I had a Dream - Boosters

    Remember When Dev's say "we need to revisit that"?
    or "we're working on that but can't release the details"?
    Dev's are like R&D, at some point it has to give a return, So that means they are NOT gonna just do it - well, they'll do it but We have to Pay for it - Fishing is the first

    With the current trend of events, what do we have now?
    people complaining a Lot,
    people quitting
    empty/under-utilized Fel
    empty/under-utilized cities
    mining/resource gathering
    dupes/speeders
    pvp dieing
    crafting - (GM means nothing)
    Loot tables (crap)
    Housing/Storage (every body want more)
    inflation
    shopping is a PITA
    the game is just old
    few challenges

    Was the below a dream, or Nightmare?

    Trammel is not so wonderful anymore - no more care-bear environment, (exc. New Haven)
    Monsters are a Lot tougher in Tram, but have increased loot tables and Increased chance of arties
    there will still be areas of 'no spawn',both in-city and out
    pvp is not consensual in Tram OR Fel, toggle on/off
    Huge outside areas for PVP and in new city provided arenas, also w/ unique monsters.
    Red Entry gates to PVP areas, to Random or Fixed spot inside these and existing areas
    Most guard zones removed
    Spell casting limitations removed in cities
    Cities are themed, and not All items/vendors are available in Every city
    Everything gets extra storage, backpack, bank, containers, packie, vendor
    Increased check amt size - but all checks cost 10%
    Greatly increased number of public forges(in dungeons too) - Fel only
    New RNG used to determine resource type, Every location - Fel only
    Packie speed & tracking adjusted similar to a paragon
    Smelt or combine fixed for backpack and on packie, Carry weight and item count increased
    Movements checks are monitored, if set rate is exceeded, player is kicked and acct noted
    Every item has a unique ID, w date/time and acct# stamps
    If a new item of same ID is created (ie request made to add it to db) - auto deletion, kicked, acct noted.
    Since we know who you are and what you have and where you have it, restoration is possible
    We would also know what's on your vendors, and selling price, so search-able database of items on vendors, and location
    Makes location relatively unimportant

    IDOC's - No visible timer, but clock countdown Works.
    Increased stable slots
    woke up as I got to crafting

    You have a problem of reserving a space for player progression. This at the moment is what Trammel is mostly for.
    I agree that a harsher world would be interesting, but how would a new player survive if an orc would be a challenge?

    Some things sound interesting, but all in all it needs mosre structure.

    monsters like we have now would be in Fel, only. Tram would have tougher standards.

    Ands I didn't mean to put it structured, that's somebody at ea's job

    Imho none of this stuff would make the game more interesting for the mass market.
    As for challenge, its really up to the player. With imbuing out and soulstones, its easy to run templates you have fun with and not always the most op and gimp char possible. If you got yourself to the point that there is no challenge left , make up your own challenges or play the game by your own rules, you probably got enough gold by now that you can go out and do stuff just for fun and not for the rewards.

    The same way those of us that started way back did ... run off, heal, come back. Can't tell you how many times I dirtnapped to an Orc Mage before finally besting one. That was early 1999 and I'd started Dec 1998.

    Keep plugging away solo or team up ... but it was fun in that I learned what tactics were best to use. Also, I knew I was getting better as the daily number of death robes decreased.

    NO it is NOT "someones job @ EA" to make sense of that ... "thing"
    IT IS your job to structure that ... that ... "thing" so that someone CAN make something else out of it.

    NO ... R&D "at some point it has to give a return" <<< is NOT a true assumption
    The proper order of the world of man CAN BE broken into 3 areas of "action"
    Theory, Technology, Technique
    Theory being the "idea" component ... a thought, dream, concept ... "idea". all the overarching abstract "Meta-theory" components are here
    Technology being the "actualization" part of the process ... call them tools and it makes more sense.
    Technique being the level of skill in applying the technology to the theoretical.

    A classic example of which would be

    N.M.,It's not my job and doesn't matter anyways cause I'm not staying, but You Will be paying for all the 'fixes' properly called Boosters You've been here a few yrs, so is the game getting better?
    This is the worse i've ever seen attitudes towards the game. Pages & pages of posts here of people Not having fun. How much do you think you'll have to pay for all these fixes (boosters)? several hundred easily, with extra payments at 6mth intervals, sure as heck won't be me.
    Even if it was all organized in paks, doesn't matter, cause we all know they seldom listen to us anyways, Right?

    I worked in R&D at Tandy Electronics - yeah, product Is expected to make the company money. Mostly we stole people's submitted designs/protos & then screwed 'em out of any royality

    What I would want:

    A. Monster spawn ramped up considerably, both trammel & fel, by degrees based on sub-server.
    -Britain area only gets a minor boost
    -Moonglow/Dagger/Fire server gets a bigger boost, but with little change on Moonglow itself in Trammel (on Fel, an increase around the entrance to the new COM base would be good).
    -Vesper server (includes Nujelm, Magincia, and Ocllo/New Haven): gets a major boost, but only apparent on Ocllo & mainland outside Vesper city limits.
    -Yew Server & Minoc Servers get a REALLY big danger bump, that would bleed over to the Vesper server side of the server line on occasion(te area between Minoc moongate and the bridges into town.
    Skara/Jhelom/Trinsic server gets the biggest increase, with a better guardzone for Skara mainland.
    The Lost Lands become absolutely vicious in both Tram & Fel (with spawn unlike that of the champs in all the non-champ areas in Fel, to make it obvious what is and isn't champ spawn).

    B. non-con PVP/steal toggle (only switchable to non-pvp if you've not killed or stolen from a PC in 24 hours).
    C. Reds allowed to all facets, but any red toggled PvP-on can have guards called on them in any non-Fel guard zone.
    D. Most (but not all) Fel champ spawns will require PvP toggle to be on, to enter. The ones that do not will be ones that are started with Valor virtue by a PvP-off character, but starting one that way would require Knight of Valor, and reduce the virtue value for the starter to Zero. Champs started this way would NOT give virtue points or Justice scroll drops (nor would justice work), and raids on them would still be able to target anyone toggled PvP-on, and the raiders could just try to outgun the starters for the scroll drops, without even fighting them, if it came down to it (and might even frustrate the Trammies doing the spawn into flipping their toggles).

    E. Add Tools comparable to the Prospector's Tool and Gargoyle's Pickaxe for lumberjacks. Harvester's blades would also become available as a rare drop (Doom, champ replica, etc.) as they are the next best thing to a PT for leather gatherers. Also add charge-based rare talismans for enhancing boosts for tailor, bowyer/fletcher, carpenter & tinker (do as part of collections, with the crafting bonuses random).

    F. Totally redo NPC Vendor inventories.
    Blacksmiths would sell 3 of the 5 metal armor categories (ring, chain, plate, helmets, shields) at random, and 2 of the weapon categories (bladed, macing, axes, polearms), based on the race of the NPC and the facet.
    Armorers would sell 4 metal armor categories, and 2 other categories (depending on race, male leather/leaf, female leather, Studded/hide, bone/woodland)
    Weaponsmiths would sell all weapon categories for their race/facet, regardless of the skill needed to make them.
    Tailors will sell all clothes native to their facet (instead of leaving out certain items, and a couple spots being random duplicates on occasion), but no longer sell supplies. Weavers will be the sole source of tailor cloth and cloth-making supplies not produced by players, and will start carrying some of the types not currently sold. Prices will be tweaked to make creating cloth from materials bought from the weaver cheaper than buying the cloth from him.
    Bowcrafters will sell all "normal" bows from ML & SE, regardless of facet.
    etc.

    G. Allow checks for 10 and 100 million to be created, by using "certified checks" that function like scrollbinders, and cost 1% of the face value (100k for 10 million, 1 million for 100 million). Partial checks of this type can't be broken, and they accept checks only of values of even millions.

    (H. For the SP players - allow NPC vendors to buy off players, but ALWAYS 1 GP per item, no matter how much it's worth elsewhere (so at most, it would allow for a cleaner shard, from lack of crafter training waste, but not much else).)
