    If you encounter us on SP, remember we came to SP with the idea of IMPLIED CONSENT. If you are on SP it's to PvP, plain and simple. If you came here to place a house because your old shard was too full, then tough ****, you're in the wrong place. People can argue with us (and they did), but seeing how hated we are, and all we did was kill people on what we view as the PvP shard, all I can say is that it looks like we proved they are in the wrong place. To me, while killing new is not a challenge and it's not very sporting, it's also not terribly wrong. On Rentest someone portaled from Trammel to Feluccia right in front of us. Did we spare him? Hell no, we wasted him faster that Thrandarian runs from a magic arrow. PvP... Thats what OGD's about. When we started playing here, no one said "wait! don't kill them, they are newbies!" and we wouldn't expect them to. And that's all I have to say about that...

    NEW has been around a long time... and I agree with Rico, Siege wasn't the PvP only shard, it was the VET shard. A place for people to go for something different and more difficult than a standard shard.

    I initially came to Siege because I felt prodo shards were boring and spit out gold. Placing our first house was HUGE here, because you couldn't sell to vendors. I didn't get into PvP until about 2 years after I started Siege.

    This one came as a dungeon rogue and t-hunter. Then migrated to thief, with only limited pvm. Never have really been into the pvp much. Siege was perfect ticket to get away from crowded prodo shard

    If you encounter me at all on SP, I want you to remember you came to SP with
    the idea of IMPLIED CONSENT. Most likely you will just quickly kill me on sight.
    This is not a new occurence to me. But, I want you to know that I use the
    premise that if you make needless hatred toward me, I will imploy the premise
    that the game is over between us. I will careless about who you are or what
    your game is. I will ignore you forever or atleast as long as memory last. You
    will be watched and avoided. So, no more in-game interplay will occur.
    Many people on this shard do avoid unnecessary conflicts. We are good at doing this!
    I do not mind purposeful play. Unfortunately, that type of play
    is subject to the idea of IMPLIED CONSENT.

    Frankly, you will get bored some day, I am sure.
    I am hard to find.

    -No Item Insurance on Siege Perilous.
    -Each character is allowed ONE Siege Blessing via clicking character to pull up context menu. (You can drop item on floor to drop Siege Blessing, or bless another item)
    -Siege Perilous works off a Rate over Time (RoT) skill gain system instead of Guaranteed Gain System (GGS). RoT starts at 70 and new RoT timer begins [Insert time here] every day.

    -Every facet, i.e. Felucca, Ilshenar, Malas, and Tokuno Islands run under the Felucca rule set. Meaning, all these areas are allowed aggressive actions such as; stealing, flagging, killing.
    -Siege Perilous is meant to be the harder shard, the "Veteran" shard. Which means, resources aren't as easy to come by, and certain resources such as ore/wood aren't sold via NPC or faction vendors. NPC items tend to be 3xs the cost of a production shard.
    -The new Faction items are 5xs the cost of a production shard.
    -If you want help to get started on Siege Perilous, NEW is the place for you. They help get you on your way and provide the tools and items needed to work your character.
    -The Siege Perilous community is a close one, and there are many willing players to help you out in any way they can.

    *If you were to give Siege Perilous a chance, we promise you will not miss Trammel or Item Insurance.*

    I came to place a house, stayed for the interesting community that quickly developed here, and stayed even longer because this shard got me hooked on pvp. What kind of history are you looking for? GC and UDL held the best gold faucets of early siege, Orc/UND were very strong, and OGD was also a fairly imposing force at that time. CWS was getting it's start as a small guild called CGG. I probably know more about CWS' early history than alot of the others since I was a big part of it.

    When did Siege start? How is related to Abyss? There was a restart? Anything else that might jog someone's memory... It is all good. I will look through every thing posted in this and various other topics to be posted in the near future.

    Siege replaced Abyss. I had a character on Abyss then the wiped it so I made Spree and Skyler on Siege they wiped that too after a few weeks. I remade Spree and Skyler when the restarted Siege but didn't play because i was pissed that my characters where wiped. I started playing again when Rico spammed the old Ianstorm Boards about coming to Siege about 6 years ago.

  14. I will write up some stuff and paste it in, when I get some time tommorow.

    I don't know much about the rules changes to Seige and stuff in the past, since I've basically played the same template since 2000 but event and history of the many guilds on this server I know alot about. I will defer to Tibs on the history of the start up of CWS, as he was here for that.

    A quick run down of events that pop to mind....

    --The cursed Keep
    --Attacking the shadowclan/UND guilds in thier caves full of gold
    --The Demon of Yew story line
    --The roleplay of Dark Tower, LDH
    --the real fight nights at the Shire
    --the live chess games we used to have
    --server line pvp when people were training, the attackers of them and us defenders
    --rp with DROW, rp with the guild that would not allow you to wear metal in ther lands(i can't remeber the name of them off hand)
    --ICQ coming in and going out---Help JD in Shire, or Avalon, Cove or other areas
    --one of the best events ever on Siege, the Siege Olympics

    alot more of course, but a quick off the top of my head list, that I can expand on later.

    Safe Haven was siege's first player run town and a big inspiration for what I, at least, had in mind for Wispwood. People congregated and "town sat" outside guards there, had vendors, and it was considered a neutral zone. Most guilds respected the neutrality but thier were also quite a few that did not; both anti and pk. SHR (safe haven regulators) were a group of reds that tryed to enforce the neutrality law around the area. I was a member shortly before the original AOE and CGG merged to become CWS. Wispwood soon became a similar type establishment but was given a more rp flavor when Grot and a few other hardcore rpers returned from an extended break.
    We had a pretty memorable war with UND and orc over a house I placed smack in the middle of UND's lich fields (drylooting and res-killing were fairly rampant on both sides). I finnally ended the war at the behest of some of the less pvp minded members of CWS by selling the House to Boz for 4x the price it cost me to place it. I still like to think I did accomplish what I set out to do with CWS and am happy to see it has survived the test of time thanks to players who came after me with thier own ideas.

    Ok here is some facts, I will try to look at the old community later.

    First a little Siege song:

    The Siege rules as they was the first year:
    1. No stat loss - all the other shards did still have stat loss
    2. No recall
    3. No gating in and out of of dungeon.
    4. Only one char on an account
    5. Red and grey can't kick/ban from houses.
    6. Red and grey will clean the ban list in houses, they are friend of, when they use the door.
    7. NPC vendors take 3X the price for their wares.
    8. NPC won't buy your wares - they did sell resources the first years
    9 Player vendors take 3X fee for working
    10. The murderer title is gone for good. - the murderer title was still on normal shards
    11. No bounty system
    12. Guards at the houses is peacefull, they do not attack reds. - There was some plans about guards in player houses on all shard, think it was dropped before it hit the shards
    13. RoT, Rate over Time skill gain for non resourse using skills. - It started as 0 in skills and trust me it was slow so we had alot archers and mages as that was not RoT skills
    14. No Trammel

    The start:
    When the shard was up first time, before the wipe, it was without RoT and a few other rules that was added after the wipe. Alot did start but sadly, many did not come back after the wipe.

    Siege Perilous: NPC Escorts Jul 30 1999 5:10PM
    We have received many support calls on the Seige Perilous shard regarding escorting NPCs. A player may only escort one NPC every 15 minutes.

    Siege Perilous Update Aug 13 1999 5:21PM
    After Siege Perilous returns from its 5am CST scheduled maintenance on Saturday, August 14, the following changes will be implemented:
    • You will no longer be able to mark any runes in a dungeon.
    • You will not able to gate into or out of a dungeon, even with a previously marked dungeon rune.
    • It will not be possible to place boats in a dungeon.
    • Any boats currently in a dungeon will be deleted automatically after the maintenance.

    ROT and got Power Hour:
    We lost ROT and got Power Hour, that was very bad for Siege. Players could nor build a PvP char in 5 days and the shard was over runned of PK wannabe with trammy shard attitude and it damaged the community to much. 100 Roxxor instead of one was not fun, special not for the many RP guilds like ORC

    Removal of RoT from Siege Perilous Nov 3 2000 11:56AM
    The Rate over Time (RoT) system will be removed from the Siege Perilous shard entirely. Skill gains will function as on regular shards.

    New RoT version:
    After almost a year we got RoT back in a newer version, the one we had until last tweak. We also lost training from npc's and got Ilshenar.
    I don't think we saw the changes to monster loot for reds

    We lost this rules when we got the house secure rules and the customize houses we have now.

    When we still had refresh on houses, the door was the way to refresh the house. On Siege, it did also effect the ban list houses on Siege.

    If a red who own or are friended to a house open the door it would reset the ban list so any player or monster on the list would be deleted and the list would be emty.

    So not everyone was willing to friend a red to their house.

    It was before we got the auto ban from private houses. The front door in public houses could not be locked so shop owners needed their ban list to keep PK's and thieves out.

    I came to siege after a 3 year break from UO, i was bored of never having any real risk factor in what i was doing, i had 6 multi GM chars on europa and a large house.... I had it all and no need for any player interaction because i had all i needed across my chars... so i quit, but still deep down i loved the game!

    i was reading through chad sexingtons misadventures and i came to the episode where he relocated to siege..... i had not really ever know anything about siege then i saw... no insurance, no selling to vendors, no care bear land.... i was smiling, I blew off the dust from my account and created a char.... within 5 mins i came across Kage and another player (may have been baal???) i was introduced to siege via flamestrike then res came and escorted to a bank, i was given 12k in gold and a set of armor and a half decent wep.... and the rest as they say is history :) i later lost that account and got another that was ML upgraded, I am now in NEW and am about to leave and join another guild... the thing that makes siege so great for me is although many people have more than 1 account there is still a great need for other people, its harder to train, its harder to get rich and you dont have to have billions of gold to be running in top equipment, The PvPers are the best around, the PvMers are the best around..... and for the most part anyone you bump into will help you out, you might get killed first but for pittys sake, this is siege... wouldn't have it any other way.

    I have a house, i have an ok suit and a few hundred k in the bank, on europa i had a tower multi milions and gimped out chars and was bored. here i have little but always have something to do :)

    There had been many guilds on Siege over the 9½ year the shard had been up. Most of the guilds are long forgotten and I only have the tags from some old lists, I can't remember the names. Some names I was able to look up.
    Some of the tags I remember better than others and a few is still here.
    DTA, CWS, LDH and ^7^ had been there most of the time.
    NEW and TDO are on new stones (guilds), I do however have the the old TDO tag on one of my inactive chars.
    Luxor took down NEW when we lost RoT and got powerhour and it only took a week to make a char. NEW was not needed for that.
    I rebuilded NEW when we got RoT back in the new version but I did only run it a year. I did not have the energi and got some RL problems too so I had to give up and I handed the guild to Shalimar who still run it and do an amazing job, no idea where she get the energi from. Shalimar deserve alot of respect for what she had done for NEW and the shard.

    Stories are to be told about the guilds below. The one I remember is in bold.
    I do know alot of guilds are not listed here, to me they are newer guilds even when some of the newer guilds are getting old too. I will let others list them.
    If we got all this lost guilds and their players back, the shard would be very busy. So many friends are long gone.
