change it
Do you have an example of a live game that has switched? Seems to me that a grid, once created, is quite literally the foundation of the game.
Grid-based games have much simpler collision detection, and it's very hard to change something from grid-based to free-form.
