Cant this be done? Like its now its house runes all over the shard. Looks kinda messy. Why not make an npc standing in all banks where you can leave a rune to, for a certain cost and for a certain time. And than players can browse all runes he has with descriptions of the houses and recall to shops from it. Its a money drain, good for shop promotion and we have less runes scattered all over the shard.

I guarantee the people I see leaving three house runes next to every single moongate, multiple times per day, will keep doing it. They're not just after people who'd walk up to an NPC WANTING to find a house with vendors. They're trying to entice any and all to go, even if they weren't thinking about shopping.

Not that I can blame them for being a bit desperate, on my shard. The population isn't what it once was.

Yes that is probably true, but souch npcs would entice players to shop to. Plus it would save alot of time from promoting. I am not asking for this just so we would dont see tons of scatered runes all around. I want this allso cause it would leave me more time to actually play the game instead of having to waste hours on promotion each week.

It would be amazing how much game-world shopping would increase if they just made vendors unplaceable at Luna houses. ;)

Why would they do souch thing. Vendor capital would just move to another town. Not much would change.

There aren't any anyway. Closest house in Luna is about 30ish to the bank.

If you include moongates into the equation, there are dozens per shard that are actually closer to the Luna bank than Luna houses are.

Alright, are we just... idly arguing, or seriously suggesting that the Luna houses are not a major sales advantage over, I dunno, randomly hopping through moongates and looking for nearby houses?

Never said they weren't. Was just countering the "they're so close to the bank" argument. I only try to pick apart the flimsy stuff.

I'm actually in the same boat as you, I just can't post about it yet because I'm at work so I can't recall exactly what error message it was giving me late last night after I finished the patch. It wasn't the same as yours, but like you, it was the 2d client and wouldn't work after patching. It was so late by that point though I said screw it and went to bed.

Sorry that you are still having the same issue, though. :(

Only thing I can do is wait for them to fix it... replacement PCs or upgrades are not an option for me now. :\

I am sure they have to--- from what I have heard from interacting with people in game, a BIG majority of people who've been around since before KR, have opted NOT to play in KR. In fact only other very recently returned players (the two I've met) were using KR.

After finding out I could reinstall with my existing plain & T2A cd's and then just patch up from there and play in the 2d client, I chose to do that, as I left back in '01 and really missed the look and feel of UO as I remember it.

So if they no longer support patchability and play viability for the 2d client.... bye bye customer base. From what I've seen. ;)

I'm yet to find someone ever bothering to runevertise a house that stocks anything I could afford, or use.

So, it's just free recall runes. :)

bad idea, I think. Just use a gate service - Pay someone to gate to your shop. Some people make a living off it.

You know, those of us who have shops away from the Luna megacenter rely on those runes to get customers to our shops, especially now that people either recall or use sacred journey to get where they want to go rather than taking the time to wander the countryside as we once did. Having people pick up the runes just to mess with us or to get free runes is annoying and very frustrating. You're interfering with our gameplay. I've run a large shop and rune library since 1999 in various locations, and those runes I drop are very important to my business. I'm not into hunting much, crafting and running my shop and interacting with my customers is where my main enjoyment in UO comes from.

I don't drop runes very often, several weeks go by between my rune drops. Nor do I dump dozens of runes in the same spot. Moongates and banks are my usual targets, but I spread them out usually only dropping three or four at a bank. The other day I started dropping my runes in Luna, only to find out that once I went back into the bank, they had all disappeared. I dropped them again, and watched as a stealther followed me around picking them all up. Why? It was so frustrating I gave up and went offline. I play the game to have fun, not to have my stress level raised and not to end up in a bad mood. It was flat out rude.

So for those of you who complain about griefers in the dungeons interfering with your gameplay, think about it. You're doing the same thing to us.

Simple. They put in a vendor gate on the west side of the Luna Bank building. An NPC there sells you a temp gate pad and a rune as a kit. Lock the pad down in your vendor house.....stand on the tele pad to open a gate targeting the rune......this opens a no timer gate in your vendor house that links to the Luna Vendor Gate......Player walks into the Luna Vendor Gate and gets a table listing all the vendors by house sign title.......server refresh all the gate pads are cleared for the new day, breaking all the vendor gates.
Now to cover the retreads that play the game and want to be idots......you spend just as much time hiding in your own house to bann those that think releasing a dragon in your shop would be fun............covering the same time takes to toss runes.
As great as an ideal snow boards are, there will always be those to **** and moan...... "They only go down?"

So basicly having some sort of built in promotion system for houses outside luna is not seen as a bad idea? Be it gates as you said or npc run runebook does not mather to me i just think it would improve my and many others gameplay.
