Making PvM better

    I'm not talking about better AI or harder spawns what I was thinking of is a lot more simple.
    First make the Imbuing essence spawns in the abbyss drop the essences stright to your backpack, lets face it its a hassel opening each and every corpse you kill to look for it, that is one of the reasons I personally don't farm it more then I do although its pretty easy and profitable. some people would say its a balance issue that insures that some essences are lost and they arn't over farmed. well the drop rate could be lowered a bit so the collecting rate of those essences stay more or less the same the result would be more people will start doing the abyss spawns and more player interaction buying and selling those things.

    A diffrent idea which I actually like better then the first one would be to live up Felluca PvM and therefore live up Felluca PvP in return keep the abyss spawns the way they are but make some of the less popular Felluca dungoens and hunting areas drop the essences for Imbuing stright in to your back pack, that would make it easier to collect them but adds the risk factor, just like Felluca gives double the resources (wood/iron) but makes you risk it all if you get killed by a PK. It will get Felluca more people in it other then the Chammpion spawns that are less and less fought after because power scrolls are common nowadays.

    Another thing I had in mind is make luck affect the loot you get in tresure chests, that way if you use a good luck suit you could actually get useful level 6 chest loot with 6 mods and by that give items you get of loot a fighting chance against the Imbued items and that will open up a complitly new market and live up PvM. Another thing that could be done is in the same way Felluca compered to Trammel Perlesses loot is better you could make Felluca tresure maps drop more loot then the Trammel rule set ones (not sure if tresure maps already work that way or not).

    PKers in Fel not finding enough easy targets to gank?

    Go to Fel with a luck suit you paid good gold for, do all the work killing the chest spawn, get ganked by a PKer, and lose the chest loot, and your luck suit to the PKer.

    You risk your time, effort, and gear to reward the PKer with easy loot. The good ol' Risk vs Reward the PKer's spout about. :thumbdown:

    First of all why would one lose his luck suit? I think theres a thing called insurance active since 2000 in all shards but Siege.
    Second thats just it you risk losing the items but you get a better chance of getting them, thats what Felluca should be all about when it comes to PvM.
    If some one dosn't feel the reward is worth the risk hes more then welcome to stay in Trammel and have slightly less of a chance of getting those high end rewards.

    to your points:

    1) Essentially, you want a work-over of the loot tables, and I think everyone agrees. Less loot, only stuff that sort of matters. I personally like the idea of stuff appearing in your backpack, but there is something about having to actually click on what you killed that makes UO, well, UO. Only arties spawn in your backpack and that is sort of lame actually... But if only the loot you are interested in is in the corpse, it should be an improvement.

    2) I like the Fel gives more idea, but the issue is that so many trammies have become so weary of even a little bit of PvP that it would be sort of unfair. basically, I can stand at a spawn with a couple of guys and chop through spawn after spawn, and keep all the trammie folks at bay. This way, I will farm buckets full of essences and make a killing of selling it. However, in the end, i will take away a lot of the balance in the essence market and take away a lot of the enjoyment of gathering essence for the trammies. I am not a trammie, and yet I can sort of see that happening. Even if I would argue that they can kill me and there is risk vs reward, a lot of people that craft and do their thing just don't want to or can't get over that hurdle and will just feel cheated.

    3) Luck has to be fixed. Period. I agree. Currently, the fel chests already give something worth a lot of money that no other chest gives and that is pink scrolls. Currently, people are paying well for fel t-maps and they buy them from miasma farmers. The risk of getting PK'd doing maps is close to zero. I think this is sort of a combination of 1 and 2. Loot table has to be reworked (no need for 80 crappy items) and luck fixed, but you can't unbalance the loot too much, for it would be sort of unfair for those with a fear of felucca.

    One thing i think might help his that with luck fixed and loot tables updated, it might become worth while to do level 1-5 t-maps. you could give a luck bonus to those that hunt in fel, so that there is not a per chest benefit, but perhaps a slightly higher chance of hitting that usable 6-properties ring while hunting in fel.

    Yes, because it is likely that the random spot in the wilderness where your treasure is located IS probably already being camped by pks...

    I do understand what you're saying about clicking the corpse being a part of uo, that feeling you get before you open a perless corpse hoping to see a crimson or a rare hair color and such, but I can't say I get that feeling when I open a hell cat corpse and hope to see an essence when theres 20 more small annoying cat corpses around me that I need to pick one by one when I need to keep an eye on my bar not to die and move some times to avoide death, and then re-open all those corpses all over again because they closed when I moved and I lost count on which one I was checking.

    I can also understand what you are saying about Felluca having an adventage over Trammel when it comes to farming, but when did that actually stoped it from working like that.
    You can actually see it in a lot of aspect of Felluca vs Trammel:
    *Resources spawn double amounts for the same click of the mouse in Felluca then in Trammel, been like that for years no one been crying about that.
    *IDoCing in Trammel you just show up and pick up whatever you can, in Felluca you need to protect it or take over it some times, no one been crying about that either.
    *Silver only spawns in Felluca but you can use faction items in Trammel rule set, no one been crying about that.
    *Power scrolls only spawn in Felluca, people including Trammies been farming them for year so much so that their prices now are about half what they been a few years back, power scrolls I think are actually the only thing that kept Felluca PvM and PvP alive but nowadays its fading away because scroll prices hit rock bottem.
    So Felluca dose hold an advantage over Trammel even now but not in enough aspects to make it intersting enough so it will have a big or even decent player base.

    What I tried to do by this post is give ideas of how you can give Felluca a bit of love and make it have a decent player base and actually make it a bit easier farming essences then clicking 20 odd corpses.

    I lol'd. I do almost all of my PvMing in fel on every shard I play and no one is ever around to even try and gank me. I'd suspect that the chances of a random red strolling upon you at some random island are as remote as Pam Anderson getting the all clear from the local STD clinic. Luck is broken anyways, it never has and might just never work.



    Forgot to add a thought to the OP. Having stuff drop directly in your pack is just asking for more AFK macroing. A person could run some type of looting set up to get the items already but this is just asking for more of the hidden tamers that use to plauge us before.

    The idea that some PK is going to get all giddy over a chest loot makes me lol, I lol again.

    I'll just add that if I ran across you and saw your luck suit was not insured I'd PK you in two seconds flat.

    Probably I really doubt anybody going to be hunting for trolls and orcs and spiders. There is only a couple of places to go to get anything remotely even usuable.

    Luck is borken but I do get way way better items using a luck suit doing Melisande in Felluca then not using luck so its not complitly broken.


    I must say that I didn't think about the AFK hiding macro aspect of it but... In Felluca it just wont work, well it will but not as good as it would in Trammel.
    You can see it when you find the AFK EV casters/Tamer with a greater dragon at the silver serpents or the AFK Sampier in the deamons spawns farming silver, yes some of them do get away with a few ks of silver but some just get killed by the factioners/reds who check the popular spots same as people check champion spawns for a good raid.

    If any thing those changes will get some more intrest in Felluca and might even make it more fun PvM and PvP wise.

    I think it would be hard to code the drops to happen in fel whilst not happening in tram and this is where the AFKing would be the big issue. Even then you could go into hythloth, or many other places, and farm silver/gold/resources all day long if you wished to do so and I bet you would never be killed.

    You are right about that, but the only reason its possible is because Felluca nowadays is pretty much dead and empty but if there is a good reason for some one to PvM in Felluca you could be sure that PKs will follow same as champion spawns, silver spawn location and even the anti virtue drops when they just started spawning has proven.
     
  14. I think all special loot drops should go straight in pack.

    For years they've added items that increase a players output while leaving the monsters the same. I think everything in legacy dungeons should have at least 5x the HP and gold.

    I don't care about how to get essences but wanting them to drop in your pack at fel spawns is just being lazy. You want to be able to farm essence by doing what you do already every day. I can log into any shard and burn through the first 1 or 2 levels of a spawn and get all the essence I want under that system and if someone comes I can kill them or run. Easy street. That's not risk. That is getting something for nothing.


    Take the money you get from scrolls and buy the essences the trammies collect. That system is working just fine. Or do you want to open up the stupid line of garbage that leads down the road of scrolls in tram?

    Making special drops, such as Lucky Coins/Imbuing materials, drop in pack saves the irritation of stacked corpses and the delay opening them causes. Increasing monster HP and loot would bring them in line with the tripple damage slayers and skills we've had for years. The highest normal monsters have 2-4k gold, they aren't even worth opening the corpse for that, it doesn't even cover insurance.
