I was just fighting one on my archer. and no word of a lie, i missed about 18 from 20. and the 2 i actually hit him with, 1 was parried.

is there some sort of hidden dci boost that bushido dexxers get against archers? Or should i just stone off everything and make another type? cause my archer sucks against other dexxers

And yes I am HCI capped and 120 archery

Bushido dexxers have the best chance to parry, and parry is pretty much an archer's worst nightmare. Also I guess you'd have to consider whether the player had hit lower attack on his weapon.

I trust you have Bush your self...I find Lightning Strike works well.

Also wear M&S and Imbue HLD on your weapon, when it hits you may sneak in three in a row for your kill.

They changed HLD and HLA. The time duration for archers now is less than the time for a third swing. This means you pretty much need 100% HLD or HLA to get the affect planted. I don't think the cure to the OP's problem is a lack of HLD.

Hows this for blind luck. I was playing my bushido parry macer and was fighting an archery who hit me 10 out of 10 times even after i hit my evade macro. so how did this happen with 120 bush macing and parry and 60 dci with me hitting him with lower attack and lower deffence.

The dexxer couldnt hit me. AT ALL.

I had like 80 HLD. But I couldnt hit him in the first place to get it planted on him.

    So just sheer bad luck?

  8. A year ago that was this exploit, that allowed one's combat skill to go beyond the cap, essentially making such an exploit abuser an inexplicable pvp god (ie. you keep missing him, but he keeps hitting you).

The Devs eventually found it and disabled it, so this particular exploit no longer exists. But for a long time, many people on the forums just accused the victims of being crybaby sore losers. Until the Devs announced (months later) that they found the exploit and have just fixed it.

Hm, so the dexxer couldnt hit you and you couldn't hit him.

Maybe play a mage? lol that's a RNG joke, sorry, had to.

Some things for you to know: HLD doesn't stack by addition, so 50+30 is actually less than 80.

    From UO.com:
"A successful hit with this weapon lowers the defense rating of the target by 25% for 8 seconds against all attackers. There is no cap on HLD. HLD percentages are multiplied rather than added - for example, if you have two items, one with a 30% chance and one with a 50% chance, then that's a 65% chance that the effect will fire on any given hit. The effect does not stack with itself, although additional effects will reset the duration."

And if a person has 70 DCI then HLD doesn't do anything. I know what you're talking about is actually hitting the guy, but just wanted to pop this info up since we're on the subject.

I find that every mage has some special HCI thing going, every spell they cast seems to hit me ever since AoS came out.

Yeah I knew that. It is actually 2 rolls at the HLD. Roll 1 would be at 50% chance. Roll 2 would be at 30% chance to hit.

Yea the guy would only just have 45 DCI, since he refuses to imbue his items.

And FYI. My main is a mage :p I just play my archer when I am feeling lazy and want to feel frustrated. lol... Or when its like 5v1.. Since PvP on Oceania is quite skewed numbers wise

Np nothing wrong with archers. I mean a mage can use bolas, but in a teamfight eventually someone has to use an archer unless you can use a choke point. Just a tease on the RNG. I'd have to say it's rather satisfying to play a dismount archer ;P but of course the moving shot has been even cheesier for so long now hehe ;p.

You know, I refuse to dismount and use moving shot... But I am a pre-aos archer too... So I am quite used to the stop start of a archer..

Personally, I think Dismount should be withdrawn from most weapons, except Lance(due to RP/Event Reason) and Bolas. Although I think Bolas should have a chance to miss... But thats just my thoughts. I am probably the only one though.

Publish 69 changed the uo.com quote you provided for ranged weapons

Reducing Hit Lower Attack and Hit Lower Defense proc duration on ranged weapons:

Currently Hit Lower Attack proc duration is 10 seconds for all weapons; ranged weapons will now have duration of 7.

Currently Hit Lower Defenseproc duration is 8 seconds for all weapons; ranged weapons will now have duration of 5.

If you had contacted the dexxer and the proc went off the five seconds would only be long enough for possibly one more shot, but likely not a shot from a heavy unless you are using moving shot and have 55 SSI and full stamina.

You're dealing with an "as designed and intended" situation. The balance is that you can't kill him and hopefully he can't kill you because you will run or a friend will show...Archery in PVM works though.

True, I should have clipped the quotation. The change of duration was mentioned earlier in this thread, but my main focus was how HLD stacks.

No dismount or moving shot? Ouch. Well mortal and concussion are nice still :).

Bolas tied to tactics has been a thought, I think for sure. I guess dismount is a questionable ability, like disarm. Sometimes I feel like dismount is the only way--other than fields--to even a playing field when you had a group using speeder programs and the like.

    Got it.

To Clog|MOrdain, you may want to consider teaming up with some dexxers. Archers work better now only in the background. If you can get a wall of dexxers to shoot over then your contribution would be great. They would knock off the opponents DCI for 8 seconds or continuous allowing you to get multiple hits with your weapon. In this scenario velocity, HF or HL and maybe even a hit area would work well.

Nope. He did not pop evade once.... All I heard was Whoosh!

Problem with that is, There are only 3 in my current guild. And do not plan to change, I love the challenge of being outnumbers, sometimes 3:1 odds.

Yea :/ I've since retired my archer, since alot of the dexxers on Oceania atm are bushido variants of some sort.

So I'm sticking with my Wrestle mage atm
