Has anyone ever considered that with all the recent dupes and bannings for such stupid things as a bugged quiver, that this is EA's way of bringing UO to an end? I mean think about this for a min....your a large company and you want to kill off a game that has been around forever. If you say the game is done and close the servers you **** off every subscriber you have and those subscribers will never play your games again. BUT if you trash the game intentionally to where no one wants to play it then your still pissing off your subscribers but they will probably still play a game that your company puts out. You use cop outs like......"the code is old and takes alot of time" and "we are working as fast as we can to fix this"

Sounds like a lot of BS to me. I at one time had 7 accounts....I am now down to 5 but I am seriously considering pulling my credit card info off and letting them cycle out. Being as I have been inactive for the last several months. (Never really get to play when its summertime).

    Just a thought.....

    Yes, occurred to me, too.

Alternatively, maybe some disaffected employee in EA is deliberately sabotaging the game for personal reasons?

Or even, just total incompetance? Like mixing up the list of bug-dupe-etc-reporters with the list of exploiters?

That is nonsense. If they'd want to shut down the game, they would just do so. You read too much conspiracy theory novels. This is a computer game!

Normally I would agree - but since so much that's happening here recently doesn't seem to make any sense if you apply normal rules of behaviour, we have to look to the unusual to supply some kind of explanation.

Yes, and they use the money made from UO to fund street gangs and cow tipping on New Guinea.
When the latter gets out, UO is doomed for sure!

They ban to keep the game fair. Even if if they lose 1% of the subscribers (which is like 1000 paying accounts!) and it pleases 99%, it's a good investment.
As Jeremy already stated, most cheaters don't really pay for the accounts either. They just hack, cheat, fraud their way into their accounts.

I thought they used the money off UO to fund Pinky and the Brain.

If they wanted to pull the plug they'd just pull the plug.

Actually, I heard that the Reticulans are behind it. After they backed the Reptilians in perpetrating the Kennedy assasination they setup a long term plot to lure humans into playing an online game. Part of the plan was to slowly subvert and subtly sabotage that game. Once the humans playing it were depressed it would make them easier to abduct so the Reticulans could probe their orifices in an attempt to create an alien-human hybrid.

That makes about as much sense. :danceb:

No, basically game developers are just often stupid.

Look at Mythic, they made an expansion so bad they had to make a retro server.

SWG with an New gaming experience so bad it drove may gamers away.

And then UO developers again with AOS and deciding that doing what they want is what customers need.
