July 98 I stumbled upon the greatest game I have ever played. Unfortunately the game went into a direction I no longer Enjoy, I have not played the game for a year or so holding out hope they will make a classic shard, alas its not going to happen so I bid UO farewell. No you cannot have my stuff its gonna go IDOC then you can have it. Peace!

Why do people have to announce they are leaving the game and blah blah blah? You want a sticker or something?

Well Mr Kaleb, sorry to see you go. I left for 5 years--tried every online game I could find--WoW, DDO, LOTR, Eve, Warhammer, etc.--and nothing comes close to the fun I get from playing UO. Good luck to ya.

Because they are making apublic statement as to why many times ... perhaps information EA would see more readily here than any customer survey.

you want classic shard? go play on siege essentially the same thing minus AOS items.

if siege is dead classic shard will be dead too because no one likes having no insurance for their stuff.

Same, you need to bank most of it or put it on your chars because you'll regret it later on. I know I did.

Except you're only allowed one character on Siege. Why don't you try deleting all of your characters on the accounts you have and play with only one per account. Do you want to do that? No? Why not?

People who think Siege = classic shard are just deluded trammies who spend all their time in UO fighting dragons and planting flowers. This is such a terrible argument for anti-classic shard people. Most PvP'ers on production shards like having multiple PvP templated characters along with a PvM template and a mule. On a production shard with one account, you can have 3 PvP'ers 1 PvM and 1 mule. That's 5 seperate accounts on Siege.

Anyways, to the OP - Good luck with whatever you do, I understand where you're coming from.

i love how everytime fel players see something they dont like they start ragging on trammies, but the truth is if we "trammies" decided to go on strike and stop producing the goods you pvpers need to pvp then all of you would be in tram farming for the materials to imbue your pvp suits, arrows to fire your bows, and regeants to make your potions.

I would have no problem with that challenge... I have 11 accounts - mostly to hold houses... of that, I really only play with one character anyway. Tazar is it. Of course, he has soulstones and is able to change skills and suits, but that could be done on Siege as well.

Most of my post was debating your Siege = classic shard point. I did a little ragging on people who don't know much about Felucca PvP'ers because they spend all their time in Trammel and then come here to try to debate it. I do fine farming that stuff myself, and I'd farm it in Fel (for the enhanced loot tables) if they would have made the Stygian Abyss dungeon available on both facets. I apologize if I came off a bit terse but it's a poor argument that seems to come up over and over again.

Trust me. Follow this advice. lovingly pack up every important item and momento.

You have your bank, a back pack and a bug you ride off into the sunset on.

Take the time to sort though it all. Advice from an Idocer...

That's fine. How much do you pay a month for all 11 of those? I'll tell you right now, it's not what I'm willing to pay just to have a "classic shard" experience that isn't even completely classic. I'll stick to my one account on Chesapeake, at least for now. But you're missing the point, Siege is not a replacement for what most people asked for with a classic shard. So I completely understand why this guy is leaving, rather than playing Siege.

that one character on siege is simply dumb, im sorry but it is.

mugen maybe but ... whats the reason to have one character ?

do they really think there would be no 'community' if more than one character is allowed ? such a terrible idea.

Siege is dead because it's AoS. If there was a non AoS shard (EA owned) I'd be playing that full time. no Aos = Classic to most people.

so if you were part of something for 12 years and you decided to leave it, you would just walk away and not say bye? What about when you break up with your girlfriend/boyfriend do you just ignore them and hope they get the idea? It's called closure, most humans feel better with it.

Old player here, just came back to UO last night. I see we're all having the same old arguments. Before Trammel, when I was younger, I (mostly) enjoyed the thrill of danger and the player-made wilderness communities, necessary for safety in numbers. Back then, almost everyone knew something about PvP, save some pure merchant players. An RPer who played a warrior but couldn't PvP was considered a horrible RPer. I'm sure that doesn't even make sense to modern MMORPG RPers. Even if you didn't PvP, you inevitably knew a little about defending yourself.

Though it's worth saying, I probably enjoyed the communities more than what made them so necessary. But alas, with one loss came the other, and many player-built cities withered into ruins, and then dust. Only in recent years has UO begun to regain a "community feel", though it's a different sort. Anyway, I'm older now. Mostly coming back for a big serving of RP, PvM and pixel crack, so I'm assuming I'll fare better than the OP. :)

Anyone around from The Nobility on Great Lakes circa 1997-2003? If so, send me a message. I'm moving to Atlantic since I hear that's the biggest RP community now.

I"ve left the game a few times, each thinking it was the final time. Never felt the need to say anything on forums. Just my close friends. What do most of these people care if I leave? I mean, a few would jump off a bridge, but the majority could care less, they probably would just want my stuff.

    Its a game.

Actually, it was a very well thought out idea. I'd take the time to explain it, but I just can't be bothered. I'm thinking even if it was explained in lay terms to you, that you'd never really grasp what an old timer means when they speak of 'community'.

Although, I'm sure you'll inform me that you in-fact were around then and in doing so will totally render my comment BS.

I'm always impressed with posters such as yourself. I suppose there is an art form to being a ******.

It is the official forum so maybe he considers it feedback. Also for every person that post a "It was fun" post there are 10 that don't. Most people don't feel the need they just quit. UO isn't getting new or returning players as fast as it's losing players and most players have multiple accounts so losing one player is like losing 2-3 accounts. That has to be a concern for anyone that wants this game to live on.

Hi NorCal. How do you know this? Can you please post some hard numbers? It seems exactly the opposite to me.

    Thanks

First off I want the devs to know why their Vets are leaving, 2nd I did play siege from opening to about a year after aos, and in no way is it near a classic shard. AOS and siege are like Chocolate and sardines, they just dont go together. As for mmo's naa dont think so, I also tried a lot of mmos and couldn't get my self to want to pay for another month. Im not bitter or doing this out of anger, I just cant justify spending $45 a month for something I no longer enjoy. UO gave me a ton of great memories and the pleasure to meet and be friends with a lot of great humans from all around the world from the comfort of my home, and that I will always hold close.

    Edit:
@norcal, At one time I was paying for 9 accounts, I took down my last 3, my 3 oldest.

Why do you care whether people say goodbye or not...? No one forced you to click on the thread, and it would certainly have been less effort on your part had you just closed the thread once you saw it didn't interest you.

    This

Funny thing about Siege Perilous...it's mainly filled with pvmers

All the pvpers have left the shard because of lack of fights :)

People play Siege because its the last stop in how the game was originally played. Never knowling when you may get attacked...counting on friends when you die out pvming and don't want to lose your suit. Ah..the memories:)
