Merchants Prepare for Mag Rebuilding

Discussion in 'UHall' started by RavenWinterHawk, Feb 1, 2010.

  1. Okay. I made a lot of gold with the halloween mask by being a merchant.

I want to share some ideas for the rebuilding of Mag coming soon to theaters near us.

    1. Most likely supplies will be needed. Buying up or collecting resources now to resell is a good idea.
    - Ingots buy at 12 gold or less. Worse case you resell them.
    - Wood buy at 4 gold or less. Worse case sell for 2 gold each and take lumps.

I think there will be a direct turn in for commodity deeds and points given but you might need them to make items. A quest type thing for 50 beds etc etc.

    2. Old rubble. I found a bunch on atlantic yesterday for 79k a piece. I did not buy it. I think turning that in will be part of it. I don't think they will discriminate on the items of rubble. Just points.

    3. Gold. I think a gold sink via donation for points or prizes. Go get some gold.

    4. What fun is rebuilding if monster aren't around. I suspect something will happen. After all maybe you need items off monster for rebuilding. Sell new stuff fast.

    5. Blackrock. It sits at 5k now. Worth buying up some. You never know they may need to blow up some things.

These are just some idea for speculative mechanting. Don't yell at me if you go broke.

    Its just a game.

Sadly rubble was devalued so much because of the new rubble from the thread quest. The black rock you have it right sits at 5k lol it never moves I can barely get rid of it at 500 gold at my outside venders. I guess we will see what awaits rebuilding. I personaly wont invest till I know something going on. The way these dev being lately they probably have magincia rebuilding using nightshade and the reward a super powerful artifact that you get for turning in 100 nightshade lol.

I know it is not the case, but i was just looking at some of the spam e-mails I have received, and the thought of this made me laugh.

Raven has a lot of item X taking up space, and due to zero demand, just can't move it. Raven sends out posts with vendor forcasts, and those people that follow, reap great rewards.
One week, the forcast notes that item X will be very very usefull in the very near future. Raven places items X's on seversal vendors at high prices.
The gullible masses fall for it and buy all of the worthless items, and Raven makes a killing. :)

It is like the old faxes which I would read for a good laugh from Mr. X to John Smith about some great stock tip they were passing on to buy stock Z. But shhhhhhhh don't tell anyone. This is a secret. But oops, they must have sent the fax to the wrong number.....
    Those were great!!!!

Anyway, please, nobody read into this that I think Raven is scamming. I 100% do not believe this to be the case. Raven's advise seems very well thought out.

Back to this post, the rubble turn in is possible, although I do not knbow how many people would part with rubble, as I think a lot of it is used for deco. I do think that the blue crystals from the holloween quest will be a turn in, or used in some manner. I think it would be cool if there was a turn in like the spring cleaning turn in. Artifact, Stealables, and all the junk we have been collecting for the past two years could be turned in for points, as well as there being something to kill and quests to do to rebuild Magincia.

Oh, and lets rename it Dragoville. :)

Again, thanks for the post Raven. I think I will go mining to get me some more blackrock just in case.

I sincerely hope that whatever the developers are planning to come out with for the rebuilding of magincia it will never be disclosed on the test server or whatever, before the publish comes to production shards.

I hate it when some players get a head start over all the rest of players.

Players should all be on an equal basis and no player should get any head start.

At least, that's how I see it.

keep in mind that the TC shard is open to everyone ....So if anyone wants to they can go look themselves! the second thing is i am in favor of test any major changes on TC first! This is to keep bugs and loop holes to a minimum !

I do not expect rubble to be part of whatever goes on.

Why not? Because I suspect, strongly, they will be making a new place that will not-much resemble the Magincia we knew.

    http://ultima.wikia.com/wiki/New_Magincia

Draconi once said something at a Town Hall, something like "maybe we'll see a new place, a place more grounded in the Virtues." From his tone and from the context, it wasn't speculation, but something that was being planned.

Even if Draconi wasn't one of the many on the fired list, this could still not pan out. And now pretty much all bets are off. So who knows.

It may not even be a turn-in at all...Though I can't think of what else it would be.

What I would hope for is a turn-in that's based around old items and new items. For example, monsters spawn that have items that will help the gargoyles lift whatever demonic curse lies on Magincia now. These items could spawn on new monsters, or on monsters on the current map but that aren't fought as often. Maybe ToT or Virtue Artifact style, in the Britannian dungeons. Or maybe certain dungeons could be converted to a dungeon-wide champ spawn type system temporarily, with the new turn-in items spawning on the boss. I would also like to see craftable turn-in items. Masons maybe can now craft "a piece of a church foundation," which will eventually be used to build a Church of the Virtues in New Magincia. I'd also like to see a turn-in where the items change every couple of weeks or every month, as different parts of what's coming are completed. "Ok we built that Church, now we need an open air bazaar to tribute the city's merchant past, in humbler fashion.

Sorry for the rambling paragraph there. In brief I would like to see a mylti-layered turn-in that incorporates many playstyles.

I make no claim of knowing what were actually going to end up with but in the single player game was not the `new-magnincia` more similar to yew in that it was more just a few huts rather than a city?

Sadly Raven's advise isn't always the best. Raven ALWAYS touts that you should get event items and then immediately sell them for profit. This is in every generic vendor post Raven makes which by the way are always the same generic no brainer ideas so i'm not sure why they are constantly reposted. The fact is this does work sometimes but about half if not more than half the time this will backfire and end up making you lose countless mils. Take the Halloween costumes had you sold the low end costumes immediately during the halloween event you would have lost big time where as selling the rare ones while the event was in full steam would probably net you a very nice profit it really depends on what the item is and its percieved rarity. How about the crystals from the same event selling them during the event could make you a decent profit if you sold blues to people looking for conjurer's robes but they may be even more valuable in the near future and selling the reds would have bit you in the backside. Another example the Planeswords if you had sold them right when they came out you'd be lucky to get 5k per now you can get 2-3 mil per sword yet the planeshields still aren't worth much and may possibly have produced a slightly better return upon instant selling. Another great example of holding onto items would be Dread Warhorses that while they were spawning were worth a decent amount maybe 3-5mil but now about a year later are upwards of 30-40mil each.

The bottom line is use some common sense. Selling every new item as soon as it comes out is NOT always the best move. Sometimes holding onto stuff can backfire for sure but generally speaking holding onto something you think will have future value and having it sky rocket pays off in HUGE dividens much more so than selling instantly for that quick mediocre profit Raven so loves to tout as being the "best" way to go. Just remember when you follow ravens advise to sell all those new flashy event items for a quick cheap profit on your vendor Raven or someone else with Ravens mindset may very well be buying those items up to save and make the "real" profit 6 months to a year later....

  9. OH if forgot one.

    Marble.

Stone would be something I would suspect as a resource to. After all it was sandstone and marble right?

To the above above post. Here is a good scam to watch for.

Guy at bank spamming buying X at a ridiculous price.
Drop runes to a place that has X.

  10. Why not do both? Hold and sell some. Lets see Jackolanterns. 100k to 200k first now worth 5k. Hmmm black cats 300k now 5k. Scarecrow tapestry 500k 25k. Hmmm 12 anniversary pink bags 2 million now 250k. 12 anniversary tickets 400k now 75k. What else? Snow angels, Nutcrakers, and icicles. Ill give you the dreadhorse that is in a league all its self cause you need to tame it and store it.

Plane swords and shields. GEEZ they were so common people left them on corpses. What else the RUBBLE thread stuff. 1 million for them to start and now 100k. Lucky coins 150k now 500k. Soles of providence argh.

All the cursed arties from the invasion of MAG 500k now 100k.

You missed one part in all my posts.
SELL SELL SELL SELL first and then BUY back.

See there. Sell the dang costumes and crystals first. Remember the costumes would go for 500k to a million. After a few weeks. you could buy them as low as 100k. Buy them back.

Who would pay 2 million for a planes sword now. I have 50 if you want them.
Oh planes swords. Let see get them when the first came out and sell them 50k to 100k a sword as time went on 10k a sword. NOW buy them back at 10k and hold on to a few.

And as always tuck a little away. Remeber you could pull 25 planes swords a day. Easy.

Now I made my money buying back after words and selling early. You can make gold easily is my point.

I will give you that the costumes and red crystals went up down and up again. Not often a Dev changes their mind.

But you have no control over that. What else has done that really.

Merchanting is 2 parts. Sell when hot. Buy when cool. And speculate on the future.

    Lets see how it goes.
    Fun.

And they are reposted cause I have no brain I cant remember I posted them and they are for the new players.

    What ideas do you have?

So not holding my breath for this event..

Years delayed, only talked about vaguely in typical noncommital Dev Speak (tm).

Honestly, they need to hold off on New Magincia till SA is actually done and the EC isn't a bug ridden embarrasment.

    I know, I ask a lot.

  14. I might being doing that.

It only a game. If you need gold for other stuff. Rather then kill stuff. Sell stuff. It supplements.

Now if you have millions laying around. Buy some wood and iron commodities. You might get lucky.

I am leary of hording supplies for this event if it doesn't show up for another 6 months or so. If I knew it was going to be really soon not maybe this year, I might think otherwise.

During the crystal collection event @ Halloween time, didn't the dev team say something about the BLUE crystals being used for Magincia?

    Just wondering.....

They turned it off last patch but it was the killing of those 3 type of ghost in magincia after aquiring enough threads you turned it in to the guy that was by the magincia moongate. he would give you rubble for them. The threads were used as wellto modify cloaks of corruption as well.

Testing can also be done in house without opening it up to the general players' population.

What I am concerned with, is some players hoarding whatever resources will be needed to rebuild Magincia leaving out other players, not knowing the information, at a disadvantage.

This is why I'd much more prefer if the publish was released without any player knowing, before release, whatever resources would be needed.

  24. You can't horde wood and ingots. The trees and mountains are there for all to chop and mine to their heart's content. Quitcha bitchen and do something instead of excpecting the game to do it all for you.

  25. Just to refocus.

The world of the merchant is offering wares to the public.

Follow my suggestions or not. Im just offering information to players.

There is always gold to be made during events and during holidays. What you do it up to you.

Sell the new stuff fast, buy it back later, hold some, sell some and tuck some away.

    The simplified formula.

I say we rebuild the entire island as an exclusive real estate development for Billionaires only. It should also serve as a tax haven from the dreaded Billionaire Tax.

Lowly millionaires would run around the beaches in elven thongs as cabana boys/girls, serving fruity drinks with wee umbrellas in them. They should also pleasure the residents by any means necessary should it be demanded of them.

After work they would go home to the mainland and tell tales of the paradise beyond the waves, and inspire others to achieve greatness rather than waste their lives on foolish notions such as humility.

Yeah, the beta testers for SA went around and bought up all sorts of imbuing ingredients before the rest knew it was coming. Then when it did, they sold what they didn't use themselves at high prices.
Then they tell the rest of us to be happy with countless hours of harvesting or buying off them at those high prices. Go figure.

There was a guy named Marx that thought that way, too.

And he had a buddy named Lenin.

They loved the idea that everyone should be equal...that no one should have an advantage over the other.

Communal Living. Share it all....they said.

Oh wait...that idea was a massive Fail, all the way around.

Sorry...I guess that idea has already been tried.

Learn from history, Popps. Your idea of a perfectly even world leaves out any chance for high achievement. After all...why would your method reward any achievement? If that happened, then you would not all be even. And if you don't award something for those willing to pay the price, you devalue and nullify any price paying.

You hopefully can see the quandary here, Popps?

You don't get something for nothing. Ever.

So...you want the rewards I enjoy for having my vendors and the work that entails? Then go do it yourself. You want the Power Scrolls? Figure out a way to get them yourself.

Don't wait to be "Liberated" by some Communistic "No One Any Better Than Another" view, and you could go far. Key word there is "Could".

Hold onto the idea that no one should have anything better than another, and everyone should be "Even", and you limit yourself to mediocre achievement at best, and the requisite blaming "Of the system" for your plight.

It's a bit of a lame ruse, IMO.

At least, that's how I see it.

Funny, had that conversation with my carpool this morning. They don't understand how people will spend "real money" on virtual realities - even just subscription rates. What started the convo was someone talking about some other virtual reality where people make money hand-over-fist and is sanctioned by corporations. The question was how can people spend so much money in virtuality when they are going bankrupt in reality!

The psychology behind virtual spending is linked to how we are irl.. and therein was a serious conversation.

sheesh.. the things we discuss on our commute to work!!!

From your logic path American Football is fundamentally Communist.

I didn't want to start another thread on this subject. However, as I was searching for yet another place to stash the books from turning in stuff to Axem, I wondered if perhaps we'll be able to donate them for the rebuilding of Magincia....
