Place some log cabins with a few npcs that collect items. Add things to loot drops, such as on bears, bear claw and bear tail. Add to all the other types as well, like rabbit foot, deer antlers, for example.

Also, use alot that already exist, like tribal masks and spears, arcane gems, paragon chests, and whatever else could be obtained by hunting.

The best part would be hunting for items so you could turn them in. If a bear's tail was rare and worth 5,000 points and was randomnly dropped, there would be alot of dead bears. If their claws were worth 500 points and not so rare a drop it would be worth hunting bear.

Awards should be given for these points, such as a life sized stuffed bear to place in the tower and willing to give let's say 150,000 to 200,000 points.

The rewards should automatically change every 3 months so the system maintains itself. For example, the first 3 months a standing bear is available, the next 3 months a sitting bear is available, 3 months after that a bear with a fish in its' mouth becomes available.

The systems added into the game should not be taken back out because an event is over, they should be put in place to make the game better and remain with the game and its' history.

I like it. Or... instead of collecting X amount of items. What if it was like the quest system where you kill X amount of animals and you get points for that?

Say for example you want a stuffed cougar statue. It's worth 10,000 points. So in return, you have to go out and kill say... 100 or so cougars. Go back, collect your reward.

If they make it too hard... you wont find many hunters. I definately like the idea though. Bring back some RP'ing and other things to hunt for 'fun' rewards. Decor and such... maybe get bear rugs, cougar rugs, deer head mount for the wall etc...Maybe allow you to re-sell the items to the NPC collector for X amount of gold... newbies could then make some decent cash. As long as they made it to where the system couldn't be abused. But I don't see many scripters wanting to make profit off of that when there are so many other things they can do.

Can't imagine it'd be too hard to implement... a couple new mobs to create. Couple new quests / items to make... etc =) Could be a blast!

Maybe add titles too... kinda like spawn titles... McFly, Mountain Man Extraodonaire!

They could possibly add named deer, bear, cougars etc... That you have to TRACK down and kill and they give something special that you turn in for a reward. Say you go to the NPC collector, ask about Gruff the Grizzly... he tells you that Gruff was last spotted due south of Britain. So you go and track him. You can only do that quest once every 24 hours. The next time you go to do it.. Gruff was last spotted due NE of Vesper... etc.

It'd definately add a fun aspect to the game. Break up the normal grind of camping mobs. It could be done in both Fel/Trammel.

Another thought... they could even do something w/the rangers shortbow that you can craft via recipe... make it like a slayer weapon for all creatures. Bears/deer/cougars/panthers/birds etc...

They could make the named animals like the minor champs... Miasma, Swoop, Rend etc...A little tougher to kill and drop decent loot.

They should also make craftable deer/bear hats! This was mentioned in the crafters forum.

  4. Is this a joke at WOW's horrible questy grind systems expense? or are you actually serious?

If you don't like the OP's ideas, you can easily avoid them by looking at who authored the thread and not click into it, unless you're only coming in to troll them. Please don't. Thanks.

I don't want to turn down this suggestion, but I think the "turnining-in" is nothing that contributes to the character of UO in general. It makes people do mindless things, soloing creatures for hours, days, weeks, instead of forming a community and going on an adventure.

I'd rather see a more intelligent monster- spawn- and reward system, which makes hunting not a boring routine, but actually a challenge. The system should be dynamic so player actions would actually change the way creatures behave (spawn, react).

Regardless of agree/disagree...like/dislike, if there is something relevant to be said then I think it should be said. Sometimes the best viewpoint is the one opposite of your own, wouldnt you agree? *smirks*

The new saying, that I just made up..."IBTC....In before the Coltering...or "this thread's been Colter'd"....

To the OP, keep up the good ideas. If we throw enough of them at the Devs, 1 or 2 are bound to stick to something...

Who says I was coming to kill you.

I was going to give you my stuffed animal collection because I loves you so much.

If you need anything on Siege, even if it's just a safe place to log, let me know. Think I even got some stuffed animals for you on Siege.

Im sorry, but did you mean to PM me this?...*shakes head*

@ the OP...my apologies for the interruption, but I felt a public response necessary considering some people have the ability to quote procedure but not follow it.

Please...feel free to continue where you were.

Do tell where I deviated from this supposed "procedure" you have in mind... All I was saying in my initial reply was that if Colter didn't care for the OP's threads, there is a way to avoid reading them rather than trolling. It would seem like you've got some sort of crusade brewing, Restroom Cowboy... If you have an issue with my moderation, I would recommend you do so via the proper means and take it up with the forum administrators.

I simply was pointing out something for public record...much akin to what I am doing now. People must take accountablility for thier actions, and a position of power is no excuse to circumvention of this. People should have a way to provide proof of misdeed...and on the forums quoting followed by response is inevitably the best way to accomplish this. That is if the post doesnt get deleted...

I am on no crusade, however when I see something that sticks out like a turd on a white canvas I am going to ask what it is doing there and what I can do to help remove it.

BTW...just curious as to why when I ask for accountability I am on a *crusade* but you are *doing your job*? You must be a crusader? :D

What does any of that have to do with me and my reply to Colter? Accountability for what exactly?

  25. Sadly some people do take what's said here seriously and react to it in game.

Ah well. Takes all types I guess. :coco:

Would be nice if deer, rabbits and bears all the non monster type creatures would be harder to kill. Make the game more realistic, have the animals jump out of the way of weapons and have arrows miss. When you approach the animals they should run away from you into sheltered areas or far enough away where you can no longer reach them..It would be possible to chase them down and hit them or maybe for an archer to wait for something to approach.

To get the animals close to you you could lure them with food and begin taming when they came to eat or they could be trapped but might still run or be scared off.

As far as the quest, I don't really think running back and forth to an npc who tells you to go kill this or that is as rewarding as finding the actual items as loot. I think more people would rather hunt for the items rather than, having to renew a quest every time. Also, more items could be created for the regular monsters, such as a cyclops hammer and again the items could be made useful or valuable for collecting and decoration. Most importantly, the items would give people something to do by turning them in for rewards.

Thank you everyone for your help with this idea.
