Ok, Super Troopers reference this time :)

Last night I had about thirty minutes to get online, no one responded in chat about doing a spawn so I thought I would try my luck against a Blackthorn captain.

My limited experience with these guys is that they are tough dudes.

Swampie and I rolled up to find Deadly Poison the Rogue (pretty sure that was his name) and I started my EoO, CW, DF AI cycle. I was using my hit lightning longsword with 77 mana and life leech. With the help of several orange petals, I kicked his scrawny butt! I was super pleased. Decided there was time for one more, midway through another player came and finished him off with me. 3 minax arties in 20 minutes, sweet!

How do you guys handle the wear and tear on equipment? This captain just destroyed the stuff I was wearing.

There is no point using CW with AI. I didn't see equipment goes faster then on other bosses. Congrats on first Blackthorn Capitan :) But remember there are some harder than Rogue Capitans.

I think that the Macer captains really beat armor up, since they hit with maces.

The Rogue is a nice, easy, one to start with. I think I've managed to kill one in ~4 minutes. On the other end of the spectrum is one of the swords/macer/fencers when they spawn with 50k HP - they take forever, and can be a headache.

The Bard is also quite easy, just bring a fast weapon to swap to when she screams at you for the -60 SSI, otherwise you just stand there basically.

The mystic is pretty easy - can be annoying when you use VE, since he can purge you out of it, otherwise he's easy.

The Wizard is not too hard - just make sure you run a few screens away when she tells you that "all shall burn".

Watch out for assassin and necromancer. They have tainted aura, so you can't use LL - just bring a big pile of bandaids and healing and they're fine.

Thanks for the tips! 50k hp sounds awful. So how close is the Rogue to Paroxymus? The Rogue constantly poisoned me, and hit fast. If I can beat him do I have a good shot at paroxymus? Or does he have nastier abilities against solo attempts?

I've never tried Parox, but from what I saw in CorwinXX video from some weeks back, Parox is a bit tougher than any of the masters, given that he can land 70HP hits, and always has a big pile of HP.

Unrelated, this might be the best thread title on the front page of threads...
