Hello, I made a come back yesterday (I played 1997-2000) and a bit of Siege Perilous last year.

I'm a bit confused. What are the good way to make money now (solo)?
    Crafting is still good?
    Fishing still useful?

    Thanks in advance for answer

I make good money growing Green Thorns & Orange Petals. They sell at 1000 gp each.

Currently I have someone buying 160 Thorns a day which is triple my origonal production and they could well want more.

The thorn plants are low maintenence and if grown in backpacks involve little mousing and don't get sick if you miss a days tending since they only do a growth check if the character carrying them gets logged in. 160 thorns a day are 20 plants harvested each day. 340 total once you have planted 20 plants each of the 17 day growing period.

You would need an Alchemist to make potions with and need to be willing to tend any plants locked down at a house every day. The locked down ones will get sick if not tended each day.

I will supply you with the seeds to start with if you want to try gardening. My house is at the south end of the bridge south out of Luna if you want to check out my setup. There's a mailbox you can drop a book in or PM me here. Teleporter going up is to the right of the hearth.

    Welcome back :)

i'm assuming you don't have any chars worked up at the moment.

work your main miner/smith guy up first. the other characters start with 1 mining so you can obtain bulk order deeds (reg iron), minimum once per day and max probably 3 x if you log in morning noon and nite.

if your a crafter i would work on getting your smith skills up. filling fort powder bods is very profitable now as they sell for 300,000 gold per bottle on a vendor.

working up a simple warrior/swords miner char you can mine in the new lands for ore, gems and crystalline blackrock. all sell really well. 10 crystalline blackrock sell for around 2.5 million gold.

i would probably do this before working up an imbuer as that skill is really expensive to raise.

pm me on this forum and i'll try to get with you in game.

i have many +5 mining gloves and pickaxes/shovels i can provide you. I'd also make you a suit that will allow you to take a punch, so you don't get wrecked by the first ogre you come across.

    Thanks for the answers.

I think I'll pass for the gardening for the moment :)

I forgot to mention that I still have my old chars.

    I have a:
    GM mage 95+ inscription
    Alchemist with ~85 alchemy/poisoning
Treasure hunter (most skills < 70)
    GM fisher
    GM macefighter/tactics/anatomy/healing

    Treasure hunting still viable?

Where can I go to farm with my mage?

well with the mage you probably want to get your mage and eval upto gm level. if you arm yourself with a -29 sc mage weapon you can gain pretty quickly to gm. i would definately reccomend this.

for farming a good place is ogrelords, second level in despise. equipped with an ogre slayer spellbook these drop pretty quick. there slow moving as well so easily avoided. nice gold drops, decent spawn rate.

t maps. i'm not sure how good these are, though you could get a lot of loot to unravel if you plan on working imbuing at some point.

that macer template seems nice. get someone (i can) to imbue u a nice diamond mace with swing speed, mana and life leetch and a hit spell and you can farm well with that character. read titans, cyclopian warriors ogrelords etc...

check out the warrior forum for turning that character into a sampire which is one of the most effective pvm templates in the game.

<laugh> It's not everyones cup of tea, but 4.8 million gold a month for an hour a day time investment isn't shabby. :)

I play Crafters & Foragers so if you need things made that don't require exotic resources I can make them for you easily enough.

Ogrelords is a definitely good hunting spot. Just stay fast on your feet, you can find yourself very popular down there. :)

Make me your student. I'll sit at your feet, lol.

I understand the basics: bowl, dirt, pots. Any tips of the trade you can share?

Talisac. If you fish you can sometimes get delicate scales now. I will be glad to buy them. Get in touch later this week or whenever you can. Leave a note on my bulletin board. It's the white 2 story house SW of the West Luna gate a few spots along the shore. Stay out of the woods though, or the Crystal Elementals might kill you. The house sign says 'Place of Rest'. I can also help get you back in the swing. A lot of people on Chesapeake are helpful. I've met dozens who returned in the past 6 months, and the ones I still find seem to be doing well.

Tanivar. Do you produce red leaves as well? I could use a few hundred. I will not return to the realm for several days, but please do let me know.

Isn't really much to it. The worst part is having to go through the hassle every so many months of building the regeant vendors up to 999 stock and gathering a whole lot of Nightshade & Garlic and some Ginseng & Mandrake for potions to tend the plants. Otherwise it's just doing the planting, tending, harvesting, and making potions. I've a UOA macro that makes 50 potions a run. The alchemist crafting window will do multiple potions as well with a little more work & hassle.

A resource plant takes 17 days to grow all 8 resources & seeds (most make seeds) it will grow. After that, I just unlock them if grown at the house or set the backpack, if grown on a character, on the floor and after about 3 hours the game janitor makes them go away for you.

My current crop routine are three characters with four packs across the top of their backpack, each containing three rows of 6 cactus with two positioned vertically below each pack. Each pack with the two cactus below it are started a day for 12 days, then I have another 100 at the house in groups of 20 (2 wide by 10 long groups). For the 340 total. As I tend them, spaced out over the day, I put a Greater Poison Keg, and a Greater Cure keg in the middle of a characters backpack and then put in a bag with 15 water pitchers & a dozen Greater Strength and Greater Heal potions for any sick plants. I move the bag of water from plant set to plant set as a marker to which one I'm tending. I do the two singles below a pack then open the pack and do those 18. You have to move the mouse very little doing it this way which is great if your hands are grumpy from artheritis. :) The ones at the house require your character to move among them. I position Valana three plants down a row and can do the 10 plants within her reach (two spaces away from her), then move to three from the other end and do that 10. You will want a water trough within sight to refill the water bag.

The only real work to it on a daily basis is having to harvest the 20 plants (160 clicks & 20 clicks to gather seeds to replant with) and then planting 20 replacements after the unlocked empty plants go away.

The backpack plants do a growth check when you log that character in & if its been 23 hours since the last growth, they grow another stage. The ones locked down at a house grow every morning during the maintainence period. After a growth stage happens, they must be tended!

It sounds like more work than it actually is. :)

Excellent. Thank you for the tutorial!

Don't forget too that when you grow plants and harvest the seeds you have a chance to get a "seed of renewal" which is an imbuing ingredient. Sell them on a vendor in bunches of 10. I believe they are about 1-2 mil per 10 now.

As for fishing, white pearls are still in high demand so you could spend some time harvesting those as well.

You could also develop a symbiotic relationship with a crafter and farm ingredients/plant seeds/etc in return for goods and payment. I never have enough time to get everything I need to do done, so I'm sure there are many of us out there who'd be willing to help you out in that regard.

Lightning, I have red leaves on my vendor at the VIP mall in Luna. I'm continually growing them because someone keeps buying me out (lol).

I've got 946 in stock right now. I used to grow them until sales pretty much stopped last year. I can part with a few hundred easily enough. I sell them for 500 each.

Are you looking for a supplier?

Nastia Cross. Thank you I will check it when i get my system back in a few days.
Tanivar. Same. A few hundred will be fine for now.
My system is being repaired so I need a few days before I can visit.

Oh. And any white pearls. Yes. We can always use them, but wow they are expensive.
So many properties to imbue require 10 of them !!! I can see that weapons and armor are going to be a LOT more expensive now for the cost of the ingredients. I'd be glad to trade a few hundred green thorns for anything of use to me. And if anyone used necro regs in your work, wow. I gathered tons from the Ter Mur tomb hunting.

Anyway. See you soon as I can.

BTW, plants at 7/8 production or otherwise one day shy of when your going to harvest them don't need to be tended. They do get sick but it very rarely results in the last growth stage not happening. It will not change the description if your going to make them Deco plants and saves a few potions.
