I can't Log in today

    I have the game on three different computers and all of them allow me to get to the shard selection screen and then give me a synchronization issue blurb and tell me to close my client and try again. This has been going on for over an hour and there is no notice on UO Herald and no real way of contacting UO to let them know of the issue.

    Please don't respond with "When was last time you patched client" statements because it is happening on three different computers that are all up to date. It isn't the internet connection because it is happening on my laptop at school as well. I just want to play the game!

    Can someone at least let us know they are aware of/working on the problem??

    I have tried them all. Nothing seems to work. Just keep getting same error.

    I am just getting a synchronization error. I have patched (funny I mentioned that in my initial post and yes someone asked me if I had anyway) and this has been going on now for 5 hours. Have turned on/off my computer multiple times, tried from work, in the library, it is happening on all of my accounts. It isn't a trace route issue. It is just happening. I have sent an email to tech support, but let's face it, lack of support is what is killing UO. I will be lucky if I get an email in 72 hours and it will probably just ask me if I am patched and then 72 hours after I send the "Yes, I told you in the email that I sent that I patched" it will probably say "Are you connected to the internet?"

    I am terribly frustrated with the lack of communication and problem solving that UO's policies have allowed to exist for years. They don't keep players in the loop in any meaningful way. They don't run their website in a professional manner. They have allowed the fans to become their webmasters and we are forced to turn to each other in the dark in hopes of answers they should readily have available. Why isn't their a tech support number someone can call? I know there used to be...

    I love this game, but I loved my ex-wife a lot too...and she is now my EX-WIFE!

    There's been some quite serious network issues with some Level3 backbones and Comcast users specifically today. You don't happen to fall into the latter group, do you?

    Can you login to account management via the website or are you shut out of that too? The three different computers you use to login, are they all using the same IP address?

    I am using Comcast, no the computers are not all using same IP address, yes I can get into account management, I haven't been banned and NO YOU ARENT FUNNY asking the very question that I asked you not to ask and that two other people asked I AM PATCHED!!!!

    There is an IP ban which is different than a UO ban, which is why I ask. It happened to me back when they switched to this new master account system. I was trying to link all my accounts so my IP got locked out of account management until I called and pestered them to unblock my IP. It didn't, however, lock me out of UO then but in the intervening time, they could have made changes which might cause an issue. If you are using different IPs, however, this shouldn't be an issue. Mind you, you are using different IPs insofar as the internet is concerned right? We're not talking about the different IPs that get assigned to your systems behind your router.

    Wouldn't an IP ban (or any ban for that matter) stop them at login rather than at shard selection? That's where the OP is having his problems.

    Yes, any sort of ban would keep him from connecting to the system at all.


    Also he should make sure he's patched. :D

    Not true. When my IP was banned during the link your accounts thing, I could still login to account management but it wouldn't let me link any more accounts. I would get an odd error message at a point you wouldn't expect to get it. I mean think about it. This is EA. You would think an IP ban would cut you off completely, but I reiterate, this is EA. The extent of what I could or couldn't do, I didn't really want to find out because I didn't want to get my IP locked again once I get them to unlock it. I wound having to use Juno dialup to actually link all my UO accounts and prevent myself from getting the IP ban again. What a painful process that was! Again, back then it didn't stop me from logging into the game but as I said, things might have changed.

    I would suggest, with the timing and all, that this could be related to the problems they've been having with their infrastructure generally then. I believe the worst of the problems are beginning to get resolved on that front though. Could be worth checking w/ them.

    I'm on Comcast as well, and sites that wouldn't load for me earlier in the day are now loading just fine, if a bit delayed still

    Logging into account management is entirely different from logging into the game. Anyone can get into account management, regardless of whether or not their account is active. The OP is not getting past shard selection after logging into the game, meaning they are getting past account verification, etc.
