Open all facets to everyone red or not.

Have a switch you can use once to turn on pvp for a toon, then you are flagged as pvp and pvp can happen anywhere outside of town, all facets all lands.

Would a pvp switch allowing for pvp everywhere be a good thing? and if you choose nto to pvp you keep it off and cannot attack or be attacked in pvp. but also wont be able to heal, buff cure ect someone who is pvp if you are not pvp.

This would open the world to both play styles and they can co-exist and you have a choice to pvp or not.

A PvP switch was discussed over 10 years ago, as also pvp/non pvp areas and the white collars decided on a carbon copy and named it trammel.

So in other words we have well moved past the point of no return on options.

It is an option, but I would prefer a real split of the rulesets into distinct shards.

You're getting into that area of restrictions that seem unrealistic. So I don't like it and never have.

How about a real punishment for those who commit crimes within the world of Sosaria? One that does the following:
-limits "crime" (murder and theft) by the risk (hehe, had to use that word because of all the PK "you risk it, we reap reward" attitude) associated with justice for "the people".
-punishes those committing in-game crimes so that, yes, there is justice after all.
-satisfies the victims of the "crimes" that they are not the ultimate losers here.

How about it? The middle ground. Allows for crimes, realism, and builds social networks through cooperation. Gives meaning to the world, to crimes, to justice, to bounties, and to the societies that Sosaria's players can offer.

I love well articulated responses with whys and why nots.

From now on I will assume if someone replies to a post with a simple no with no explaination to have an IQ of less than 60.

I think methods like PvP zones, PvP switches and separate landmasses are just helpless endeavors of game designers who fail to come up with efficient solutions against player griefing, without driving away both passionate PvPers and such players who wish to avoid fights.

The only thing that would help is a different PvP system that penalizes blatant mass murdering, gives the normal player the opportunity to avoid risk to a certain limit, and still allows people to play a criminal or murderer.

I think we can agree that the following two extremes are a small minority:
    • Those who only play for the sake of mass-ganking and victimizing the weaker.
    • Those who never wish to be involved in any fight whatsoever.
Most normal players would accept a small and fair risk in the game, and most PvPers would accept a system that allows them to commit occasional crimes, but forces them to act more cleverly and sneaky.

For the passionate PvPers we still have Factions, and I assume that the upcoming Faction improvements will make the Faction wars even more interesting.

Okay - I'm gonna go back to the pre-Tram discussions on the old SnR. A switch is just one more thing a player needs to remember to toggle one way or another.

The introduction of the Tram ruleset however implements a consentual switch for all. If you go to Fel it is PvP+, else it is PvP-. Simple, effective and requires no added actions of a player to use.

Tram ruleset - primary definition disallows any PvP actions except Guild warfare. This includes the actions of training Snooping as well. To allow a switch PvP+ in this ruleset means removing/altering the underlying structure of that ruleset.

    I disagree with implementing this.

Coragin, I wanted to expand this to get into my picture of the war system, tied into this.

I have a problem with it, and hope maybe you or someone else can help.

Yes, we want some rowdiness available. That makes the world spin.
So I propose a war system like this.
    Guild or city/alliance.
Members of such can join the military order of any guild. If they do, they are open to all conflict with any other military orders of other guilds.
However, they also get extra resources from all sources, gold from MOBs, Ore, Lumber, Skins, gems, whatever.
These extra go directly to a War Chest owned by the guild and locked down in their Guild Headquarters.
The guild can sell resources from the war chest, dole them out, add to them by donations, it's basically a guild bank vault.
Wars can be declared by any guild on any other guild at any time.
-a challenge fee is put up at the war declaration. The winner of the war takes this amount from the other guild. The warred guild must pay this if they lose, either immediately or it is "owed" and comes out as any gold is added to their war chest.
War winners get a banner that states they have defeated "so and so" in a war, and the date.
You win the war by defeating the number of members in the military order.
Once killed in combat, the character is removed from the military order for a week. This gives meaning to attrition and a means to actually wear down an enemy. Don't die!
Non-military guild members are safe from conflict. They don't get the extra harvesting benefits. They can donate to the guild War Chest. They can be a productive part of their guild, without having to be a PvPer.

There's more detail in my idea, but that's the main parts.
My problem with it is that non-military members can interfere in battles while being safe from attacks. Heals and such is easy, bump them into the military for a time frame. But blocking is the hard one.

Any ideas to fix my problem? Does anyone even like the idea?

So a group could go spawn in fel without getting attacked since the switch is set to ‘no pvp’, may as well just get rid of pvp all together then. There is a place where the switch is always on, its called Siege.

Alright, captain smarty, care to whip out your WAIS results?

    How about this:

Open all facets to everyone red or not.

Have a PvP switch and once you flip if off, then you cannot leave trammel. Fel, Ter Mur, Ilshenar, Malas, etc. would all be PvP consent only areas. If you are flagged as non-pvp then you can not be healed, cured, or buffed by someone who is pvp flagged.

This would open the world to both play styles and they can co-exist and you have a choice to pvp or not.

So basicly from what I am reading on the nay sayers its all about powerscrolls and killing non-pvpers that come to get them?

Lets say power scrolls never existed, then would this be a good idea? My guess is yes and the only reason anyne says no to an idea like this is all about powerscrolls and farming gold. If PS werent an issue, I dont think the pvp switch would be either.

I think besides the power scroll issue, people dont want a switch because the fear it would completely ruin pvp 100%. In which case if that is a fear of yours, then possibly there i something wrong already.

There is a game called Hello Kitty Online which I would like to recommend to all the people who wants everything handed to them without any risk and real challenge.

Life is a lot beautiful in those games. rolleyes:

Before the OP pull any kind of personal attack I am merely making a recommendation base on your demand... Hello Kitty Online is the ideal shard you are looking for, and I can promise you no one will ever bother you there... and you can make your house out of fruits and candies, and have your own little garden too!!!

    Wrong again.

No, because we don't want it to happen. Period. When you go to Fel, if we see someone, we know we can engage them. That's the freedom we like in Fel. We like running around, knowing we can be attacked, or attack anyone we feel, PvPer or not.

Fel existed and thrived prior to powerscrolls for a long time.

Non-PvPers shouldn't go to Fel. But on the offchance they do, they certainly shouldn't come to the boards whining about how Trammel deserves powerscrolls.

  20. It's possible that the poster thought thought that:

    A) This topic in one of many variations has been posted dozens of times in the past and thoroughly discussed and that anyone re-hashing the same topic over again probably has an IQ of less than 60 and didn't take the time to research past posts, and any explanation (or explaination, as some would call it) would fall on deaf ears... :bdh:

    B) The idea is a really bad one and not worth discussing once again, but someone with an IQ of less than 60 wouldn't understand that anyway...

    C) This idea would fundamentally change the way Trammel and Felucca interacted and EA/Mythic has been trying to find that balance for 12 years and still hasn't got it right, but anyone with an IQ of less than 60 would have difficulty grasping the concept...

    D) They were in a hurry to race through yet another dead-end in Felucca quest to read some silly book just to get ganked by a group of hormone challenged teenies or wannabe PVP gods and goddesses with IQ's less than 60...

    or most likely,

    E) The OP has such a low opinion of anyone who would disagree with his/her thoughts that they would get disregarded out of hand and probably have their intelligence insulted anyway, so why post more?

OH, and on your original question... I say....

    NO.

    MORON!

Seriously shut up! The PVP switch would allow for fighting ANYWHERE not just Fel! Opening up a LARGER area to fight in! Everything you just said would STILL BE THERE!

Can be attacked at anytime? check
Can attack other pvp'ers at will? check
Larger area and mroe areas to fight in? check

Seriously did you wake up this morning with your head in your ass and is it still there? EVERYTHING you just said would still be available just on a LARGER scale! Are you pretending to be stupid or are you honestly this dense?

ah, look, the child can't comprehend anything again.

All right, tell me. PvP switch then. If I'm hunting in an area that I want to keep for myself or my friends, and some guy comes in with his PvP switch on, can I force him out? The answer is no. I realize you live in your little box, but do try to comprehend that this game isn't tailored for your experience, and it never will be. The PvP switch is a horrible, horrible idea.

Let me lay out two situations for you...

    1) Person A is fighting demons, PvP switch on.
Person B comes in to demon spawn, PvP switch off. Person B starts killing the demons Person A was fighting.
Person A can do nothing about it.

This happens in Trammel already, but your idea would allow this to happen across the entire game.

    2) Person A is fighting demons in Felucca
Person B comes in to demon spawn, wanting to kill demons.
Person A fights Person B for the spawn.

This happens in Felucca, and it's how we like it.

Now go cry somewhere else, please.

To the OP, really really seriously... Hello Kitty Online is THE GAME for your kind. Especially for your kind of people.

  27. See now, there you are starting with the insults... no sense of humor. Seriously, at least learn to accept that someone might disagree with you without shouting:

    "MORON!

    Seriously shut up!"

That's just nonconstructive and plain bad manners.

  28. Coragin

    Coragin Guest

rofl, always gotta resort to the "cry" statement. Always makes me laugh.

Your analogy makes no sense as to Fel would work the same as it does now. I proposed no changes to fel but to Trammel only. Please show me anywhere I said in my OP where there would be any ANY ANY ANY change to fel. Oh cant find it? Maybe because my suggestion was for trammel! As my origin post says.

Honestly am I arguing with *******? I proposed no changes to Fel in my OP!

  29. Right or wrong on his comments, who would want to offer you anything useful if you are going to continue to insult people and expect a useful discussion? This thread is going nowhere fast because of it.

Perhaps step back, take a deep breath and rethink your position.

The reason is then the consentual PvPers never have to interact with non consentual PvPers again and vica versa, and everyone can happily play and access all content in their playstyle of choice.

A PvP switch is starting to sound good though and it would be easy to implement. Also if there is someone spamming stupid stuff you can just put them on ignore.
