Holiday Gift Tickets Ended Early?

    Is it too late to collect the holiday gift tickets?
    The Five on Friday stated, "...just a quick reminder that you have until Monday afternoon to login and collect your tickets for the holiday gifts!"
    Did it end at shard up today, instead of this afternoon? I reminded Wraith to collect his tickets and it seems there are no tickets for him to collect.
    Has anyone else gotten theirs today?

    Not that EA should end these things early, or without warning... but if somethings been up for 3 or 4 weeks, why haven't people logged in their toons and collected their freebies already?

    It seems like every time something is turned off, either on time or early, someone posts that they missed the boat.

    If it's a freebie and only requires login (rather than quests or killing stuff or whatever) collect it early and save yourselves the headache. :scholar:

    I agree, however EA should not announce you can collect through the afternoon, when they should have known it would be shut off at server up!

    Just blows my mind..... Any particular reason why y'all wait till the LAST possible moment to collect them?????

    I mean honestly if it were me and I had "read" that announcement on Friday.... I'd have gotten them already Saturday.... not wait till Monday morning.... that's just silly...... as everyone who has any sense would have told you that likely they would be turned off at server up..... like everything else...... you don't really think they were going to pop some switch and turn off mid afternoon did you?????

    Server up is when things happen server side.... so logic (which apparently you don't have any sense of) would dictate that any change would occur at that time.....

    As for me I took them time to log in and out my 300+ times getting all my gifts on all my characters on every one of my accounts 2 weeks ago.....

    I only made it through about 1400 of the 1900+ characters I have scattered all over the place getting their tickets or claiming the gifts. (I've only claimed the gifts with 43 tickets, mostly on GL trying to see if I'd get one of the rare boxes or rare icy patches. Got one "rare" box and no rare icy patches. Figured I'd let all the rest of the tickets stay in bank boxes and backpacks, along with all the other gifts.) :D

    And folk think I'm crazy for having 8 accounts and at least 5 characters on EVERY shard.

    As for me, I wondered so went ahead and claimed as many tickets as I had people who said they wanted them but didnt get to hook up wtih yet because I was worried about the "afternoon"thing

    If anyone needs any of the holiday gifts on any shard (other than perhaps Siege and Mugen, although I do have a few on each of those too), I'd be happy to redeem some tickets. I've also got a few talking cows on Izumo and Wakoku if someone just can't live without one of them. I have no plans to move them to another shard, so you'd be on your own as far as getting them off the shard.

    I really hate logging on characters for gifts and usually only manage to make it through most shards on my main account before I stop. I did have a vague feeling I should check the shut off date today, but I didn't feel any real urge to get back to it. Oopsie? :p

    I lost all but 2 of my gifts by waiting till today to check all my toons. I took them at their word, like you did, but disappointment is pretty comon. I feel the time should have been longer. Since we didn't get all our gifts, what do we get instead? nuttin

    You been playing UO long?

    Looks like you've only made a few posts here, but trust me, you should get used to them not posting exactly what's going to happen.

    It's frequently not intentional... someone thinks one thing or miscommunicatates to someone else...

    Next time there's something easy like a gift for the taking, just for logging in, if you want them log in and get them. Don't wait until you think it's going to end...

    Mythic doesn't always know when it's going to end... and if they do know, they don't always share the info.

    I would like it if deadlines or endings were made to be Midnight EST of the day listed.

    So for the Holiday Tickets, the date was posted as January 19th, 2009. I would have like to see the holiday stuff turned off at Midnight tonite, instead of yesterday.

    Easier I think if the ending/deadline includes the day scheduled for closure...plus for limited-time content, a little message about it on the patch screen would be welcome, and would give players that last day to finish up anything they forgot. :)

    More than a (business) day later... no word from any EA/Mythic person...

    did it end early?
    did it end when intended but FoF was incorrect?
    "We're sorry (yet again) for the miscommunication."

    Something???

    Clearly, one way or the other, it was their error. Either in coding or in communication but it wasn't anything players did or didn't do... or misread or misinterpreted... as far as I can tell.

    If you make a mistake, appologize for it. Don't hide under your desks and pretend you didn't notice. Reminds me of kids playing football in the living room and hoping mom won't notice they broke the lamp! :lame:

    I'm surprised people are still talking about this :)

    (I've always thought these should be handed out with a vet-reward-like mechanic rather than a box to every character ... well, I'm not bothered by fun gifts like these, but the heritage tokens a couple of years back were a mistake ... but I think people are making waaaay too much of a few hours difference in something that had already lasted a month)

    This is the second personal reference I've received
    about having a low post count - what difference does
    the number make? Stop It, it becomes a rant.

    Sorry, still a noob I guess, I'm at 94 months now..
    Most of stratics I had in binders, hardcopy. Trashed.
    For the most part I have found information presented
    by game reps to be accurate and if they were wrong,
    they usually say so, and often have made up for it
    by substitution or extension. They should be taken at
    their word, if they don't know what they're doing,
    perhaps we should let them help the ones in
    charge of our 401k's, or what's left of them.
    Leaders, not just someone popular are needed.
