Lotions/Balms/Felucca PvP Balance

    This is overkill. There's way too many non-skill items in PvP right now as it is.

    Apparently you haven't noticed but PvP is close to being broken right now. How is throwing more wrenches into the situation going to make it better?

    Oh, Faction Bandies are overpowered? We'll fix that in a few months. In the mean time here's EVEN MORE items!!!!! AND YOU CAN INSURE THEM!!!!!

    Makes no sense at all. Of course this is Electronic Arts so that's shouldn't be surprising to me.

    If you really insist on doing this, do not make them insurable in Felucca. This should be a no-brainer and I will be posting about it daily. No insured consumables in Felucca. NO WAY.

    And while you're at it get rid of instanced corpses and Peerless in Felucca. It just doesn't belong. Fix it.

    pots aids and all consumables are equal. There are no class/skill limits to them. It would be rediculas to think that makes things less balanced!

    Besides have you looked at the cool downs errr 6 hours!

    these 2 will prolong fights and save people from kill shots which are pretty hard to get these days on some templates. that's why i used the word balance. the 10 minutes is meaningless especially for the 25-40 heal because people will only use them in a situation where previously they would have been dead. it's a free heal pot.

    also, will these be affected by Alchemy skill and Alchemy bonus?

    i have a question about this: can you walk around with the option to res up or do you have to either res right where you died or cancel it and get res'ed traditionally. this is good for solo pvp'ers/small groups who've really been given a hard time lately. I like this one.

    this amounts to a +10 stat increase and you can pick which stat gets it. (you just have to pay for the insurance of carrying a few around, big deal) i don't know about the rest of you but i would rather they made +35 stat scrolls (or just +30) than do this. these 3 should be canceled.

    i'll let someone else comment on the ramifications of these.

    Okay, so for the balms you'd rather them have a permanent +10 increase to stats instead of a temporary one? That makes no sense to me...

    And as for the Seed of Life... 25-40hp isn't really that much. Hell, a weapon with a hit spell etc. can deal with that easily...

    Let's face it. drinkbeerallday is just looking to further his track record of posts demanding nerfs without thinking through the issue.

    PvP is more balanced than it has been in the past. The devs are doing a VERY good job of trying to keep it a level playing field, IMO. Faction bandages are a bit much, and the apple timer is a little low, but perhaps that'll change once they re-evaluate weapon specials.

    The HP and mana potions are fine. 25-40 HP is pretty much what you get out of a greater heal pot while using EP. The mana you can potentially regenerate quickly. I see it to be used by dexers who want to go all out for chaining specials, and the 10 min timer is reasonable.

    Gem of salvation is fine. I assume it will work just like a self-rez, but on the spot where you died.

    Your idea of +30 or +35 stats is not ideal. We have 255 stat points as it is, not counting what can be stacked onto it with strength and agility pots. We don't need to have more stats. The +10 temporary bonus is nice, especially for those who do not want to carry around tons of strength or agility pots.

    As for the protection balms and lotions, they're handy bonuses for PvM and makes it slightly easier to deal with the harder champion spawns.

    Now, where are you getting the overkill? Next time, please actually provide a reason instead of coming out with a shriek and a whine.

    It's perfectly fine, silence about it. with the 10minute cooldown will not unbalance anything. not to mention the rarity of even getting the darn items.

    explain your post. i read the document and i concluded that the items will be relatively common. script-able, even.

    not sure what you mean by "silence about it" are you telling me to shut up? i am not one of your kids.

    the heal is a free g-heal pot. basically something that will keep people alive when previously they wouldn't be alive. i explained this above.

    i just don't think either are necessary. just more crap we will have to carry. that stealing needed some new content was the only reason these items were created, not any other reason.

    you both mis-understood my point about the +10 stat balms/lotions. they are effectively a +35 stat scroll. people will just carry them in their pack and use another every time it runs out. that was my point. i didn't say i thought there should be +35 stat scrolls. i said that if they are going to give +10 stat that first of all it should be +5 and second it should be a stat scroll because people will start doing harrowers again.

    i'm not sure why you think people would stop using Str and Agility potions? please explain that to me.

    these 2 sentences are real productive. mods? this is a clear troll.

    ok so basically people will just write a script to steal from lizardmen or whatever and cast EV's and 1 in 10 will have a rare item.

    who cares about the 5 percent bonus for high level monsters?

    the chance to get one from a low level monster should be like 1 in 100. it should be pretty much pointless to do.

    More balanced maybe, when compared to mages having 4/6 casting/bushido archers hitting for 100+ hps in one hit/lumberjacks hitting for 90+ hps pre AOS and pub 16 runic faction weps(<<---that one is a maybe)......otherwise,thats about it. And none of those have lasted as long as concussion spamming xbow archers have.

    I see about 70%(about 3 out of every 4 people I see in fel) archers with balanced xbows in fel as the prime template.

    Then 25% necro-mages(about 1 in 4), because thats about the only viable mage template.

    Then 5% mixed other templates.(rarely)

    I cant wait for concussion blow to get nerfed, its been a long time in waiting.

    I think it's a bit of a slight to make these new potions stealable from monsters, but not from other players (insurance). It rewards NPC thieves while denying PvP thieves.

    I see no reason for that, other than to simply allow everyone to carry them with impunity. Offhand I can't think of another consumable that can be insured, other than maybe arcane clothing?

    Other than the obvious, I don't have any keen insight to the implications of their use.

    I am waiting for the item you put in your pack and when you click it it takes you HP and turns it into MANA....

    But yah I do got to agree with whoever started this thread ahhhhhhh yes there is 100% no doubt that UO PvP is utterly unbalanced.

    Ok when greater dragons came out I said oo man WTF I just got blown away at half life from four screens away well screw that I went out and made my own PvP tamer archer chugger.

    And yah I promise that temp vs any ANY dexxer is toast utter toast lets call him toast as long as he is in the four screen area.

    I get on and everyday people say Vyal thats lame dude your so lame go back to tram dude I hate you you suck your lame even in their death you can still see the OOoooOOOs pretty much saying your soooo lame.

    So of course I went out and made three tamer archers lol one in Minax one red and one blue.

    Yah it's great and all that you can steal retarted items from monsters now for the simple fact that well it gives theives something to shoot for. But ahhhhhhhhhh...... Adding items like how these guys have been doing is like pouring gas on a fire.

    My one archer simply can not be killed by anyone with the new bandages ahhh apple bandage apple bandage apple bandage I can just stand there and live with no weapon vs two fencers and a mage necro is completly useless with these items at 120 resist and 120 healing over 120 dex.

    but!

    If you make a human train spellweaving up to 50 with these items you can kill a vet pvper ive done it lol bola pixie apple pot chug chug bandie. Sooooo.....

    Thieves needed a bone to be thrown to them in the first place.
    Your logic about the heal seed, I can't really seem to follow, it is like a g-heal pot you say.. so whats the problem with it? Because it will keep people alive? I get the feeling your pretty horrible at PvP. They are usable by everybody not just the people you fight... you can use them too, that right there is a balance choose to use them or not.
    Your logic about the stat lotions doesn't make any sense you don't want them but then you say something about a +30 or +35 stat scroll... So your against the lotions, but for a permanent stat boost? WOW
    Do us all a favor and think before you come here posting mindless nerf posts and save us all a bit of time having to reply to these rediculous threads.

    it's not a nerf post. it isn't even in the game yet. it is a "consider the ramifications" post.

    so they just arbitrarily added "stuff" for them to sell? whatever. that's very weak reasoning.

    it's just unnecessary. i explained it several times. maybe re-read my posts? i dunno what to tell you.

    the lotions ARE a permanent stat boost, they are INSURABLE. everyone will just write a script to chug their pot of choice every 30 minutes. actually the only people it won't be permanent for are people like me who do not cheat at PvP by using a medic script.

    i'm not sure why you are so enraged over this. regardless this sentence is trolling. mods?

    I think PVP has been broken for years. The devs are hoping that the faction stuff will help PVP (and I honestly wish them luck), but the fundamental problem is not being addressed. Items destroyed PVP and only the removal of such items will bring it back.

    the thing is, as it is right now (pre 57), everyone in factions has a fully pimped out suit so pretty much everyone is equal.

    the problem is every time i go out to PvP I have to carry a whole arsenal of crap. give or take 13 items (that I could think of)

    what's next? i assume they will do some sort of PvP/PvM patch after the new year which will increase the caps for the properties. then we will go back to the haves and the have nots again. people who have the replicas and high end imbued items to max out their suits and the people who don't.

    one Dev team took steps to reduce item imbalance, another comes in and screws it all up again. it's an endless cycle.

    simple explanation of Pub57/SA: get ready to grind or pull out the CC to buy gold. (which will be going up in price)
