Why not give rewards to those vendors in luna who make the most revenue, and allow them to place one vendor atop the Britain bank!

Between 5 and 10 and if you were selling more

They could be related to different things
    1) armor
    2) weapons
    3) rares
    4) supplies

    Etc.

I know people like Luna but i wish we'd move back to Britain
Or i really like an invasion of Luna

I know some people wont like this idea, but lets hear why

    Just a thought

    Thank you

No thanks. I'd prefer seeing something like vendor stalls that any player can rent for a limited period and has to man with an actual character, not an NPC.

Perhaps something that looks like these tables, banners, and stage that were up for a while on Mizuho, in Nujelm? The tables and banners extended all the way up as you went west and down to the inn and bank as you went south, with more tables and banners in the walled area immediately north of the bank. I wanted to take a better screen shot in the enhanced client, but everything's been taken down now.

Ok also a good idea, but i'm trying to influence the moving to Britain so i was trying to think of something clever. I like the way that looks though!

    Thank you

Its not just about the vendors at Luna that makes people go there, its the moongate, the stables, all the NPCs right there. Then there is no guard zone just outside that people use for wacking golems. That is why.

Why does it matter where people hang out?

Well personally I find luna ugly, and can be laggy for some. So if you put vendors in Brit it just be the same.

So that in less than 4 months people will forget how they hated Luna and start hating Brit bank, and ask for (another) WBB Invasion so they can head back to Luna?
    Nostalgia is amusingly illogical.

Thats from Sakura Market? They just held another in Zento. Always great fun to see how they can trade without vendors. And you actually get to talk and bargain with the players instead of just buying it off a vendor.

As Smokin pointed out, I think a lot of people use Luna because the moongate, the stable, and the most frequently used NPC vendors are all close to the bank. Other than on the quietest of shards, I tend to avoid Luna, however. I usually use the Umbra moongate because it's close to the mage shop and stable and I do my banking all over the place, preferably some place that's usually deserted so I don't get the "blocked location" message when I want to go to the bank.

If you could convince the UO team to stop having invasions that affect Britain, erect a consistently placed and functional two-way moongate near the bank, and stuff a few of the most commonly used NPC vendors into a back room at the bank, you just might see people slowly change their ways and start hanging out in Britain again.

Seeing some of the "wealthiest" players in the game rewarded by handing them an opportunity to increase their wealth even more would be a sure way to make me avoid Britain and just might be enough to make me shut down my accounts for good. As far as I'm concerned, the UO team has already spent far too much time in the last few years on developing items and events to keep merchant players happy. They need to put some serious time into figuring out how to retain the interest of the people who have no interest in running vendors or enriching the majority of the people who run them.

No, I spotted that on Mizuho. I went there to take a zoomed out screenshot in the enhanced client this morning and all the structures were gone. All that was left was an NPC vet outside the inn.

Now why would you reward the Luna vendors? If you want to do this, then give them to people that have no Luna vendors.

I've been around a while. I miss seeing folks at WBB. Yet, I also like the convenience of Luna: tailor, smith, tinker, jeweler, mage, town crier, stable, moongate - all within a few tiles of each other. It's the convenience that drew me to Luna, not the invasions.

"Lets move everyone to the brit bank.. Heres how!!"

I'm not that fussed anymore, but why not do the same thing again that moved everyone the first time? If memory serves, it was annoying random Spawns of insanely hard creatures that the casual player can't deal with, making it impossible to sit safely AFK - even for 5 minutes - EVEN whilst standing within the Towns Guards.

My memory sucks, but it had those Angel dudes with the Big wings, among other things, that is a nightmare to solo and would randomly spawn across most the Britannia Cities.

I left my PC once while I was sitting "safely" at Moonglow, only for an hour or two, and discovered on my return I had been dead for ages. The WORST event idea ever, who the hell thought it up? I mean, to push players outside the safe havens of Britannia, the Cities, just marvellous. And that event, I swear, lasted for about 2-3 months, BRILLIANT! /Sarcasm

I'm content with Luna, for as long as no impossible spawns ever roll in at random intervals throughout the day to come trash the place.

Well i guess i thought the vendors were the main attraction of luna, and i only meant to reward the vendors that did the best, i assumed they would be the ones with the best prices because they would be selling out often.

I see the convenience of Luna but i see stables only a few screens away in Britain. The only shop not close is the blacksmiths. I guess i just like the Britain bank better and just wish i wasn't sitting there alone lol.

Well it was just a thought,
Thank you all for your input!

Didn't mean to poo-poo the idea. My guild is currently having a within-guild vendor contest for the best needfuls vendor. Vendor contest is a cool idea. :)

Are you saying that players whose Luna vendors make the most gold would get a Brit bank top vendor?

If so, I do not like this because some player vendors in Luna sell items obtained in suspect ways and make tons of gold. This would give them the Brit vendors. :(

Some shop owners do not care what is sold on their rented vendors. *thinks about those ugly red, white and yukky blue boxes* and they seem to be on almost all shards in Luna.

It does but unfortunately you have to recall to get to Brit or run from the moongate, it is not a fully linked one. It is handy though.

The only bank I miss is my Old Haven bank. It was the only bank I ever used. The banker there would buy almost anything. You could open the bank and the blacksmith vendor at the same time and pull ingots from the bank while selling the gear to the blacksmith.

I'd rather run around old Haven to the shops than use Brit. I moved my banking and shopping to Skara.

    I have a better idea............

Why not have vendors' markets in EACH and every town and assign those vendors ONLY to players who do NOT have vendors' houses at all ?
If a player or household has multiple accounts, and one or more of those have vendors' houses, then preference will be given to those accounts coming from households where no account had any vendor houses.......

Even better, these game placed vendors in town markets (limited number to assign to players NOT already having vendors) will ONLY be able to carry goods on a specialized basis depending on which town they are placed into....

    - Moonglow = Mages' stuff
    - Trinsic = Warriors stuff and armor (not leather)
    - Skara Brae = Tamers\ stuff

    And so on.....
Only Britain, being the capital, would be allowed a wider range of goods on these "market vendors" but not everything.....

    Why this ?

To bring life back into all towns or, at least, most of them.
If players will have to visit them for the type of wares needed, they will need to populated them accordingly.....

    just an idea......

I don't want to move to Britain.

I prefer Luna because it's walking distance from my little house which is inside the city walls. It would make no sense for me to trek all the way to Britain.

Britain holds nothing for me but memories of a once thriving community, memories I'd prefer to keep intact. Without people, it is just another empty bank and a dreadful reminder of what has been lost. Even if you forced every active person to bank there it would still compare poorly to its former glory.

    replied to last for convience.

It is really a matter of choice where people go. i have always been one of the steadfast Britain Bank people. i have no desire to plant myself in Luna.

i have brought this up before. If you look at the original moongate spot in Luna it is North of the walls. There are the stones surrounding the spot and everything.

Who made the choice? i dunno. Why? i dunno. Maybe to make testing Luna easier and they never moved it back? They inadvertantly created a magnet.

No having a vendor contest is not viable. Buying something from your own vendor a billion times so you are #1? easy. Most people own more than one account. Cahoots and all that.

The ability to recall gives people the ability to land where ever they wish. No matter what you put where, people are going to go where they want. Luna is the new "insert word here".

i suppose it's just a feeling of socialization you wish?

You wrong. The invasion in Brit was the finaly nail to the coffin it removed the last remaining players that were used to it from there. Before that less and less people were hanging out there. They finaly went to luna and liked it more and stood there.
Luna has being invaded a few times people have come back to it. Brit bank just doesn't have what luna offers. I'ts glory is over.

This is what occured when EverQuest relases the NEXUS expansion (whatever it was called).

I like the idea and of course have a few modifications.

EVERY CITY gets a market square.

    One vendor per account. Period.

Vendors can only be paid up to one month. Costs are based on items sold as is the present case.

In-search engine for all venders located at all cities. Let the price wars begin.

Vendors located outside the merchant squares would not be searchable.

    Discussion:

Some people would poo-poo this concept but is is extremely vaild and medieval in consideration. This way every town has a percentage of the market. When UBER-rich players put items I unravel on their single market dwelling vendor for 1,000,000 gold the average shopper can price compare.

That is really the common player issue, ignorance and/or access. If a player doesn't know a Widget of Poofing can be bought for 10 gold and they see a Widget of Poofing being sold in Luna-tic for 1,000,000 they get taken for a loss.

Let us assume Britian has the largest Vendor Market based on number of buildings in the town. THen the highest UBER gold players may erect their single per account vendor there. If people have multiple accounts they get one vendor per account so they get multiple vendors. That stated, they are paying for their accounts so it is only fair really.

But that written, what about Cove? Maybe the best prices are found in that little out of the main stream town? A guild may move in and decide to open up shop there. As the prices in all Vendor Merchant Squares would be searchable the actual WHERE you vendor is located is not as important as the cost of the itmes placed on the vendors.

Additionally, people that have remote houses could be economically viable.

let's face it, most people are not as stubborn as I. They will not travel the realms in search of vendor deals while enjoying the vast open spaces that make UO so engrossing.

    Average night for most players:

    Log in to home.
(Optional) Meet freinds/guild mates for a hunt.
    Recall/Gate/Travel to hunting area.
    Hunt
    Get loot.
Recall/Gate/Travel to Luna-tic and bank sit or log out.

Where is the adventure of discovery?

In summation. Make Vendor Merchant squares in each city. If that means one vendor location per account so be it. Spread the location around the world and off we go.

  40. WOW..

How about rewarding the little guy just starting out? Your idea of rewarding the alrdy rich with more opportunity to be come more classed and wealthy reminds me of something.....hrrmmmm....weird... Luna has most all shops close to your bank box. It's fast, easy, and simple.

Brit Bank is dead. It will always be dead unless Luna is gone.
    Wanna fix it...?
Remove NPC shops from Luna and add a moongate to access all gates at Brit bank. Easy fix. There's no reason to reward a FEW players to try and populate a dead bank.

Wasn't my intent to reward the overpriced ones, and to put it simply i was trying to reward the vendors that have fair prices that everyone benefits from. I mat not have presented this idea clearly.

I like Megilhur's Idea above much better than mine, as it involves more cities and less vendors in total.

If you think that these cities, like britain for example, are dead and useless why don't we eliminate them all together?

I think these areas should be utilized more, if you're not in favor of that that's completely fine.
