Maling's daughter came on UO yesterday and told us that her mother
had died. Maling made many friends on Atlantic over the years and
some have been writing about her in a book at the Book Store. Her
close friend, Julia, asked me to post some of these memories of Maling
    on Stratics.

These are words of pain. Through these memories comes an awareness
of a woman who touched many of us. In ways we did not understand
at the time, Maling became part of our real life and her passing is a
    real loss.

"Even in this make-believe world it gives me great comfort to know the
bonds and friendship we share. Rest well dearest Maling you will
always be remembered and have a special place in my heart. You are
special, bet you and the other angels up there are having a blast."
    - Love, lady Julia

"...maling was the timekeeper of the IDOCS. If you didn't see Maling
there you knew the house would not dare to fall yet.... Whatever you
are 'playing' now Maling, I know that whoever is there with you is
enriched by your very presence. Rest in peace. I really miss you."
    - Midnight

"I first saw her years ago, in old Haven, dropping remarkedly valuable
items on the ground for new players. 'I want new players to have
these,' she told me, 'They can't get them on their own yet.'"

"we really miss maling a very loving person you will live in our hearts
forever modess misses you alot we did alot of house decays together u
was one of uos best players and no one can replace you"

"There's not much words that can describe the feeling one feels when
someone is absent and no longer here. But we can pray that Maling is
seated next to God smiling and feeling well, and we pray to God to
mend the hearts of those who feel the loss. Rest in peace Maling."
    - From AuRoRa

"Maling was a great and generous lady. A DIVA in the best sense of
the word. Always stopping to greet me and wish me a good day even
as she rushed into her house. In addition to ... her generosity,
friendship and great IDOC abilities, Maling was a great decorator....
She had a great flair for putting just the right touch where it was
needed. I greatly admired her talents. ...she is missed - and
remembered and I feel a great personal loss. Rest in Peace Maling. Our
    Loss is Heaven's Gain."
    - Lady Tang

"While friendships seem to come and go here, as IRL, it's nice to know
deep bonds can develop and sustain here."
    - Draken-Corin

"You will be missed, yet remembered in our hearts. Our having known
you has enriched our lives. Godspeed Maling."
    - Lady Rachel

"My heart and prayers go out to your family and friends. May your light
    shine on"
    - Lady Aalia

"You will be greatly missed here but your friends will ensure that your
kindness is not forgotten, that your generosity will always be
remembered. My prayers go out to you and your family in both worlds."
    - Lady Andrasta

"Maling you will be greatly missed by new & old players alike. I'm very
sorry to hear that you have passed away. I hope the angels are
enjoying your company now as much as all your UO & IRL family &
friends have. Rest in Peace Sweet Maling."
    - Lady Lioness Heart

"Maling is my neighbor when we first moved in she welcomed us. She
always seemed so busy but always had time to come over and talk to
us. She was sweet and kind will miss seeing her at her house with all
    our love, rest in peace"
    - kellie and carter

"Maling you will be greatly missed by me and many others. .... Your
kindness will not be forgotten. .... My Prayers go out to you and your
    family in both worlds."

I’m sorry to say that I discovered a rogue book laying around someplace, the other day… and started asking around. It's hard to believe yet another someone I knew over the years could possibly be gone so soon. It's true I didn’t know her as well as I knew Karken… often times I just saw her hanging around the Del bank and talked to her in passing. I remember she moved her shop from the quiet area of Malas to north of Luna city… and it vanished one day. This had to be a couple years ago… then amazingly, back to where it was originally. And yet, it was all tricked out for Christmas. So, this book couldn’t be true. Yet, it seems it was. So soon after Kraken. 2 in 1 month.

My best to everyone that considered her their friend… her family, if they may be reading this post. I have no idea what happened… but I’m so sorry for this sudden bad turn. I know all too well how much it hurts mind and soul, but whatever happened… her pain is gone. I’ll miss her and her shop as it's been a place I’ve visited for more years then I’d care to admit… not that I will forget.

I never knew Maling in real life but felt like I did. Julia wrote a beautiful note about Maling (at The Book Store) that hit home for all of us who knew her in UO. Maling made friends and strangers alike feel like they were special to her. When she saw me shopping at Northern Star she would ask what I needed and then give it to me instead of making me buy it off the vendor which I would have gladly done. Her warmth and careing attitude made all our lives a bit brighter. I will miss you greatly Maling. Both worlds are a bit dimmer without our falling star.

I happened to pass through Atlantic and saw what was written on her bulletin board :( When ever I was on Atlantic I would try to stop by her house to say hi.. very sad news indeed. Blessings to her family and may her soul rest peacefully.

My God, I have just came back to UO after being in Aion for over a year. I used to do nothing but IDOCs. Maling and I would trade out stuff or just give each other IDOC items that I knew I couldn't use but that she could sell and vice versa. Sometimes I'd just drop off bags and bags of stuff after IDOCs since I only collect certain items and she had so many vendors and customers. We traded runes to IDOC locations and shared in the fun of the treasure hunt so many times I can't count them.

She was the most sincere person I had the chance to meet ingame and she definitely had her priorities between life and game straight. I know she liked to garden, as do I and we'd talk about that, the weather, just whatever... all the time waiting for something to drop.

God bless you gal and God bless your family, my heart is broken now.
