so i was out shopping, needed to pick up some imbuing stuff, and the stuff i wanted was buried under all the other stuff the vender had on it.

and then i was thinking.... why the heck would this fella put his stuff in the vender like this?

cause he just lost my sale.

then i got to thinking..... does EC still set up the pack so you see each item in a little box slot?

cause if that is the case, THIS is the mess that it looks like in 2D !!!!!!

You are correct. He needs to switch to Legacy containers before setting up his vendor...

yes, you cant stock vendors with the EC, if you do everything you put it in will be stacked up in the corner on top of eachother. :(

you would think they DEVS would have FIXED this by now.. but i guess they cant figure it out.

You can stock vendors with the EC, You just need to put Legacy settings for Containers on first.

They had teh same problem with the Third Dawn client.
Another case of history repeating itself cause no one learns from it.

Anyone who couldn't stock a vendor in the old 3d client simply didn't know where the "2d box" was located. Personally, I stocked vendors all the time in 3d and noone ever knew the difference.

However, the more people who recognize the usability of grid and list views, the better... while it doesn't have the "art" of freeform (well, ok actually the EC DOES also have freeform, but let's stick with grid/list views), it more than makes up for it in being able to keep things nicely sorted and easy to locate without the need for a bag in a bag in a bag in a bag, etc.

I always thought it was strange in the first place that town-NPC vendors always used a list view system while character-NPC vendors used the freeform backpack... but that's just me.

I love the Grid/List options, but I'd hate to loose "Backpack Art".

We associated each grid cell to a location in the Legacy container.

In a 5x25 layout (5 columns, 25 rows), the top left cell (column 1, row 1) is associated with the top-left most point in the Legacy container.

The bottom-right cell (column 5, row 25) is the bottom-right most point in the Legacy container.

If you space out the items across every few rows, you can get a decent arrangement.

By Publish 66, we're hoping to get you folks resizeable grid/list view.

I wonder how resizeable packs will further mess up how 2d'ers see vendor bags. Hope not.

Resizeable grid/list view won't effect it at all.

The idea will still be the same. The top-left most grid cell will be associated with the top-left most point in the Legacy container. The bottom-right most grid cell will be associated with the bottom-right most point in the Legacy container.

So with a little practice it should be doable... Thanks!

    Another thought.
Is the "list view" getting resizeable feature advantage? As is, it's hard to figure what some items are since they get cut off as you scroll through. If we could widen the pack, then hopefully we can see full descriptions in list view.
What would be a godsend would be to have jewelry display mods in list view as follows
    Instead of:
    ring
    ring
    ring

    Be able to see:
    ring (then mods)
    ring (then mods)

I keep rings in boxes and bracelets in other boxes, so this would make it real easy to find. Would really help while shopping vendors and browsing through jewelry too.

Yes , He used the enhanced client to load the vendor. The items are just stacked on top of each other when you switch back to 2D. Infact I tend to use EC when I really want to search my chests. Sometimes my chests are full and you can't see everything in there (in 2d)

The grid view that is available in EC should be available in 2d that way you can see a list of items one by one. Maybe a EC pack view option in option of the 2d client

Except that it should not. The Classic client is in the process of passively being phased out. All major features from this point will be added to the Enhanced client, with only bare compatibility added for the Classic client.

That's the oft-stated and oft-ignored development track stated over a year ago before SA was released. In other words: try the EC and get used to it.

This was always a problem between third dawn and 2d...

While you all are working on the container problem think also about trading...

As long as I can remember trading between 3d and 2d was a problem.. not sure how it is now... but it was then.

Test it and get back to you.

For compatibility I stock my vendors in grid view first, then tweak in legacy view. The grid layout is maintained when you rearrange in legacy, but if you start in the reverse order you run into problems.
