Lobster/Crab Movement Based?

    When fishing for Lobsters/Crabs do you have to move from place to place to continue catching them? (like with fish "The fish dont seem to be bitting here")

    Or can you stand in the same spot and catch lobsters/crabs endless?

    I personally haven't had any problems staying in the same spot so I am under the impression that you don't have to keep moving like you do when you fish with a pole.

    You can stay in one place, but you'll always be at the mercy of the RNG (which in my experience LOVES to give you everything EXCEPT the one you're trying to catch for the quest).

    Random Number Generator... the nasty behind the scenes system that decides if and when you catch something, what you catch, or if your trap sinks.

    Yes fishing itself you have to move around, crabbing, you don't.

    No what i mean is...in order to gain fishing skill do you have to move around?

    Cause when you crab fish you sometimes gain .1 skill, however if you dont move will you never gain?

    No you dont have to move. Its certainly not the fastest at gaining skill though.. This belongs in a different area of the forum id say.

    Correct, you never have to move and the tile never runs out of crab and or lobsters. Fish will run out but never the crab. As far as skill gain goes, the close to shore you are, the easier it is to gain at lower skill levels. Once yu are in deep water, you will need arund 65-70 skill to gain well. Those crystal balls for skill are great to tell where to train at lower levels in regards to ship placement in the water.

    The anti macro code which set up the possibilities for gaining in 8 x 8 resource grids was disabled long ago. Now you just do the dern thing over, and over, and over...

    Good, I remember having to run around and cast magic to gain, it was a pain in the rectum
