Even if when you walked away it went immediately to IDOC it still takes up to an hour AFTER it falls for someone to place. That's really weird!

Did you just start playing? There has always been people in the " Know ". Especially when it comes to high priced property and items.

I saw the same sort of thing a few days ago. A keep fell and in about one second a keep went up. I just laughed and moved on. I have noticed other irregularities. Time generally.

Well, may the owner of the house placed another house 6 days ago (hence the greatly worn) and just finished taking his stuff out. Then he sold the house to another player who disliked the plot size or something and decided to take it down and quickly place a new one.

nah... this house had already gone the full cycle through to IDOC - then OSI owned a week or so ago...

I talked to that IDOC crew at the keep later (good folks by the way). They were as suprized as I was that the keep went up instantly.

havent been to an idoc in a while, never an osi one i think

but if the owners of the venders claim them, would that cause it to fall right away?

K a friend just told me no it wouldnt fall right away, but would on next stage.....

Wonder if thats the keep im in kelmo, though I didnt place it, it was placed quickly before another player, who is common for placing large homes and selling them for a handy profit, did.

Only thing I see wrong here is if OSI really owned it. Other then that, even in IDOC stage, can you not drop the house under your own free will, therefor nullifying the timer? Or with all the changes made of late, did the timer get wiped out by mistake?

The keep near wrong? You got the one at Vesper right?

  16. People there was NO vendors, THERE WAS NO owner, I wish I had Video.

It was there, Sign still said ''Greatly Worn" and then boom, house fell and I mean INSTANTLY house appears a little 7x7. No owner Resized it, No vendors Fell Nothing. House and Items disappeared and new house arose.

there was 2 venders in moving crate when i went by it a few days ago, thats what i was talking about..

I fully believe that it went greatly, then fell.... totally missing the idoc stage

& yes an owner can drop a house, even in idoc stage, BUT if house went thru idoc stages & had venders, then the house gets osi owned & wouldnt matter what original owner did, house is no longer his, so he cant drop it, cant resize it, cant take anything out of house...... (least thats how i understand it)

Houses that become owned by osi don't have the delay period after they fall for people being able to place. It is possible to gauge when a house will fall when it is in OSI status by when the rented vendors vanish. Houses that go through OSI status will not necessarily fall at IDOC, they can fall at any time during any stage based on when the rented vendors poofed +150 hours to claim their inventory out of the house sign, unless the goods get claimed early.

If you can nail down approximately when the house will drop you can be prepared to place. This also means scripters can sit there and get the times for both when the rented vendors poof and also be prepared to place. So that kinda stinks. But if you have tracking you can zip by several times a day and page on anyone who never seems to move and always seems to be there. *shrugs*

I'll take a look soon. Look at that I found the problem in patching and in everyones patching problem all at the same time. If the client can't reach the ip of the patch server then it continues to another ip to patch. It will continue going to different ip everytime you start the patching as it remmebers it's last ip address. The later ips sent down bad patches for some reason most likely server side. Well Thats what I think as I was monitoring the ip and ports it was connecting to. Had to reinstall again to verify. Anyway maybe am wrong but this sounds like a explanation. Should put that in the tech forum later to see if it can be verified by others.

Anyway back to you I'll be heading to check it out in a bit.

It was not just the keep that day, Kelmo. MV were able to place a castle straight away at the Safe Haven IDOC and another Gilfane member decided to place on Fire Island a few minutes after a tower had gone there. So it certainly seems that the timer is not working properly in all cases.

For the record, none of the above were OSI owned.

I have actually experienced this once before on Siege. A couple of years ago a friend's castle fell and we were there to rescue the items. We were amazed to find that we could place another castle almost straight away.

I saw this happen twice (once on Chessie and once on Atl) in the last month. EA owned houses are skipping stages and the timer seems to be broken.

UOA is as fast, if not faster than a scipt. There's a delay timer between placements, so human judgment is better. It does however require you to be there attended. I did that when I placed a house in the Grove of Love. But I also just sat there for hours and hours hidden at the house. Managed to beat the other house placers too using nothing but my reaction and UOA.

(for the record, UOA can record house placement tool menu selection and target, then you can replay it, which effectively places a house near instantly)

I have admittedly never been much of a placer. However there is currently roughly a 10 second delay (self imposed) that is needed between house placing attempts in order to not get a hot tool. With 10 accounts scripting placement that means you are getting in an attempt every second (more or less), rather than the non cheater who even tho they are attended only gets 1 try in 10 seconds. I think a regular player would be hard pressed to try to place every second with 10 clients for up to 3 hours without insanity setting in. So UOA may work better, but nothing beats scripts + multiple accounts.

As a long time idocer I can tell you this. Once a property goes OSI it can fall at ANY TIME. If there are vendors it wont usually fall till they are gone (note usually). They do in fact rarely fall at the end of a cycle but predominantly at some time during the cycle. So the fall you witnessed is absolutely normal.

What is NOT normal is the ability to place immediately, I too have seen this happen once and I can offer NO explanation at all for this.

I find it highly suspicious to say the least, not least of all because after it fell the player was obviously EXPECTING to be able to place to try to do so.

This is very odd because of the supposed cool down period before you are able to place.

I note Sarsmi posting that OSI houses do not have a cool down period, if so, this would explain the case quoted, it would not however explain the sole instance I have seen of a normal house being replaced at fall.

Sounds like the original owner reactivated and dropped the house so his buddy could place. By dropping it, that would allow immediate placement.

OSI houses are not owned anymore by any player, so the last owner cant do anything with the plot.

OSI houses can fall at any time, doesnt matter the current stage. The fall time and day depends on alot of factors like: vendors on crate, rental vendors or vendors owned by the last owner (those goes to crate too), time on the rental contracts, etc etc. On a certain situations, there is no timer to place a house in that plot and this only occurs on OSI houses. So.. that OSI house fall on ATL is just normal behavior.

The only think completely wrong in that scenario was the guy placing instantly. We all know that the guy used a script to do that but hey! dont worry.. the devs have a big big excel file with all the data.. rolleyes:

Exactly, all that matters is the GM has told his friend to be ready he is about to collapse it. Static is right, C-O-N-S-P-I-R-A-C-Y. Did IDOC's for four 2 years straight and have seen this exact thing happen on numerous occasions with HIGH end properties. Have even see one 18x18 that was LOADED with high end items fall at Greatly worn. I was trying to get the time of the change to IDOC. Had checked, waited 30 minutes and went to check it again and house was plotted and loot was being snatched by 2 people. There was a Serpents Hold snowglobe floating in the air and paged a GM to assist, it did not take 45 seconds and the page was answered and GM showed within two minutes. But, nah... nothing fishy there

I was at that house myself. It was greatly worn, owned by OSI (I was there when it went from IDOC, to OSI owned also). I had been jumping back and forth from 3 houses that were pending, all decent houses, I had been gone maybe 5 minutes and when I returned it had fallen and another house placed. I have seen it happen before like this, I have also seen houses with vendors change to OSI owned and never fall, even after months. Oh well, what are you going to do.....

The timer is random, so I'm guessing that it could go faster then the normal 45/60 minutes. But then again, I never place houses, just there to loot.

The timer is jacked Tom. I was on Napa watching a Castle a month ago and checked on it at around 9pm one night (fairly worn) then got up next day around 7:30 am and went to check on it. Everything was on the ground and it looked like it was decaying.

I don't care what anyone says, the timers on idocs are jacked right now.

  38. well kind of some closer to the story. The obvious scripter #1, placed his home and made the mistake of trying to resize, Someone dropped one of those bugged statues, which effected the "whole hour resizing issue". So everyone paged a GM, Gm removed Statue like 4-5 hours later and someone else placed and resized.

O well. Whacha gone do right?

High end OSIs invite cheating, and they already suck because of the timing issues. I have watched and camped and timed dozens of OSIs and I have caught ONE house one time by myself that was awesome, but still not worth all the hassle I've ever gone through. Someone already mentioned OSIs that get stuck in a loop and go on and on for years, theres a small on Baja that's been doing this for a long time. I remember there was a great one in Malas desert that I must have spent 100 hours watching and camping, and it was up for at least 2 years.

They are seriously not worth it to camp and get excited over, unless you are doing something else on the other side of your monitor and don't mind sitting there (or training whatever skills you can while sitting there.)

    I have seen this before.

    My take:

Once the house reaches "owned by OSI" status, the decay timer on the sign is meaningless.

The house can fall at anytime after it goes into OSI status.

While it is a random timer, I have noticed that it seems to trend towards no timer on the keeps and castles.... I call bull**** on that.

I'll say I've never seen a house drop out of cycle, but I've seen houses drop and place instantly. Happens quite frequently actually. I play Siege and have places 2 castles this way. I've also placed a luna house this way. Not sure why it happens. One castle I was alone so its not a bug that someone is creating. But I've been to houses where it seemed to take 1.5 hours and houses where it was just 15 minutes.

    its weird.

Yep he got messed up. If you placing on a valuable property never ever resize or do anything to it untill things are quiet like 2 weeks later at ongodly hours.
There is too many ways to screw up systems in UO. The statue gm's remove if requested. Takes time for gm to come though for that issue. So everyone like they won't remove it etc because they wanted the others to leave.
A sad situation. I stood there just long enough to hear there conversations and laugh a bit. I had a minor interest in the plot but had more important things to do in real life to keep watch.
