He probably has one of those rings or weapons or things like NPCs have....Which has +3,000 of everything on one item.

Worse than his armor though is the fact that he says there's no evidence of the Shadowlords' involvement.

When we all saw one of them. And when we continue to fight their ethereal forms night after night, inside the rift.

Galen really cursed him out when he said that...

That is exactly it the shadowlords have no involvement only a remnant of the shadowlord in ethereal form remains in the rift not the actual shadowlord.

There really is a good chance the shadowlords had nothing to do with this and that it is all the time lord causing it or something even worse.

The Time Lord appears to be on our side. (For the moment anyway.)

    See
    this thread.

Towards the end, someone posts the actual dialogue that took place before the black gate that could bring us back to real Moonglow.

Add to this the fact that Draconi stated, definitively, in another thread that the Shadowlords are now loose, thanks to the blackrock detector.

    1. The Shadowlords are definitely loose in the "real" world (meaning are loose from their realm, in Britannia proper someplace);

    2. They definitely killed Kornos (no loss there, the moron);

    3. It is definitely their minions we're fighting in the rift;

    4. One of them at least (Astaroth, the Shadowlord of Hate) was behind at least one of the recent events (the attacks on the Shrines of Love);

    5. The reason we're fighting their "echoes" left in the Void is that the "real things" are somewhere loose in Britannia proper.

Yes, the Shadowlords are behind this.

Why this isn't clear to Avery is beyond me....He wasn't there when the Rift opened up, and he's probably helping his bosses to control the flow of information, maybe?

Ruling Council: Go to Moonglow, set up some guards, and wait. And emphasize to everyone that there's no evidence the Shadowlords are involved.

    Avery: But witnesses....

Ruling Council: There's no evidence that they were involved.

    Avery: Aye.

*two thumbs up for posting the healer there* At least we can get a resing and then run over to the front of the blacksmith shop for any spell casting. It was getting real old to run all the way to the other side of Glow for a healer and then run back.

Am I the only one that's noticed this is the second high-ranking royal guard official of sorts in this storyline wearing darker than shadow iron plate armor? Not exactly the standard of choice for Order. People already thought that somethin was goin on with the royal council storywise.. could it be that the Shadowlords have taken over completely?

Its basically his 'swat' uniform. Try 'Tactical' as a keyword for Avery, hell explain about his combat unit.

  11. Well I've kinda wondered this for a long time, that is are the council opperating under the influence of the shadowlords.

As one of the court mages stole book of truth from the palace and traded it to what appeared to be shadowlords outside the entrance to despise, then disappeared in a explosion (no body of said mage (perhaps Sutek)), there is at least some infiltration.

Note : Captain Avery responds to the word VORTEX. Googling his reply brings up some worrying implications.

I'd argue against Captain Avery's choice of colors meaning all that much.

Galen's cloak is necromancer gray and he often wears a hooded shroud of shadows.

But....Well, let's say that between you and the other posters, you're all making a pretty persuasive case that it's at least possible. The colors he chooses to wear would indeed be a part of that case. You're the first I'm aware of to point this out.

Had we even heard of Captain Avery before now? I forget.

Aside from this character, that term refers to a seafood restaurant and a famous pirate from the 1880s.

It's the first time we see him in-game, but he's been the "right-hand man" for Lord Francesco of the Royal Council for a long time.

He investigated the blackrock traders in Haven, following their trail to Blood Dungeon after the destruction of the city.
Then he escorted Francesco when he met Kronos to fund the blackrock detector.

He generally seems to be a good guy, but you can never know...

  15. When saying Vortex to Avery it says something like [*flips through notes* Ah yes. something about some Vortex Cube. Any leads?]

Are these notes that Avery takes from the FOA in blood dungeon?

Btw Francesco is the bad table mannered fat guy who is with Avery at the Unicorn Inn. He doesn't really inspire me as a royal guard. [IMG]

I don't think he inspires Avery also as he doesn't appear to have shared the notes with his superior.

  16. I have long thought there was something wrong with the council, but I never thought it was anything more than corrupt politicians trying to stay in power and hold onto their cushy jobs...

...as recent events have unfolded I am starting to feel that they are being heavily influenced (directly or indirectly) by the shadow lords.

I could be way off base here, but this feels right to me.

when was the last time we really saw them, or heard from them??

  17. Well i hate to be a conspiracy theorist but the shadowlords are quite capable of possesing others as i understand.

When I was saying "second", it was because a few events ago didn't the captain of the guard show up wearing the same color of armor? It seems to me The Shadowlords possessed the three highest ranking military presences and used their spiritual powers to influence the people around them (a Shadowlord simply being in the presence of other people forces them to exhibit signs of influence of the anti-virtues).

Falsehood spreading disinformation now and influencing people to do the wrong things at various points in the story, Hatred causing the peasants to revolt over the apparent wrongful conviction of Ricardo, Cowardice preventing the Royal Guard from defending the cities properly during any of the recent attacks... i'm sure you guys can come up with some better examples than I can, as well. Wasn't Avery the one who raided the FoA hideout in the Blood dungeon and came back as the lone survivor? He could have been lying then about what really happened, and lying now about what's really going on.

Avery is almost certainly Faulinei, Shadowlord of Falsehood. I'd say the Royal Guard Commander is most likely Nosfentor, the Shadowlord of Cowardice. This leaves a question though as to who Astaroth, Shadowlord of Hatred is controlling.. it would have to be someone high in the royal council though, and someone that isn't incapacitated. Maybe the judge who tried Ricardo? Or maybe the commander is Astaroth and the judge is Nosfentor.. i'm not sure.. thoughts people?

Ahhh.. maybe one is Baron Lenshire... being able to get such a sudden drop on Belo when hundreds of armed fighters couldnt even scratch him has never added up..

Maybe a call to have the higher-ups of the Royal Council, Council of Mages, and Royal Guard imprisoned temporarily is in order?

I think that captain Avery may only be a pawn in francesco's plans. As you mentioned he was under direct command of Lord Francesco for each of those tasks and also in watching the hooded strangers gathering blackrock around old Haven. There was mention that it should have been the Commander of the Royal Guard that should have delt with the Blood Dundeon situation, and as mentioned before that a Royal Mage stole the Book of Truth, so there is trouble within the Royal Council. Further conformation of this is show in a coversation between Sherry and Lady Aileen

As mentioned befor say "machine" to Avery and he's not happy with things, plus he has notes he looks at when you mention "vortex", could these notes be ones he took from Blood Dungeon and he no longer trusts Lord Francesco to pass them on.

Lastly things are being with held right down to mage Numan outside the tent, say "gate" to him followed by "trouble". They are withholding the fact that they dont know what to do from the Royal Council.

This echos Inus words at the very start "Division"

  22. I may be wrong but i see captain Avery as a lower ranking officer trying to do his duty. When Brian uses the wand he has, to cause a last explosion of the blackrock, Avery concern is to get his men outta the room. He then asseses their condition and eventually makes it out of blood dungeon with some of his men.

Also Casca's appointment to Ambassador and appointment to prosecutioner in Ricardo's trial smells fishy to me. Inu turns up at the trial and infers that this is a sideshow to what is important. [ a delibrate distraction perhaps].

I forgot about Casca... he'd be the lead runner for being Astaroth's puppet, definitely.

And I can see what you mean about Avery.. but.. too many coincidences in a row and you can't call them coincidences anymore. Plus, he would have had to have noticed something by now as close as he seems to be to all of the major events.

At the very least i'd say we can be sure something is up with at least Francesco (maybe he ordered the officers to wear the almost FoA-esque armor?), and probably Casca too.

Can anyone think of a third person that could be a puppet? This could be important to know to understand what's going on.

On a related note, wouldn't it be fun to challenge the devs to call their bluff on these people when we're more or less sure who is who? Would be an interesting event to suddenly have come up and throw off the storyline, of the people we suspect being captured and executed like poor Ricardo in some sort of witchunt for the Shadowlords.

  24. I beleive Avery is more or less following orders which are not to enter the rift. So he may not have witnessed the shades [ for want of a better description] of the shadowlords himself. Is he being prevented from carrying out his duty?

  25. Inu - Falsehood, driven insane by "I always lie"
Francesco - Hate, wants to kill Inu
    Casca - Cowardice, blame Ricardo

    maybe?

    Melissa is definitely a puppet.

During the start of the event, she showed up late because she "had to take care of something." And I've seen enough movies and read enough books to recognize that as someone being up to no good.

She was also the cause of the barrier failure around the gate in Alternate Moonglow.

AND her body has never been recovered.

    She also ran off... hmm..

    My guesses:
Francesco - Faulinei (false orders, misdirection, and not giving all of the details)
Casca - Astaroth (cmon.. this guy just draws in hate from everyone)
Melissa - could be Nosfentor.. but I don't know.. it felt more like she was being influneced by his aura, and less like she was being directly controlled.

And Inu is just Inu.. if there was anyone that was masquerading as her, it could only be someone stupidly important, like the Time Lord. :p

  28. Just standing outside the tent in Moonglow, which 3 npc's are on the scene?

    Inu, Numan, Avery.

I'm not sure if this is a rumour can anyone confuirm this, when mouseing over the blackrock detector, part of it was indeed the Vortex Cube. This device was instamental in pulling items from the Void, with the aid of moonstones and lenses, (e.g the Codex of Ultimate Knowledge). Mord and myself wonder if useing this device it is possible to grab hold of shards from the Gem of Imortality from the Void to recreate the Gem of Immortality. The book the Shattering implies there are many Shards in many realities. The Wisps words (in Wisp Dungeon) say there are many people vying for power. The Vortex Cube on its own could creat gates to the best of our knowledge.

Well, there's nothing wrong with Dark Glove itself. As you get further away from the detector, pieces of buildings are missing, yes. But this isn't because they are "Destroyed," as there is no rubble. Whatever happened, froze time, and hence Moonglow.

As far as the enemies in Dark Glow is concerned, I believe they were pulled there by the Vortex Cube just like we were.

And as for the Haven vs Moonglow "experiment" theory, I don't know. I was taking a break from UO during the Haven plot.

I don't remember, do we know what happened to everyone of th FoA, could not some of them be involved in the council? Is maybe the council a new FoA??

As for Inu, I always kind of got the feeling that maybe she saw, or came into contact with something (Shadowlords, Timelords, something beyond the void) that clued her in to what's going on, but unfortunatley it's true nature (whatever it was) was so overwhelming that it fried her poor old brain. It would explain her prophecies, as well as her crazies [IMG]

  33. Yeh, it's not clear that we have all the principals, yet.

Re: Inu. I always thought they had used her to channel the Guardian or the S-lords or something, then she escaped. They used her to guinea pig the blackrock, basically.

Avery looks like a shadowlord, that's for sure. His name is a French version of Alfred, according to a website I looked at. Alfred means red-elf or elven counselor or just supernatural counselor.

Not really many solid clues. Could use a few more of those. We're just supposed to run around until we find Dexter?

  41. Avery says witnesses saw Dexter "leave the scene here in Moonglow". Not that he left Moonglow. Where did Kronos live?

I looked at the NPC houses on 'Glow. Didn't find anything though. There is a murder scene in a house, but my guildmate said it was an event 2 years ago. The house across from it looked like a mage house. These were north near Magicka.

Recdu'd to Pap, found Pier 39 and the bodies from the Ophidian invasion. The berserker and the little girl from the trial. The dude gave evidence that he watched from a tree while the berserker killed the little girl. Then they put the rap on Ricardo.

Well, the bodies are under the house, could not be seen from a tree outside (Falsehood). He watched while a little girl was murdered (Cowardice). Then they call for a lynching of Ricardo (Hatred). It seems to me that the trial was to display the shadowlords in action. They were all there.

Anyway, I found my third piece of blackrock, so I am done wandering and going to blow up a shadowlord. They are starting to piss me off.

Numan gets uncomfortable when you continue to question him about Sutek. Does he know where he is?

Now if I'm getting the context right, has he been called back early from his vacation. And if so would his holiday accomadation be an ideal place for Sutek to hold up for a few days?

(Big leap of faith required here]

He [Numan] mentions snapping turtles. Now the only mentioning of turtles I can find is in the monster guide. Here Kappa's are refered to as bipedal turtles.
As Tokuno kinda mirrors Japan in the real world and geographically lies in the south seas, could the isles of Tokuno be refered to as southern isles?
