Of the 100+ legendary weapons I have looted I have only found one or two I would *maybe* use for PvM.
Something needs done to help these compete with imbued weapons.
Maybe increase their potential max weight increased, or make it so they can have slayers more often? Something to give them a chance to be more than unraveling fodder.

Anyone else feel the same or am I missing something?

I have NEVER found a bow on loot that was worth using. 99.9% of them lack any SSI ..... they don't have any HCI as a general rule most of them only have silly regens on them... crap I don't need.

I look for a few things on a bow. SSI, DI, and Hit Mana Leech... What it has beyond that is a "bonus" I'd like them to have some sort of HLD, Hit (insert hit spell here), or something like that..... I do NOT need 6 SI or SR..... with 4 MR and silly mage stuff like that.... and another thing that's almost always on any bow I find.... -mage. Again even if I was a mage wanting to use it I'd surely want SSI and HCI. Since a bow no matter what tends to miss 6 in 10 times.

A VAST Majority of items dropped anymore have pretty much only mage properties. Most of the "melee" type properties are things that no real melee character would ever use in combinations that would NEVER work with a melee template.

Crafting weapons is about the only thing left for crafters to do. Why do we need to take that away?

Besides, some things should be rare.

I've never gotten a piece of armor worth using on a warrior in place of reforged, imbued then enhanced armor.

Brittle caster armor seems to be plentiful though.

I've had a few nice 10 stamina parts for my PvP archer but I agree there does seem to be more probability to get mage mods. Also 5 lrc?! What's that all about.

I tend to get nice high intensity nice parts but the mods will just be a horrible mix. I got some nice legendary leggings the other week with 10 stam and all the trimmings but they were plain leather :-(

They should also remove the EP from armour and a few other things like +durability and lower requirements.

Brittle caster armour is plentiful indeed.
Now finding a good studded or plate warrior piece is nigh impossible. I am yet to find one.

I burned 21 valorite hammers today making double axes.
9 of them had a single property over that property's cap.
    1 had 2 over.
    None were over 500 total...

...and compared with imbuing, I can imbue a better axe than any those hammers created. :(

I don't see what's wrong with crafting having a distinct edge in terms of weapons. Remember when GM-made weapons trumped most looted weapons under most conditions?

Sometimes we think this was a good thing that should be returned to, except when we don't.

I'd also suspect that this primarily is a product of the huge variety of properties that can be found on weapons. That means, sort of by law of averages, that randomness isn't your friend, whereas either being a crafter or working closely with one is your friend. There are worse things. Personally I find crafted armor more-useful as a general rule as well, because it can to a greater degree be customized to your own needs. Again: Why shouldn't it be the way?

It's not like you can't get awesome loot. It's just that if you go with crafting you can be more certain.

God this game is ridiculously item based now. In a complete U-Turn from what it was it is now arguably the most item based game of them all. Sad.

    I disagree

Items only support a few of the infinite possible play styles

You can have a wonderftime and experience even if you don't have all the prime items

    Community is where it's at

Nonsense. Its more item based than any game out there. Youre living in yesteryear if you think UO isnt item based. And this community you speak of is a red herring. There is some good community but also a poisonous element too.

I found a Vampire composite bow that I've considered using.

    Uhm No

I might be an Old Sage wandering the lands of Sosaria but I am very current.

UO is for sure not more item based than any other game out there. It's all about your play style.

If you are focused on having the best most organized suit and set up for your play. Sure you might be focused on owning the current items. There are a few other game styles that could be said to focus on items but there are dozens of play styles where you really do not need the latest and greatest to have a great time.

The game does not force you to have current items in order to participate. You can participate in pretty much every thing and be a value to your group with any level of items.

Items also do not dictate if you are going to have fun or not playing the game. With so many things to do the possibilities are endless.

I have been playing the Ultima series since the early 70's there is rarely a dull moment and with so much content I am always learning something new or encountering a new challenge. It's fun.

The community is a Red Herring? I think not. You get out of the community what you put into it. There are plenty of good players and guilds across all the shards. Sure there are a few village idiots (just like here on the boards) but that is all part of what makes a community.

Look I know your three accounts are currently shut down and that you are bitter about the game as you have stated in your posts before but lighten up a bit. With 15 years of experience you should have a lot of positives to put back into the discussions. Maybe even something constructive.

I would be much more interested in those perspectives.

You obviously still have an interest as you are engaged here and as you say pop back into the game every once in awhile.

Then endless slamming of the Devs, Broadsword, Stratics, and other players is getting pretty old quick. Most people just start ignoring your posts at that point.

I think you might actually have some pretty useful knowledge and insight which could help out if you could drop the bitterness and engage in a constructive manner.

I for one would be interested in hearing ideas

My thing is why did they nerf stuff in shame and other places like that you use to see all kinds of artifacts but now nothing unless you kill a champ, exdous, etc. plus the artifacts don't have as great mods you use to see. Just was like a lot hype about this new loot system. Makes a Mage life easier for suits but for dexers not so much. This isn't bashing on the devs it's constructive Criticism.

From what I can see, the weapon drops are useful only for PvP. Start trying to balance toward PvM, and you're going to upset the PvP crowd and those who sell to them.
Check out Trader's Hall, if you haven't already (but be prepared for some cold comments or being ignored totally if post something they perceive as mediocre :).
Some of the right combos there sell for quite a bit. I've seen some sell for a lot higher than this, but these are few examples I see today

Disclosure: I am not an expert on the PvP market, just a lowly thunter who hardly ever finds anything these guys would be interested in anyway, just making a point here.
