If one was to run parry + a mage weap, do they still parry just as well as if they had say, wrestling?

  2. If you're asking if 120 Mage Weapon & 120 Parry, will Parry the same as 120 Wrestling & 120 Parry, then yes, they will.

The difference will likely be being Disarmable & having a free hand for potions.

Can I just use the weap and parry, and no shield?

  4. Not without Bushido.

I think what he meant in the question was, is his defense chance the same using a mage weap with magery as it is using a weapon with a weapon skill, and was confusing things with the word parry since chance of defense and parrying are two separate things.

Yes using a mage weap with magery is the same defense as having a weapon skill

    No. What I mean is:

    At 80 dex, 100 parry, 100 anat, 120 eval, and a shield.

    And at

80 dex, 100 parry, 120 mage, and mage weap.

Is my chance to parry the same? Assuming both scenarios put me at 45DCI.

Ok, disclude the parrying into the equation, cos no matter what your weap skill, you'll always have 30% chance to actually parry a shot, what you're asking is about chance defend with a weap yeah?

Well in theory yes you have the same chance to defend with a mage weap as you do with wrestling (anat in your case) however tests have shown that for some reason there is actually more chance of you to defend with wrestling (anat) than with a weapon.

You can test this out yourself if you have 0 wrestling, 0 weap skill and attack 10 hinds, then arm a weap, you will find you will get hit a lot more. (i'm not sure why) anyone else have any clues....

JoAT Anat+Eval and Wrestling stack somehow?

  9. No. With no shield you don't Parry at all, unless you have Bushido, which allows you to Parry with weapons.

In the first instance you would have 120 'wep skill' + 100 Parry + 45 DCI and in the second you would (effectively) have only 120 'wep skill' + 45 DCI.

Yes you do, Bushido just increases your one handed parry rate. Parrying doesn't require a weapon skill. Weapon skill = defense chance , Parry = parry rate for either shield or weapon, weapon is significantly lower without Bushido. Bottom line? You still parry without a shield as long as you have a weapon.

  11. I didn't say Parry requires a weapon skill I said it requires a shield (or Bushido) to be equal or better.

Without a shield you do not Parry at the same rate.

He asked is his chance to Parry the same in both examples and it isn't.

Edit: nm, I see what you're disagreeing with. You're right, I worded it wrong, you do Parry with a weapon, just not the same as with a shield which is what he asked.
