Hey dev's how about when a mob enters the process of being "tamed" it becomes neutral so it cant be attacked by anyone or anything.

That way problem solved, as soon as someone is in the process of taming, the mob cant be attacked by anyone untill they fail or sucessfully tame it so no more grifing. People can still get away with just saying "im alowed to kill what i want as in this game, Blah Blah Blah......

Plus that way aswell you wont get people tame stealing, or waiting around hiddden untill you'v done all the work to subdue it or cleared spawn to get a nice one to spawn.

Simple "squeeks like the compaire the mearcat.com advert" :D

    Not a bad idea.

It's been a while though, you can't start taming something that is already being attacked right?

Part of the issue is everyone hitting their taming macro and if some jerks don't start the tame they will hit the target so the pet is too angry for the initial person to continue with that particular tame.

Once the first person is interrupted the taming process starts over and the person will keep doing it until they can try for the tame or it is killed.

If something was implemented along the lines of what the op mentioned it would alleviate a lot of the griefing tactics being used.

    Great idea. Brilliant.

You can't tame something that's being attacked. You'll receive the message, "This animal is too angry to continue taming."

Make this principle reciprocal: the animal cannot be attacked while it is being tamed.

Atleast make it like that in trammel: it is for provocation anyway, you get a msg like "this world is too peaceful for you to do that"

You can if you get the tame in just before they get the "next" hit in so it gives you 1.25 seconds to get a tame off.

Its not gona solve all problems but if you get the tame in it will stop everyone else from stopping your tame by hitting it.

As someone said, you get a message that its to angry to carry on taming as its to angry from someone hitting it so turn it round, you cant hit it if someone is taming.

With reguards to the current event and the problems taming the Bane dragons it will stop it all and give a bonus to all the people who have worked and earned 120 taming&lore real skill as they will be the most likely to suceed in taming (a benifit aslwell for all those looooonnnnnggggg hours to hit 120 :) )

Ill agree with that as fell is fell, anything goes so it'll be down to the best player (or the biggest guild) to win the taming war ;)

Seems reasonable to me. Even at 120/120, it takes a few tries to tame banes, so several folks would get a chance to try.

It'll still cause frustration between tamers. Because whoever starts the tame first is getting the protection from it - so if you want that pet and don't get the macro off first, you won't be able to do much about it. It might stop interruptions, but imagine a stealth tamer popping up and starting a tame lol. What we have isn't perfect, but if there were more spawns there's the option to tame elsewhere and avoid that hassle.

No different to how it is now really as you taming sucedding before someone interupts it is still the only way to win a tame amongst tamers. It would stop greifers who just kill to stop EVERYONE and give all tamers an equal chance. If yours doesnt go off first then hope it will why the other tamer is stabling it :)

I would be more comfortable with that variety of frustration, Wenchy. When someone tames a bane dragon and recalls out, I congratulate them and hope that the next tame will be in my favor. At least a tamer who sincerely wanted the pet received it.

In contrast, when someone is simply attempting to grief other players...I find that much more frustrating.

what makes me feel better is that the bane dragons do suck. 3 e-bolts and those things drop. I think I have killed 3 tamed, but not bonded banes LMAO

I just think it's a bit of shifting the frustration rather than fixing it. However it swings, tamers have to co-operate on some level and deal with other players. The old "you don't own the spawn" thing. I remember walking into a warzone when the dreads spawned in Tram, so I popped over to Fel and hid...and waited. Very easy to sneak a couple of dreads out and tame them. No conflict.

If there were several spawns, maybe one random location one, it would be much harder for griefers. Much easier for a tamer to find a quiet location and tame. Also quicker if you're not standing in line. I don't think you can concentrate all the tamers around one spawn and patch code in that will stop them acting like brats. Events bring every idiot out along with the lag, so if they can't do one thing to grief you, they'll do another.

Sadly though, I don't see any of these things changing, especially not for this event. Which truly sucks for the victims of the griefers :(

Yes and no, as you can kill the greifers. I think if siege was as populated as Atlantic (and had as many w@&kers) you'd have a bigger problem as only the biggest guilds would own the monopoly have bane dragons as they would control the whole spawn preventing anyone from having a chance.

Unfortunately, it seems the Europa griefers have been taking lessons from the guys on Atlantic. Guildie was trying to tame a bane yesterday and someone, who shall remain nameless but certainly better NEVER expect anyone from our guild to save or res their sorry ass EVER again, was killing every single bane that spawned.

Having said that - when I've been down there during griefer free periods, it's been really good to see the spirit of co operation between the tamers in pulling the banes out, subduing, peacing and taming them. They've been healing each other and generally helping each other out. And that's as it should be. You wanna grief, bugger off to Fel.

The tamable variety only spawn in the Abyss, which is Trammel rule set.

the devs could say they will leave the tamable swampmare on after the event ends. then grievers will stop grieving, thinking swampmare won't be special. then x amount of time goes by, devs turn off swampmare taming spawn, everyone wins.

ive said it before, put a 2nd bane dragon spawn in the primevil lich pvp area...

forces people to buy SA (which was why they put the dragon in the slashers' area), and at the same time its a FEL/PVP area so players will have to cooperate or have justice handed to them.

    Why?

  28. Beleg Megil

    Beleg Megil Guest

If it spawned at 5 or 6 locations in random order on that map (like the Shadowlords), then it wouldn't solve the problem completely, but it would make the griefers have to work extra hard at griefing. Tamers would have to work a little harder too, but I think they outnumber the griefers.

First yes the devs should probably make more spawns in more locations. But to lock out something becuase someone else is taming it is rediculous. That would be like me asking the devs to keep anyone else from attacking navery if I attacked it first.

The devs clearly didnt think about some things properly when introducing this but your remedy i dont think is right.

Because it fits his persona. If you pay attention to his posts and his board demeanor you can see why he would do it. A part because he can and a part because of the effect it could potentially have on you.

Of course, I couldn't possibly be able to discern someone's personality by the way they approach a given subject with their words on a message board. That would just be silly.

Well, his most recent post actually contained an argument. Occasionally, trolls truly arbor legitimate concerns, but often times their abrasiveness gets in the way, hehe.

Not really. His argument is apple to oranges. Navery cannot be tamed. Even if it was a greater dragon the OP's idea isn't truly hurting anyone's experience. It's easy to come up with excuses but a true argument he has not.

Navery is a stupid example. While two people cannot tame a pet in parts, Having multiple people attack Navery doesn't have the same effect.

Similarly, you can't herd something that's being tamed but you can tame something that's being herded.

I'll be herding something and a tamer comes along to "steal" it. The only way to counter the taming itself is to attack the animal, then get accused of griefing and interrupting their playstyle. rolleyes:

Honestly I don't think issues like this need a solution that borders on invulnerability. If you're playing a facet where someone can do these things without threat of repercussions, you already live by the grace of many protections. Uninterruptable taming would only add another layer of griefing. "Oh, you're killing that? Thanks for redlining it, I think I'll tame it now."
