Has anyone noticed an improvement in BOD recieved?

Discussion in 'UHall' started by imported_Hanna, Feb 25, 2008.

1. I thought having more skill was suppose to improve your bod odds.

I turned in 20 old larges that I had plus 40+ single bods with a 120 tailor.

Not only was there no improvement in the quality of BODs, they were actually much worse then I had ever gotten.

When I turn in I wait till I have at least 50 BODs, but never more than 100. So I am very aware of my normal results.

I don't think Tailoring was affected, only Smithing to getting the better quality deeds on turn in.

Mainly because the smithing BOD system is SO much larger and top end deeds are SO much harder to get than tailoring.

3. Pretty sure you're right there Dermott of LS ; NMA ...
I'm unaware of any Tailor changes ... other than to the runics ...

hmmm
oh yeah! ... Basara "broke out" why that maybe ... here

Yeah...

If you run the numbers, even with the massive increase in BOD quality that Smiths recieved, it is STILL about 100 times more likely for a Tailor to get a BOD for a Barbed RSK than it is for a Smith to get the corresponding Hammers' BODS (valorite or verite).

And, 100 times is not hyperbole - we actually went through the numbers, and it came out to be about 1/50 for tailors, and about 1/5000 for a smith!

5. only smith was affected by the turn in part. Smith and tailor runics were both affected tho.

I been playing the BOD lotto since that publish went live. Only thing
noteworthy was the LBOD for 15 Normal Iron Plate. Nothing other out
of the ordinary with 120 Smith or 120 Tailor.

Undoubtedly just the RNG, but the first week I received 2 tailor lbods giving barbed runic kits. The odds still stacked against smiths...with 4 legendary smiths, 1 at 115, 2 more at 110+, and a couple of accounts full of GMs inching toward higher skill, I have gotten 1 normal valorite bod and the rest the regular junk.

I got a val 20 ex bod since the pub. It was for shields - but at least it was a val 20 ex. I had zero in 5 years up to this point.

It is a noticeable jump - but you still get 45% Iron smalls.

Yep, I got 3 or 4 Val deeds... 1 Large plate set and the rest smalls in the large group I turned in over the course of a week.

Smithing HAS gotten a bump.

The improvement is noticable but the high end bods are still hard to come by. This is the experience of my four 120 and one 115 smiths.

In this thread, I estimated the chance to pull a verite hammer level small BOD is about 0.1% to 0.15%, or one in 700-1000; the chance to pull a valorite hammer level small BOD is about 0.025% - 0.04%, or 1 in 2500-4000 .

I turned in about 150 smithy bods the other day. I was very happy with the colored bod return. Much better than I normally do. And I got 2 Val. bods. Which is 2 more than I had recieved over the last year.

I, like many others I guess, actually saved up a heap of bods waiting for the publish. Since then I've handed in approx 400 smith bods and have noticed a slight, repeat slight, increase in the number of Coloured bods but no difference at all in the quality. I've had a few more low level colours, Dull, Shadow, Copper etc, but nothing to indicate any real improvement.
I am still yet to collect a Valorite bod filler, I did get a Val Sbod about 6 months ago for some shields, have never collected an LBod for Valorite in all the years I've been doing them. And I've had only 2 Verite LBods in the same time frame.
Maybe the RNG hates me, but if there was any great effort made to improve the bod system with the last publish, it was pretty ineffectual at best.

IMHO, if the devs are serious about improving Smith Bods, they should cut the percentage of Iron Weapon Bods, both Small and Large by at least 50%, personally I'd be very pleased to see them wiped altogether.

I have, in 3 turn-in sessions, turned in 397 BODs for replacements. Here's the results of Agapite & better BODs

Agapite (Ring/chain/plate/non-combinables)
Normal 1 / 1 / 1 / 3 Total: 6
Exceptional 1 / 0 / 2 / 6 Total: 9
Larges 1 (chain)
Total Agapite: 16/397

Verite (Ring/chain/plate/non-combinables)
Normal 2 / 1 / 0 / 2 Total: 5
Exceptional 1 / 2 / 0 / 2 Total: 5
Larges 1 (plate)
Total Verite: 11/397

Valorite:
3 (all normal non-combinables)

Total Agapite-Valorite BODs: 30/397

This is a remarkable improvement over the past (where I got 3 Valorite BODs in 5 years, from many times more BODs than just this small sampling).

The RNG does hate you [IMG]

I've been championing an idea for years that would do wonders about the number of weapons BODs....

1. Move the non-combinable armor smalls to the weapon side of the decision tree.
2. If "colored" comes up instead of iron, force the resulting weapon & famer side from #1 to produce a famer BOD, instead of the color indication being lost.

This would make 50% of all BODs armor combinables (instead of the current 28%), and would reduce the number of weapons BODs to 25% (below 110 - or as the system was before the color bonus, at all levels), 15% (110-119.9) or 5% at Legendary.

After all, while a lot of the non-combinables are rather bad, they are better than weapons bods (12 metal/quantity/quality combinations result in POF, another two in chances for the elusive colored anvil, and many also produce low end ASH and runics that are now much more effective - a good talisman & an ASH +15 as good as an ASH +30 (used without a talisman) for most crafting).

16. I turned in another 150 Bods yesterday, and got 5 Aggy's, 3 Verites, and 1 Val 15 Exc plate, which is for a Verite hammer. 1 of the Verite's was also a Verite hammer Bod. This is my second Val Bod since the change. I'd say there was a huge improvement.
