There appears to be an issue with boats anchored off the shore nw of Yew. These boats are being used as bases to escape to for pvp'rs that are flagged. Not only that, but I have been told (and this is second hand info, so correct me if I am wrong) that these boats (at least on Atlantic) are unsinkable because access to them is blocked in some way. Hopefully someone with some more info can explain why this is, or how this works.

    True.
The boats are parked 3+ deep, so while you can sink the outer boats and board them, the inner boats remain unharmed. (Keeping the boats refreshed is not a problem, these boats have been here for months and anyone who clicks on them can refresh them, even without boarding privledges)
There are no flagging rules for boarding/disboarding boats.
There is not much you can do to combat this. The flagging rules would have to be changed, and the roleplay community has argued against this.

There are so many boats outside my house in Yew I cannot place my own boat within 3 screens in either direction.

All they have to do is implement a way to sink boats with regular spells/explosion potions. I don't think that would take away from the roleplay community's fun, and would be fun for the pvpers as well. Stand on shore and throw explosion pots and fire fields and meteor storms and hail storms until the boat is damaged enough to board. Problem is right now we can't do that.

Give the Dev's time. People have only been complaining about this since high seas came out. They Dev's are too busy making changes to the game that nobody wants to change something payers ask for.

while I do loathe parking lot sprawl, I would hate to see the rules for boats be altered for the sake of Atl pvp. Three deep you say? I know the first two can be scuttled and boarded. One could easily cast spells from those boats to kill someone seeking refuge on an inner boat. (not to mention you could hit them from land too if they were on the inner boat)

But hey, that's too much work right?

Why not just install a no parking zone in that particular area that works like the Magincia docks or the floating dock?
-problem solved and no rules have to be changed.

I said 3+ deep. You can't reach the boat that would let you get into casting distance of the people on the next boat. They are also not in casting distance of land. I'm sorry you don't understand.

It would have to be along any coastline. Plenty of folks are parking their boats near their houses and this isn't an issue. Those people should not be punished.
The people exploiting the aggro flagging rules need to be stopped. Not everyone. You shouldn't punish a person just for having a boat along a coastline.

Either give a way to sink them, or apply the same rules to boats as they already have applied to housing when it comes to them being "parked" close to land.

  16. They need to look at flagging in general.

Why should a blue who flags to red be able to enter the elf city?

Why should a blue sitting in guard zone casting cleansing winds on guild mates that are flagged to reds and not become flagged?

Why should a blue who is flagged be able to jump on a boat?

If we were at sea and I attacked and killed you, I'd damned sure I'd be pissed if I couldn't get on your boat to take all your stuffs.

Likewise, I'd hate to be able to get on your scuttled boat and then have to wait around before I could get back on mine. Blue or not, that would be ridiculous.

Prohibiting long term parking near the Yew shoreline is a viable solution with a very low impact.

Flagging and boat parking in Yew both need to be addressed. A lot of valid points and good ideas here. Fel def needs to be worthy of earning its "high risk high reward" system by getting a flagging revamp, it's sad that reds are confined to one facet and the game is constantly changing more towards phasing their capabilities out. You are in Fel. Make the guardzones around the moongates 2-3 tiles, fix the flagging issues with players being able to "pvp" by healing a player flagged for combat from the guardzones, and get rid of the cheap Elf city/boat hopping getaways.

I guess Heartwood, in your perspective, it should be fixed too...

This thing is a little confusing for me because I'm not so familiar with how those high seas boats were meant to be used. If you're supposed to be able to PVP from them, then it would seem that you're supposed to be able to move around/off/on them while flagged.

But then, if they are being used as an unreachable safe zone obviously something should change.

As an immediete thing, perhaps the offending boats could be moved elsewhere (by a GM) and some temporary means made to prevent this from recurring in the short term. Objects in the water which prevent boats from navigating into those spots may work. Or signs in the water warning players not to do it, if it's physically impossible to prevent.

Damaged boats should be flat out destroyed. Not boarded, destroyed. keep in mind, very few pvpers have High Seas on any of their accounts. Hell if you dont play a dexer, there isnt any reason to even have Stygian abyss on more than 1 account.

I went to cats to have a look. Five boats total. Hardly 3+ deep. If you look closely, the dark one is the one that cannot be scuttled and boarded. ALL OTHER BOATS IN THIS PIC CAN BE SCUTTLED AND BOARDED.

They are also close enough to the center boat that if they were scuttled you could easily board them (the surrounding boats) and kill the person on the center one.

Stop pancakes about this obvious non-issue -get off your asses and scuttle his boats.

Incorrect. There are more boats out there.
We've scuttled the ones we can multiple times.

And here's a SS of ATL.
Keep in mind also... you can't see all the boats. Only so many/a certain distance loads on the radar map. As you sail out more will load. Non-issue my ass.
(At one point there were 13 boats on Catskills, I haven't been on to count them lately.
Let's at least attempt to give people credit that they know what they are talking about with this issue.

ATL is absolutely worse. I agree, that would be a problem even for this pirate. Catskills is sort of a joke though -rank amateurs over there I guess.

I still maintain that a no parking zone along the shoreline is the most reasonable solution. It wouldn't effect most shores as no one fights on say, Fire Island or the Skara Brea coastlines. Just all around Yew.

A 20 minute timer should do the trick. Problem solved.

P.S. they could let us mount a heavy cannon on a row boat... That would be fun

Sir your screen shot does not include the boats outside of the radar update range. I suggest you invest more effort into your argument... which is clearly just for the sake of arguing... lets be honest.

Point is, flagging in pvp combat and then being able to retire to a safe area in which there is no way to get to (while they are still flagged), is an exploit of our simple game mechanics, plain and simple.

In the case of heartwood, you can pursue anyone inside with faction blue characters and kill them if you are skilled enough.

I believe he meant the boats out past them, the ones you can only see if off the shore and on a boat yourself.
