Is this a player's boat that sunk? If so, why?
Yes, for some reason the cannons on players ships that sink fail to be deleted and must be done by a GM
Boats decay. Cannons do not.
Is it possible to raise the boat OR the canon's?
Oops... just saw Dermot's post
FYI: If you page a GM they will come remove the cannon...
BUT!!!!! Make sure you ship is no where near the cannons they are removing...
They removed some cannons out of the water by my Magincia house, and also deleted my cannons, and my parrot perch, and my other add-on, along with all the boats of my neighbors cannons... they said they cant help replace items even though they deleted em so yea... get your boat away, ask them to delete then bring your boat in.
Actually if you carry a sextant with you all you need do is just page a GM give them the co-ordinates to the cannons and ask them to please remove them... you don't have to stand about and wait for it... but each one of those you'll have to page about.... apparently they are incapable of looking on the other side of the dock.
Geez...lol. Kind of makes you not want to page a GM for any reason after reading something like that .
I'm not bashing GM's because I don't need to, they make their own name for themselves now a days... But I want to make sure no one loses their cannons and other stuff for no good reason.
I was just thinking boat movement may be one of the best UO improvements ever. But come on, can we not fix the canon decay bug?
So there's been some of these canons in the water within view of my house for weeks now. Maybe I shouldn't page, in fear of my house getting deleted?
I would really love to build a houseboat on top of some of these. Devs?
HOUSEBOATS! Wow, what a concept.... I'd love that! And talk about making more housing available....
Give us new craftables that would allow us to sink big pilings into the oceans to build homes out on the high seas. Wow... Talk about a gold sink! Let us buy deeds for LARGE ocean "plots" to build on. Damn, would that ever be cool!
Obviously spoken by someone who is NOT a fisherman. I have ZERO desire to have to sail around 100,000,000 homes all scattered on the water it's bad enough having to avoid 30,000,000 boats and other garbage that's on the seas.
I'd love it, but somebody (I think a dev) pointed out that having moving houses would be a lag nightmare, and ship movement is already quirky enough as it is, without having to move you and basically a house all at once. A hold is one thing, but something where things can be locked down and actually used is another story.
I would love the Brit ship to have a deck that could act as a "housing" deck, say 100 items that you could lock down and interact with.
Just make cannons that aren't attached to boats salvageable... then you conquer two birds with one stone: No need to fix the real bug, and no need to page a GM to come take care of it.
Houseboats would be required to be "dock'd"... But I'd be most interested in the devs giving us the ability to "build" homes on sea "plots"...
Would you say that if you could, oh say, have an ocean "plot" the size of a couple of castles? That would be so cool......
As long as there was enough tiles between each to sail a Brit ship past. I could just see people getting together to deliberately block in areas if there wasn't a limit.
Now if they laid out a specific part of the ocean for say a floating village...that would be cool.
Either of those would be fine... But can you imagine the "kick in the but" that building houses out on the ocean would have on the game? Wow! BIG PLOTS with "pilings" to build the floor on, building "piers" to park your boat... That would be just awesome IMO...
Like MalagAste said just page on them when you find them.. you can use a sextant if in CC or in EC just read the coords off your map. Every time I find one on Catskills I sit there and page on them.. I have time though, not everyone does I know. But Catskills seas are pretty cannon free.
