    eventually for pvp....

I cant decide if I want to go with inscription for a pure mage build or try something new with parry

I would need a stat scroll, right? How much do those go for?

did the professions forum dissapear? They used to have a sticky about it I think...crap

Yes it is, that what I currently run. 120 parry and 110 ninja on my mage. You have to rely on SDI jewelry if you want to get your damage output up any, but i can usually survive a dexer gank, even when dismounted.

You need like 80 dex for it to work well though, right?

I thought it was 75, but with a penalty for every point your under 75. Ill run like 40 dex, chug a dex pot and just take the penalty . To me if it saves me from dismount 25% of the time its worth it. Plus it causes dexers alot of pain trying to get through max dci, parry, and wrestle.

This is the template im currently building. I have 255 stats, around 90 parry(will be 120), run with a blessed 1/3 with high sdi, some dex bonus, suck pots, and eat the damage. I have to sayI miss the days when I ran with the arcane shield, no dex penalty, and a 3/4-5 cast rate, with anat and heal. That char was damn hard to kill even dismounted. I have noticed the parry already helping vs archers and im sure at 120 wrestle/parry I'll be even happier.

I run this Template as well. I run it with an Ecru with 15%DCI so i chug a pot and im at 88DEX. 120 Parry 120 Wreslte 75%DCI. I am virtually undismountable and almost impossible to kill. However, the downside is I have almost no damage output unless im willing to run throw away scrappers which will limit my ability to chug pots which im not willing to do. Basically I have accepted the role of Xhealer and im fine with that for now.

I know the best offense is a good defense, but I dont know if I would want to be the alltime healer role....

Its good that you are near impossible to kill, but if you cant dish out damage....is it even worth it?

that is the trade off for almost any template on siege, except the tamer of course.

Yea thats true....guess I have some thinking ahead of me...

Anyone running healer mages anymore ? (with anat and healing?)

I guess that requires higher dex too

It is absolutly worth it. I mean after you except the fact that 1v1 is long dead and that team or gankwork is the ruling pvp style. I would much rather make sure my team doesnt die and I get to loot the kills from there massive damage. Trust me not many guild X heal effectively. And most of the time as soon as they figure out who the healer is they go after that person like a freight train. While they are fruitlessly attacking me the others just ruin their day. Its not about being the tuffest guy on the field.... just the one left standing.

Enigmas dead on; I'm often the only mage in my group and I take alot of heat.
If me staying alive takes two or more guys off them and allows them to drop some of the opposition then I'm fine with it. There is so much more a mage can do on a battlefield besides exp/ebolt than can help turn the tide of a battle but it can only be done if you can stay alive and get some spells off.
I always liked the big team fights anyhow; imo its what siege was built on.
