doesn't 120 weapon skill make you harder to hit, if weapon is equiped? Is this true as well if you have no weapon skill, but magery with a -0 mage weapon?

    correct.

So if you have 120 fencing, it makes you harder to hit than if you had no melee/dodge ability. Wielding a -0 mage weapon allows you to hit others as well as dodge with however high your magery is. So if you have 120 magery and a -0 mage weapon, you can hit others and dodge their blows as if you had 120 melee.

    Let me break it down.

Weapon skill dictates how often you are hit along with how often you hit people (Excluding HCI, DCI) This is a reflection of real life, I think of fencers. a novice fencer vs a expert fencer would not only be hit more but also would hit the expert fencer less.

mage weapon property uses your magery as a weapon skill, so with a -o or a -20 with magery jewesl on, you essential have 120 weapon skill, you cannot use weapon specials but as far as generic hitting and being hit is concerned, you have 120 weapon skill.

It a basic situation this can be very powerful, essentially the mage has his 6 normal skills AND the bonus mage weapon skill without actually having to waste points in having the 120 weapon skill for defence.

As well, having anatomy and evaluating intelligence gives you defense against melee attacks (no offense tho...)

    ( anatomy + evaluating int + 20 ) / 2 = defense chance

So to have 120 of one and 100 of the other... you don't need a weapon or weapon skill because you have the equivalent of having 120.0 defensive skill...

It has it's uses... here and there, specifically saving on skill points you'd want to use else where, but meh

This is true, previous to the faction arties, many of us ran wrestling. Well wrestling is slow as hell and no mage runs HCI so it was pretty impossible to use the wrestling special moves. Enter 100 anatomy. With 100 anatomy and 120 eval, you have 120 wrestling when it comes to defence. This is only "half" a weapon skill as it ONLY effects how often you are hit.

Essentially you lose the ability to para punch and disarm for 20 extra skill points.

would the defensive ability of anatomy plus evaluate intelligence be higher than 120 magery, with -0 mage weapon? Higher than wrestling? Or all the same?

    All the same.

    For defensive dodge:

    120 wrestle
    =
    120 mage + -0 mage weapon
    =
    120 melee
    =
220 combined or greater Eval int + anatomy
