For the low low price of 4 million gold! Er...dollars
I'm surprised it's not goin for more to be honest, that's an awesome house, I took a virtual tour many years ago, and the property is just beautiful.
I just hope the new owners appriciate Richards sense of style
Is he moving into that new house he was building or is he short on money?
Taxes 58k a year
I hope they play UO!
Someone better buy it quick, otherwise it might decay, fall, then all his shizzle will be all over the ground!
Yep, if they don't like it they will surely be stuck as the original plans for the house have been lost so any further modifications will be impossible to make.
I remember reading about this place when he first built it. Man I wish I could buy it... and move it to Chicago, because I am NOT interested in moving to Texas!
Hee Haw Paladin!:gun:
So many parts of that house scream UO its unreal
Sounds like the new wife is ruling with an iron fist. The UO house has to go!
When will it go idoc? Is there good loot in the house?
Muck take a look at the pictures in the link if you didnt already. I would buy it if i had money
Totally.. very jealous, Stunning property..
Need to win the Euromillions and fast - i'll be making a long distance phone call like a shot
Actually I think he had two houses at one point, and was trying to get rid of the old one. I haven't looked to see which one this is, but I'm guessing it's the older one.
The newer one has an area for jousting competitions: Lysts on the Lake
If its the older one and he already got the other he has a week to get rid or it falls with all his stuff inside
Built in 1987, so it's the old one:
TravisCAD Detail - Prop_ID 142333
The new one is where he built the jousting area, but I didn't know he finished it - it had been on hold when he was doing the space stuff. The new one looks a lot more like a castle.
Woodsman..I don't know whether to be impressed or REALLY creeped out that you have that much detailed information about his house
Still very cool, and interesting that it was appraised at only $637,000.00.
Woodsman is the fountain of all knowledge when it comes to UO dev's
Richard is getting married if not already married. It might be that his lady might not wish to live in texas. And yes if i had that kind of cash Id buy the place in a heart beat. It's always been a great looking home, and all the secret places he put in .... its my kind of castle!
How about we get 40 people together and each chip in 100k and use it like a timeshare? We each get 1 week a year and we rent out the other 12 to pay the taxes?
I've got 100k to chip in. Who's with me?
Would be fun to spend a week a year in the house. Can't really move to Tx at the moment...
Ya it's nice but nothing works right and the furniture doesn't fit properly. =)
Funny, I lost my virginity in that neighborhood back in the 80's. There were no houses at the time, just a street with empty lots.
heh, no, we've been looking at buying a house and are very familiar with the TravisCAD.org website, way too familiar. It's very shocking how much houses list for and what they are appraised at, although I think $637,000 has to be just for the house itself and not the four acres, because with four acres, I'm surprised a developer doesn't buy it and tear the house down and turn it into four or more lots. That happens a lot in Austin.
Next May, those of you who are able, should come to Garriott's new house/castle to see the jousting tournament. It's pretty badass, a lot of people don't realize there is a professional circuit of people who joust.
I'm pretty sure I found it in the '90s in that same neighborhood, but I was drunk at the time.
- Aye, I have to refer to appraisal sites daily myself (am not in real estate). I have a feeling the lots next to the main address are likely a part of what's being sold (it adds up to ~ 4 acres and a bit more than ~$650K.. searched with 'Garriott').
Woodsman, thx for the joust link; hadn't heard that one. Good stuff.
I remember talking to Mr G about some of the amenities he has in his new-er pad.. very nice. This old shanty ain't too shabby either; not at all.
I didn't notice that about the adjoining lots - Garriott deserves some praise for that, a lot of people would sell them off individually and make more money.
That house is a stucco nightmare.
Both Houses could be Grandfathered )
Hmm, housing wasn't like that when he left I don't think... so I don't think those rules apply to his house, I think the old rules apply...
So as long as he still visits it, it'll stay refreshed and not fall!
Im sure you shouldnt go around admitting that
Not entirely you should admit to being the one who found it either
This could be very true I forgot about those really old houses
Ah but if he does a house transfer then does it stay under the old rules?
*bumps for the week end*
Appliances/Equipment: Built-In Oven, Cook Top, Dishwasher, Disposal, Double Oven, Downdraft, Microwave Oven, Refrigerator Sub-Zero Type, Self Cleaning Oven, Updated A/C Unit (> 12 Seer)
Of course Lord British's air conditioner is Seer!
(yes yes yes, I'm aware that it stands for seasonal energy efficiency ratio)
- Aye, and I laughed at the inefficiency when I read that.. I see solar panels, yet only >12 SEER? -Sheesh.
Ah well, why upgrade when it doesn't add to resale value for squat and merely lessens kilowatts used and cash spent; it doesn't save enough money to upgrade your SEER unless you intend to be there for more than a few years afterwards (~hrm, a UO parallel? -not sure..).
Can I get a free tour without a background check if I express interest? I am certainly intersted.
need to have more info before I can evaluate buying:
comes with any artifacts? what's the PK population? any Gypsy tent spawn?
and can I mark recall rune in the backyard?
They implemented a new ruleset so he had to move.
