Spined, horned and barbed hides come from different creatures.
You'll find a list, and much other useful information, here:
Spined/Horned and Barbed are harvested off of creatures.
IE: Lizardmen for spined (among others)
Drakes for Horned (among others)
and Dragons for barbed (among others)
So you kill the appropriate creature and skin them just like you'd skin a cow for regular leather.
What you have is a runic tool, it will allow you to make armour with modifications on it.
www.uoguide.com/runic For more information.
http://www.uoguide.com/Leather And heres a complete list of what monster drops what leather in what quantity for you, hope that helps
*Nudges Petra to include that list on stratics*
That leather information has been part of the Tailor essay for YEARS.
In fact, I just updated it a couple months ago with all the creatures I could find from SE & ML (and, note that the uoguide info was less complete than my research, and was actually WRONG on a creature or two; I fixed the incorrect numbers, but left most of the missing creatures for someone else to add - I hate editing wikis, as they don't have a WYSIWYG interface; It took me the better part of 20 minutes to add 1 or 2 creatures and have it look right).
And, the Runic information on Stratics was updated about the same time.
Before you tell people to "include that list on Stratics", perhaps you should ACTUALLY USE STRATICS and find out that the information is already there....

Basara - that is a fabulous FAQ. I was not aware at the greats strides made to update it.
Now if we could just get new players to READ it.
Basara, those are excellent essays! You are so helpful and I think I speak for all of us who read your essays and answers when I say we all appreciate what you have to say...THANKS!
You tell him Basara . Nudge Petra indeed!
Especially when 'Petra' has already posted the link to the information as the first reply in the thread?
Sorry Petra...you are most helpful too! hehe
