i would like to know if there's a list of alterable item's/weapon's thank's!.
Would be nice to see a list, although i was under the impression that if it wasnt an arty then it could be altered? probably wrong though
(Arties include minors as well as majors )
Well that suck's if that's the case cause minor's and major artie's are important to get the extra dci needed to counter HLD since every weap has HLD on it
In beta, the only things I could remember not being able to alter were headgear, neck pieces, and gloves. And half-aprons (**** that).
I think you might need to be legendary in skills of smith tailor ect to alter minor's/major artie's? can anyone confirm this?
No idea. I didn't try with anything less than max in beta, sorry. :/
Disregard all of this. Just went on Test Center, 120 blacksmith, 100 mining, 100 armslore, 120 imbuing. Heart of the Lion, Fey Leggings, and Arcane Shield were all unalterable, so I'm thinking it'd be a safe assumption to say that artifacts can't be altered, which is pretty ****ty tbh.
What?!, that is just plain dumb!!! how the crap are garg's suppose to get enough dci??
Maybe they should let us imbue that property onto necklace's and earring's to make up for it!
We could do that in beta too. They got nerfed hard after beta apparently.

Playing a gargolye is USELESS!! unless you can covert the minor's/major arties into garg wearable
Mining gloves are not alterable too
Well of course not, what exactly are you going to alter them with???
Gargoyles cannot wear gloves...so what are you going to alter gloves into??
Nothing. But do they have an equivalent? being able to reach 105 mining can be important for a crafter.
The tailor and blacksmith NPCs in the Royal City do not hand out BODs. I wonder if they are going to offer a different type of quest/reward system with rewards that are more suitable for gargoyle characters.
If I am not mistaken you could convert artifacts in the Beta but they removed that ability either just before launch, at launch, or just after due to the fact that artifacts do not alter properly, or become imbalanced or something of that nature. I believe draconi mentioned in the fof about them working on a new way to alter artifacts so they would keep their designed stats.
Mining on a gargoyle is a mistake IMHO, as both elves and humans have a bonus there, while gargoyles haven't. So if you have the room, let mining on another character (human or elf). Mining isn't directly required in a crafting template, there's no synergy bonus from it.
Leather Shorts (plain leather looted item) altered to Gargish Leather Leggings. Have no male characters to test whether a male gargoyle can wear them.
Leather Suneate (plain leather looted item) altered to Gargish Leather Leggings.
Leather Bustier (another plain leather looted item) altered to Gargish Leather Chest. Have no male characters to test whether a male gargoyle can wear them.
A Platemail Do made out of plain iron converts to a Gargish Platemail Chest. If it was exceptionally crafted it retains its "Mage Armor" property.
In all four cases, the altered items had the same resists and properties (except for the addition of a "Gargoyles Only" tag) as they had before alteration.
Edited to add:
Ran into a snag on converting that samurai armor. Grrrrr. My blacksmith isn't very good, not quite GM. Made a pile of the platemail do with what was left of a DC runic hammer and a shadow iron runic hammer. The first couple of exceptionally crafted do's converted just fine, but ran into one that won't.
At first I thought the issue was "too many properties." However, the one that won't alter has the same number of properties as one that did alter.
Do #1 (alteration successful):
Mana Regen 1, Luck 96, Mage Armor, 7/5/4/6/4 resists
Do #2 (get message that she can't alter it):
Stamina Regen 2, Night Sight, Mage Armor, 7/7/5/5/2 resists
Her imbuing skill is still just 40. I really didn't think IMBUING skill was a requirement to do alterations. Perhaps it is?? Otherwise, I don't understand why two platemail dos made out plain iron, exceptionally crafted, with the same number of properties don't follow the same rules for alteration.
Very very puzzled. But then again it's early morning and I should really be in bed. Everything puzzles me at this hour. LOL
Edited to add yet more comments:
NONE of the darn dos made with runic hammers will alter now. Not a one. Even the crummiest ones. Did something just change at the top of the hour as I was experimenting, even though the server I'm on (Sonoma) is still two hours away from getting Publish 60.1?? I can still alter platemail dos made with a regular smith's hammer, but that appears to be it.
And yet more comments:
Walked away from the soulforge and came back and now the dos will alter. I'm totally puzzled at this point. Why they wouldn't alter, then they would, then they wouldn't, and now they will again. Freaky! Nothing's changed in her blacksmithing or imbuing skills during that time either. Doesn't seem to be a weight issue either. She's been overloaded and that hasn't stopped the alteration process either. She's switched between using tongs and smith hammers and that doesn't seem to be the reason for why it worked and didn't work. Very very strange.
Why can't I alter my juggernaut set, it's ticking me off badly. I have 71 Imbuing and 87 Blacksmithy.
Can't seem to alter any wood armor so i'd say that was changed.
i believe none of the sets can be altered, at least i couldnt alter any of them doing open beta
Is altering tied to skills? Is there any documentation on this? I couldn't alter woodland armor as in the list posted.
That's pretty stupid, unless they plan to release a whole bunch of gargoyle only arties and sets.
Is this list busted for weapons? I cannot alter a freshly made bone harvey, katana, radiant scim all made from iron, but it will let me alter a longsword and broadsword.
I'm a lil confused...
