I just saw this on UOGuide:

"Swing Speed Increase (SSI) is an item property that increases the rate at which a character uses his or her melee weapon. The rapidity of a character's attack is affected by the base speed of the weapon used, the amount of Stamina possessed, and the amount of SSI his or her items impart. Barehanded combatants swing at the fastest Weapon Base Speed possible, which is 2.5 seconds or 10 "ticks". Swing speed is never less than 1.25 seconds, or 5 ticks."

Does that mean no matter what your dex or swing speed from items is at you won't be any faster then 2.5 when wrestling? Cause according to the calculator at 94 dex and 5% Swing speed increase it puts you at 1.5... Is this broken, am I wrong or whats up?

i'm getting 5% Swing speed increase from Ranger's Cloak of Augmentation. and i'm 94 dex no pots self blessed since it's a wrestle parry mage template. Total stats without pots self blessed are 132/94/127... +55 stats on suit.

When the guides were written, both UOGuides and Stratics, there were no items with SSI that weren't weapons. I don't think we've had any information on ssi with wrestle from the devs to update it. :(

What about this question... If you are a parry wrestle mage without bushido skill and say you have 100 dex for example... Will you lose block percentage if you have a spellbook in your hand as well as a shield? This is what I read on stratics:

"Well for parry to be effective on your template you'll need to carry a shield, not a mage weapon. If you carry a mage weapon your parry is actually waisted, unless you have bushido."

he was replying to someone elses question, but I didn't know if spellbooks fell into the same category as a "weapon"? Or if having a spellbook in my hand while holding a shield would make me lose any chance of blocking.

Pass. Sorry, you'll have to wait for someone more knowledgable than me to wake up.

I would guess that at the time this was written the only mage weapon ever used was a staff of the magi, which in this case would be true since it's a 2 handed weapon. Bushido and 2 handed weapons block a higher % then parry with a shield. As for a spellbook in your hand with a shield, you will parry the same as if it wasn't there. I have run a parry mage with a 1 handed mage weapon and that works also.

As for wrestle I can't tell you exact swing speed numbers, but at your level of stamina you should be punching pretty fast. I just trained wrestling with my sampire and he was swinging fast (170ish stamina) then I put it on my mage drank a dex pot (60ish stamina) and it seemed to be pretty decent. Obviously the sampire was swinging a little faster but not by much. I wouldn't put a whole lot of thought into hitting with wrestling, it's a hit or miss type deal you combo go in for a disarm, if it hits nice if not.. well go back to casting and try again. I have played a few wrestle parry mages over the years and I have never had any issues disarming...it's usually mana issues.

What do you th ink I should do Cedric? Use a spellbook, if I get disarmed my SDI is only 8 but with spellbook it would be max of 30 for the focus class. I would get 30% Hit chance from jewelry though...

Or should I put SDI on the jewelry and not have to worry about a spellsook so I have 30 SDI without a book and I can chug pots? Suit has no EP on it either.

    What would you do Cedric?
