large files in user area -- necessary?

Discussion in 'UO Resources' started by imperterritus, Aug 11, 2010.

  1. Today I was configuring a new desktop. While transferring the user data for the enhanced client, I noticed two very large files. Here is the directory:
    Code:
    C:\Users\Richard\Documents\EA Games\Ultima Online Stygian Abyss\User Data>list
Volume in drive C is WIN7
     Volume Serial Number is 4CB3-D8C3

     Directory of C:\Users\Richard\Documents\EA Games\Ultima Online Stygian Abyss\Us
    er Data

    2010-08-11 15:45 <DIR> .
    2010-08-11 15:45 <DIR> ..
    2010-08-11 15:45 <DIR> EA_ContextMenu
    2010-08-11 15:45 <DIR> rfranzen
    2010-08-11 15:45 <DIR> UO_ChatWindow
    2010-08-11 15:45 <DIR> uogames
    2010-06-27 15:44 52,428,800 multiDataAtlantic.uod
    2010-06-26 14:49 52,428,800 multiDataBaja.uod
    2010-08-08 17:19 4,690 UserSettings.xml
    2010-08-08 17:19 68 waypoints.xml
                   4 File(s) 104,862,358 bytes
                   6 Dir(s) 361,204,453,376 bytes free

Are the two ".uod" files necessary? I'm guessing the extension stands for "ultima online dump", but that's a guess. I don't remember the game crashing.

I have the same ones. I am guessing it is a cache for houses and such. Anyway, thats not very large, only 52mb per shard. Mine are around 51.

Aren't the uod files the layout for the desktops?

I'm not sure though, I haven't messed around with the SA client too much.

Yes, those are desktop config files. I have a program that watches for files changing, those are changed upon logout.
