Just seems to get worse :(

Discussion in 'EA Land/The Sims Online Stratics Forums' started by imported_MollyG, Mar 4, 2008.

  1. Went on this morning and the payouts are even lower than they were. Looked in a few shops and surprisingly the prices aren't reflecting this. Checked the fridge and HC is still the same price. I understand that we are in a recession, but this is beginning to be a bit too much like real life. I'll stay for a few more days to see if things change, but at this rate, the game is becoming time/money prohibitive. It's enjoyable to host a house, but if you have to spend all day making money in order to host, it really takes the fun out of the game. I am one of the few or many(depending on who you talk to) who refuses to pay real life money for game money, not when I already subscribe and pay my fees. I play the game to escape real life for a short while. I don't want to feel that this has become a second job; I work too many hours in my first one. Hopefully the changes are temporary and that the economy will reset itself. Otherwise I'll be selling a very nice money house to anyone interested.

    Molly,
Don't give up yet. Currently the Dev team is adjusting the economy manually. With the merges and all the problems people are having even logging in, they just have not had time to reevaluate the economy issue. I totally agree with you that this has gotten out of hand. Land in some areas are selling for over 1 million bucks. How can they expect anyone to afford something like that even a year from now. Give it some time. I think after Amesty comes and the merges are completed, the Dev team will look into the economy.

I own a store and I noticed today that alot of the catalog prices have went down so i'd say within the next few days those things will become cheaper.

Molly, payouts suck, its hard to run a property, things are really slow right now.

But NO ONE knows how things will end up. Some of us can say it will get better and some of us can say it won't. But the truth is we are all clueless and trying our best to support a game we all love. I hope you will give it some time. If you feel a free account would better suit you at this point, that is up to you, but I hope you will give it some time before making a definite choice.

And the positive of their bungled attempt at a closed economy is exactly what?

As for our blithering cheerleaders who love shouting down anybody who dares to voice anything other than their "TSO is the bestest, and our dev's rock!" mantra, no I won't "get over it". I perceive them as a problem far worse than bots, trial account abuse, exploits, or even incompetent dev's. The cheerleaders have caused more damage to this game by reinforcing moronic design decisions and quieting dissent, than the damage any of the other issues have caused.

So, hopefully it is just a glitch or something they are working on so I will wait and see. Also, Molly I was in money lot this morning and also noticed the payouts were half what they were yesterday with max people and skill.

As I've stated in the past, the people with the good moods win! Bad moods get you nowhere. I've always been stating to people in game payouts will go back up but the bots and the trail account abusing is just wrong! They are working on a fix, that was from a dev I heard myself!

Seriously Roger, if you feel the way you do about this game, why would you even stay in it? I like this game even with all of its flaws.I have played since 2003 and I will continue to play until it goes down or I do (which ever comes first) I hope it makes a turn around because no matter what your opinion is about the creators, dev's and anyone else behind the scenes, they are working harder then he-- to keep it from going under so why the harsh words. You may call me a cheerleader if you like but considering my age and my bad knees I would have to take it as a compliment.

It is really hard to stay positive. The lag improves, then gets horrible. I keep thinking all will work out, but negativity sneaks in. Between crashes to my desktop, the lag, low payouts, owners going broke feeding sims with 0 money, it's tough. I have to wonder what the new players think of all this? I know the developers are working hard.. weekends even... a HUGE change from the years when we couldn't get any response at all. But..... here comes the but... nothing has improved YET.
    Trying to hold on.

  16. WOW - seems like I touched a nerve. I understand the need to reset the economy, try to find a way to thwart the bots and keep everyone happy at the same time. One would think however that in the midst of doing all this that cutting payouts to just one-tenth of their former rate would only irritate regular folks like me. If I were a bot - I wouldn't care if it took 10 times as long to make money, because I'm a 24/7 bot. I however, am not. Limited time causes the frustration. I don't mind working for my money, but to go from a decent rate to slave wages is hard to handle. HOWEVER this post was to vent as well as to promote discussion, not arguments, name calling and further irritation.

Can't we all play nice and use our respective intellegence for good things. [IMG]

Since sims have to eat and since we now start with 0, I wonder if that one need, to eat, could be adjusted just a bit. A slight 'free green' on that one need. That shouldn't help the bots a whole lot but it would really help owners feed the hordes of hungry sims.

I know what your saying and I agree with you.. some days I don't even log on but I know that we're in the beta stage right now and with all the changes and moves the performance of the game is going to be bad a big part of the time. I hope that money payouts are increased and from what Luc had said before, they will. I think we will know more by the end of the month or the first part of April since some of most critical changes are to take place this month. I just hope all goes well because I do love the game and enjoy the people that play for the most part. All you simmies are the best part of this game . You guys are toughing it out regardless of all the BS.

Plus, it will stop the botters for a little bit while they try and regroup. In that time, the rest of us could enjoy a little bit better payout for our bot factory job.

All the devs have to do is put the payouts back to what they where before they lowered them on Saturday , and then they can adjust the payouts once they know for sure exactly what they are doing with the economy regarding lots prices and stupid bot programs etc...

It was not a good idea to just lower the payout so drasticly while they figure out what they are going to do...

So, just put the payouts back to normal for now please and we will all be happy [IMG]

  30. *Just hitting reply*

I wasn't able to play this morning, so what is the payout on a maxed skill now?

Before EA Land opened Luc stated that he was not worried about the bots, then a week or so after opening the payouts were lowered because they didn't want bots making so much money. But Luc, I thought you weren't worried about the bots?

Now the payouts are even lower? I'm almost ready to throw in the towel and cancel my accounts. The game isn't worth playing if you can't set goals, and the reality of the game is that you NEED money to reach many of your goals within the game.

By the way, I do believe that many of the free player won't subscribe or even think about revisiting the game after it is out of beta for the simple fact its very hard to get a bitter taste out of your mouth. And EA is definately giving this game a very bitter taste.

My prediction for the game: It will close when they reach the date they have been given, because no one will stick around let alone newbies subscribing to a game that depletes all the fun that should be in a game.

    IMHO

Firstly, everyone is entitled to their opinions, good and bad. People seem to get upset when you're happy with the game when they're not, and the people that are happy get upset with the people who are not. Honestly, I haven't played an MMO yet where I knew everyone was either happy or unhappy. Both sides are necessary. I went through my periods of discontent, I quit a few times, gave away everything and let my characters fade away, but all this change was something I wanted to experience, and there will always be hiccups along the way.

I'd rather find the silver lining then sit under the rain all day.

I think the lowered payouts need to remain the same.

Fixing the economy was the original idea a year ago when Luc first visited Stratics.

Its not perfect now, but a work in progress. To allow things to go back to the way they were would be a definite failure. How do I know? The game failed before that way.

Obviously they saw a need to lower it.

this is a work in progress. I like to believe that one day we won't rely so heavily on the things we currently do to make money. But I also know that if we keep comparing this to the old TSO we will never get very far.

you have to know that the old TSO failed for many many reasons... the way money was made was one of them. And a very big factor.

Ok, dont get me wrong, i love the way EA-Land seems to be heading, i think the CC was a great idea and merging everyone into 1 big city was an excellent idea...i will continue to pay my subscription as i have done for a long time off and on, but i want to feel like my concerns are being herd....

There are going to be bugs, there are currently bugs and i can live with that, this is a work in progress and i think it will all be worth it in the end..

My problem is with the money situation...i can think of no good reason to suddenly cut payouts to 1/4 of what they where last week and no devs on here or on the blogg have answered my questions or concerns, they say the blogg is there to keep us upto date on whats going on with development but yet no mention of this drastic drop in payouts...i am sure that many of us feel ignored and EA like all other companies in the business of making money will know, thats not how you keep your customers happy...

They either need to let us know why they have done this or put the payouts back to how they where asap

  38. But this will not make the bots go away. They use software to play 24/7, lowering the payout don't mean anything to them. They can still make more than the person that actually is there with their sim.

Yes, there are SOME things to do without money, but not most. If I just wanted a chat room, there are plenty to go to that doesn't cost me any money.

I joined this game because it had chat while meeting personal goals, and money has a lot to do with that. The way things are it would take me at least 6 months to make enough to furnish a decent house, never mind building the house.

Yes, the economy ruined TSO, but thats because the devs let an exploit go on for weeks before addressing it. That is not the average players fault.

Money is definitely needed for this game, and the devs are just making it more aggravating and not worth the time to work for it. I hear newbies and older sims alike saying that they have had enough of devs playing the game they way they want and not listening to the players that are paying their salaries.

Because with every day that goes by, the way things actually are gets a little further away from their model of how they want things to be. Their solution has been to just keep increasing the size of sinks, and slashing payouts (I didn't say faucets because they sure aren’t going to do anything to slow down the ATM faucet) until something close to balance was achieved.

Realistically, they're quickly running out of room to do much more of either. Too many people are starting to complain.

[/ QUOTE ]Where have you been hanging out? I haven't heard any of this. Yes, I do hear a few complaints about single-object payout amounts, but nothing like how you describe. In fact, a lot of people really like the job tracks. Me, with my mid-skilled sim, I can put away around 500-600 per shift. Throw in a couple of shifts per day, and a few rounds of pizza on the side, and my sim is clearing about 1500 per day.

I'm not seeing where the problem is. Can you provide specific examples of necessary catalog items that are priced above everyone's reach?

One of the biggest problems is that the vast majority of TSO players are use to an environment of simoleans being essentially worthless, and being able to buy whatever they wanted. No longer the case obviously.

Katheryne, in money houses its all people are talking about...the first thing that is asked when someone enters the lot is "have they fixed the payout yet? "

Why should someone HAVE to get a job to be able to earn money in this game ?? we have always had various options on the way we want to play it , this includes skilling up in specific skills to earn money from single objects such as jams...if people dont want to go and get a sim job to be able to get by in the game then we pay enough for our subscription to not be forced into doing this to earn cash

Lowering the payouts to a stupidly low level is forcing people into playing the game in a way they dont want to

I don't want to have to have a job. I don't want to stand around a pizza table all day, either. And I hate making jams. I want people to come over to my house and hand me money. As a paying subscriber, I feel that is my right, and I feel my game play is being forced, making me do things I don't want to do in order to get paid.

Now you are using sarcasm because you know you cant justify what the EA devs are doing...

Did you used to be able to stand around doing nothing and wait for people to give you money last week or any other time in the game ??? , i dont think so.....was i able to earn my money from jamming last week and other previous times in the game ?? yes i was.....

I think the lowered payouts need to remain the same.

Fixing the economy was the original idea a year ago when Luc first visited Stratics.

Its not perfect now, but a work in progress. To allow things to go back to the way they were would be a definite failure. How do I know? The game failed before that way.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Sorry, I don't agree with what you are saying here, the reason the game economy got out of hand was because of greed, by people bringing real life into the game, selling simoleons and rare pets and mystic trees on ebay, for real life money. This was happening long before that cheat thing that happened (again, a real life scenerio brought into the game),(and by the way, I was not in on any of that, never got any simoleons from that cheat or bought anything from ebay because I don't believe in bringing real life into a game), and before all this started, your sim could make a reasonable salary by working or making money objects in a money house, so, in my opinion, as long as greedy people play this game, it's never, ever going to be the same as it was!!! This is supposed to be a fantasy world, where you can make the things happen that you want to happen, and escape the hum drum world of "real life", so why bring real life things into the game in the first place, unless, as I said, you are mighty greedy, and you must be that way in real life too! That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it!! [IMG]

If the Dev team is working on combatting the bots with low payouts, the only payout that is going to get rid of the bots is a $0 payout.

I have posted about this before, the Dev team has not been in the game for 5 years to see that the main reason to play this game has been to make money. That is not very hard to see, and it is even more obvious that taking that part of the game away is doing more harm then good. They also need to face the fact that the buying back of simoleons is going to have to be somewhere around 100,000 to 150,000 and maybe even as much as 1,000,000 for 1 U.S. dollar. There is no way the Dev team can take money out of the shareholders pockets to please us. That is a fact we might as well admit.

You know, people who have gotten simoleans soooooo easily have been spoiled, now the "enviormental aclamatative syndrome" is beginning to set in. treat the game as if a real stock market crashed like it did back in 1929. Imagine you losing all you had but the main pitance of monies to live on..... see if you can stretch a nickle to do the same as a dollar and a dollar to do the same as ten dollars or one hundred dollars.

Yes you might not like it, but if it hit you in the backside, and you JUST HAD TO IN ORDER TO SURVIVE then yes you will and won't complain about it either.

What am I saying, don't complain about what you have now versus what you had before. You and many others are now reaping the fruits of what cheaters have done in the past when a lot of people were saying "Let us play our game our way" and "this is not a communist game" well, I saw this way back in the day hence why I said what I did. I'm an old dude and yes with age comes wisdom. it might have looked like meddling in your affairs then, but now you are having "issues" about what you no longer can do in the game you have in front of you.

Best you can do is turn that [IMG] in to a [IMG] and enjoy your game!!!

p.s. don't waste your time and energy flamming me, I don't read posts after I write responses.....

People have been talking about this since Saturday and yet not a single dev has posted anything about it....the paying subscribers are debating this with no official input at all...

We dont know there reasons for doing it, if it is permanent or what.....are they ignoring us because they dont know how to explain why they have done what they have done ?? , and yes i know they are very busy with the move but they have time to post blogs about other matters so there is no excuse for ignoring us....

I would email EA customer support but the last time i did, they said they would get back to me in 24 hours....and then 4 days later i got a response from them and they didnt even answer the question i asked them....

  50. I agree. We will never be able to get rid of the bots completely. But, we can't keep the payout this low because of the cheating few.

I am so tired of people (devs) making me play their game, or wanting me to love this glorified chat room and deal with it. How about some communication from the devs on how close they are to finishing their "secret weapon" against bots. They only tell us very little about whats going on.

A big problem in the past was the lack of communication, and as I see it, it has not improved much.

Also, I would like to build a house to my liking, and the tiles I want are about $20 each. With each jam I make I can buy 2 tiles. Hmmmm, at that rate with decorating the walls, buying items for the guests in my house,,,,I will be jamming for 6 months. And how dare you tell me that I have to get a job to make money. Is that what this game is about, make money this way or else! And the pay there is worthless also.

All I want is a payout that is at least 20% of what is was to begin with. In typing the highest pay was approximately $650,,,is $130 too much to ask for?
I dont think so, and its a comparable rate that I think would make everyone happy.

If you don't like what I say, too bad,,,I don't like your evil smile as you tell me the devs are the greatest!
