:eyes:a blue <name held secret to protect me from RoC> who was mining ore.
Well, this blue was mining the same spot and never changed his mining
path...in fact this blue returned back to his house using the same path
    without taking a shorter route.

I watched this for about 40 minutes to see if the method of digging and
traveling would change; but, nope it did not.

    1. I thought about calling the GM, but why should I stop this person playing
his/her game the way he/she wanted. Excess of ore produces excess of
ingots, which should lower prices. May be this blue was playing on his/her
other account and just did not want to bother digging mining at the keyboard.

    2. I thought about just killing this blue, but wait...this blue did not attack
me; so, I could not kill this blue... No, I would not go get a red just to let
that red get a kill... besides trying that would just get me attacked instead.

    3. I have no means of blocking this blue in his/her path. But, that would be
a form of griefing...I be stopping his/her game.

I marvel at what people trying to do that short cut to a goal...
I still think those people are missing the need to do it yourself by using the
keyboard in front of your screen.
Should I consider this blue to be clever in his/her skil inside this game?

Honestly there are a lot of pretty tedious and mindnumbing tasks in UO. Mining, Lumberjacking, Raising Animal Taming (good lord!), among a few others. Personally if someone wants to *ATTENDED* macro/script, hell, go for it. The problem is all the unattended scripts, primarily on other shards pulling in insane amounts of resources. This doesn't seem to be to much of a problem on Siege.

Like you said... more ingots means, maybe, slightly lower prices, which would be welcome.

Cheating is cheating, period. No one forces us to play. We agreed to a set of rules when we opened our accounts. We don't have to like them, but we agreed to abide by them.

If a person feels something is too "tedious" to do legally then the person should find something else to do.

    -Skylark

P.S. the mods have made it clear in the past that posting coordinates to a location for people to come look at something "interesting" that you found is perfectly acceptable. No need to mention names.

As Skylark said, please post coordinates so some of us can have a "look".

you should have just surrounded them with bagballs and watched them walk in circles for an hour or so

Had he done that, then both of them would have been doing something illegal.

He should have just recorded the person's gameplay and then blackmail (spelling) him into giving him half the resources or rat him out to the Gm's and send them the video. :)

There's nothing illegal about blocking their path, provided you leave one open path.

This ain't trammel, there's no such thing as griefing on siege.

Trammel or no trammel, the devs don't allow us to make and or change the rules just because "this aint trammel". Bagball blocking is illegal and it doesn't matter if you're in trammel or heaven, it is what it is. Period.

Seems to me an attentive player would be able to move bagballs out of their way.

you are both right and wrong. bagball blocking is illegal in most places, however recently it has been deemed legal to block every single tile in a faction area. but if im playing a game of bagball with my boys in the star room and they happen to block off something i wont tell if you wont....

then they wouldnt have anything to complain about...

I did ask a question in my original post, but I not sure it got any answers.

I have apparently decided to leave this person ALONE. Perhaps my post was
a milder warning to those who do this activity may start looking over their
shoulder, as I do with everything I do inside this game.
I have found no one on this forum full of virtue enough to know what is best
to do...and I know I am not expect anything different from that miner.
He/she is taking the RISK doing that type of mining.
Perhaps someone else will find this person mining and do something else!
Until then that miner gains his/hers reward: ore.

PS to a person named Zip. I thought one could not place a house just after
the IDOC occurred. I guess that still in the works for Siege Perilous.

I'm a l33t scrip [email protected] I used da dclick o da hpt in [email protected]!!!11

Anyway, I don't know what to tell you, I clicked and targeted and it placed. It was about 30 seconds or so after the fall. What's the delay supposed to be? I know I read "random", but does anyone have a range?

Clever? In creating the means to perform this feat? I don't know, I don't know what is involved.
In employing illicit means to automate a game that's meant to be played, no. In my humble opinion of course.

As to blocking the path. No, I don't think you can block the path completely, but you could certainly put a few bends in it.

The range was in hours after the IDOC fell...
I was barely lucky to get anything...at all.
The whole point of this delay of placement was to give some chance of
    looting by others.
As it was, you in 30 seconds got all except the chest I held in my hand.
It was so heavy I could not even take one step! Not one. So drop and drag
I went. But, I did not even get all of even that chest. You can not loot
    the chest in hand.
And if I put it down, you could have just picked it up and waited until I left.
There was nothing I could do about Zip. No magery, no explosive potions..
and worse... I would have had to attack a blue, which I can not.
    So, Zip ... you won.

OOh, did someone's scriptor get pwned?!?

Note: bagball blocking is perfectly legal, provided you leave a path. Except in faction bases, where complete blocking is legal.

No, the point was so people couldn't script house placement.
A stupid change that is about 8 years too late, like everything else in UO.

A game programmer designer can only guess at what is important inside the
game. But, the players have lots and lots of time for trial and error.
Once, a logic flaw occurs it is never ignored by the discoverer. Oh, no, never
    ...
the problem is that no online game can ever prevent scripting without preventing
    the game from being played.
Player behavior is the biggest bug in the game... how does the developers
deal with that? They can not, they are the customers.
So, people see that the developers are not clever enough to solve the problem
inside the game and we get your reaction of disappointment.
I guess you think it was better they never made the game...

    :D (listen)

*hugs the 80s while simultaneously laughing at them*

You are right though, there is always going to be someone looking to find a hole in a program. Even the best programmers will not stop this from happening completely, but some are a lot better at it than others.
