Draconi posted his farewell to UO and EA on his Facebook page.
UO is screwed...
Can you post a link please?
gee, ya think?
<mutters an obscenity not allowed on Stratics - outside OT>
Now sure how to post a link to there but here's his quote: "Tim Cotten After four glorious years at EA on Ultima Online at last the final day has come and gone! Farewell UO and Mythic - I'll miss you all =D And now on to crazy fun adventures of my own choosing... mwahahahaha"
See if this link works:
for those that do not have face book here is what Tim said!
Tim Cotten After four glorious years at EA on Ultima Online at last the final day has come and gone! Farewell UO and Mythic - I'll miss you all =D And now on to crazy fun adventures of my own choosing... mwahahahaha
Good luck in your new adventures! You will be missed!
I knew he was gone, but until now it didn't really sink in.
Now it has, and I'm very sad.
you are greatly missed
Youll be very much missed Draconi...
*chuckles* I still owe him some beers...
I suspect he will do alright. I figure we will too.
Please, Stratics, give him an ID with a capitalized first letter.
He deserves more than that...
capitals are over rated...
God, yes please.
Must've happened when they merged the accounts (which I was thankful for of course!)
Meanwhile, thanks for the well wishes everyone! All things have worked out exactly according to plan, hence the "mwahahaha" ^_^
Now I just need to find that 'farewell letter' I wrote and post it myself somewhere... oh well, you guys know I love you right?
So is kelmod...
Can I get some sort of beer-to-liquor exchange ratio on that?
no words could say how much we appreciated all your hard work
thanks for all you've done until next time, happy hunting Draconi
My appreciation for what you have done for UO is boundless.
Next time you are in the Atlanta area, let me know, drinks (and food) are on me.
It's good to see your name again. I, for one, have mixed emotions. You know there are a lot of players who thought highly of you (still do!), myself included. It's really not a good feeling knowing you are not going to be setting more impressive fires and all. Then again, you seem to be happy! I guess it is safe to assume you are doing fairly well and are looking forward to whatever the future holds for you, so... that is the best news!
Wishing you peace and happiness...
I dunno what to say, except I returned to UO after 8 years gone largely because of your work.
Draconi, I stopped playing UO in the year you took over (unrelated details, I had a lot of personal life nonsense that soured UO for me).I can honestly say that the game I returned to, after your leadership, was a game I hadn't experienced and played in a much longer time than that. You and the team brought Ultima back to life in a grand way.
I wish you every luck in the future, in whatever mongbatless-place you find yourself, and hope all goes well!
I am intrigued.
You darn well better let us know what you're up to! And if it's some top secret UO2 project..... Well.. Failure to inform us will result in fires YOU CAN NOT CONTROL!!!! /rageflame
In all seriousness, I'll echo the sentiments so far and say thank you for all you've done. You will be and are missed, and we wish you well, but please keep in touch!
You have already been missed, and will be missed for all the work and energy you put into this game. Perhaps the UO Producer position will come available soon, and you will be their first choice! Either way, best of luck in your future endeavors, and know you are sorely missed here.
Guess this means no more barbeques in Luna and I need to take my ale and sausage cart elsewhere? <whimper>
Please let us know that you have a pyromaniac understudy!
Gary Gygax is to D&D as Draconi is to UO.
Was fun while it lasted.
aw no , now you made me think of what could have been...UO2 :'(
This can't be good..........
Well, not EXACTLY, as Gygax created D&D...
But yes. Draconi did a LOT for the game during his tenure, most of all which was introduce things that brought back theh 'spirit' of UO. The Magincia invasion storyline and way the city 'blew apart' was probably the most radical concept I've seem in UO, ever, since its inception.

may you have interesting times!!!!!!!!!!
you have given us some so deserve a few
Actually, I was thinking more in line with Peter Adkison.
When TSR (the company that owned D&D/AD&D) was on the verge of bankruptcy, Peter (founder and CEO of Wizards of the Coast) stepped in, bought up TSR, paid all of its debt. If it wasn't for him, TSR would have folded.
Then, WotC went on to be bought by Hasbro (which really only bought Wizards because of Pokemon, but that's another story), which gutted alot of WotCs product lines and fired 75% of it's development staff. Sound familar?
I just mentioned your winter wonderland a day or 2 ago to show the creativity that passion and free reign could do.
Still, I am glad things are working out for you.
Fare thee well on thy journeys ahead.
