MiBs and Treasure Chests upgrades - Part 6532

    So devs, how about making MiBs and Treasure Chests a little more useful. Currently they require quite a lot of effort (compared to many other things in the game, including farming arties some places) and give absolutely horrid rewards for the most part. I mean at best you could get lucky to get a marty through a level 6 map.

    I would suggest adding some artifact loot to them (somewhat rare) and up the content (more gems, higher intensity items, more gold), perhaps add imbuing ingredients and relic fragments as MiB loot sometimes.

    Also perhaps add a few new artifacts that only can be gained through MiBs or Treasure Chest.

    I agree with you, that the loot needs to be bumped, but please no relics or even SoTs. These seem to be the one-for-all reward when the devs feel unispired. Also, not more gold. There's enough gold in circulation and not enough gold sinks.

    Just raise the intensity of the random loot to the level of peerless loot. That would be fine. The time needed and danger involved for a lvl 6 map is roughly equal to doing one of the easier peerless.

    I'd like to see some imbuing ingredients, such as stacks of 100 or more gems for the higher level maps, and some special ingredients, such as special gems, the special ingredients or essence and relic frags. But for the higher level chests they need to be in useful amounts, not one or two. I'm thinking maybe in the range of five to fifteen for the highest level maps, or two to five relic frags. Enough to make the treasure maps worth the effort.

    And double the rewards for doing the maps in Fel while your at it. :)

    how about the new SA artis anything is better than martis!

    easy to code temp fix till NEW unique tresure hunter/fisher artis are created!

    When I say double the rewards for Fel perhaps as has been suggested the intensities of items overall could be increased for all of the t-maps, and the imbuing ingredients and gems added, along with marties for some of the lower level maps, and true arties for the highest level, then the actual number of items lowered for Trammel maps, and raised for Fel maps. So that overall the numbers of items aren't raised, but there is a greater reward for doing maps in Fel.

    The devs mentioned they were looking into this aspect of the game about a month or so ago.

    Nothing specific of course...

    Just a nice bump would make me want to do the work to dig up the ones I have......as it is forget about asking others to go with you.....it gets boring to quickly and the loot isn't worth it for more than 2 people to bother with.....

    Fishing is one of the few relaxing and fun things in UO...please don't make it more tedious, just make it more rewarding to do MiBs....I loved doing SOS' on the seas with my wife and planning out the routes, sorting loot, finding the correct spots...But now the rewards are just too crappy to do them.

    It would be nice to have a chance at something good thats for sure. Maybe a random chance at a highend artie, but get rid of all the junk in them. I would rather get just one item instead of 50 things I toss out.

    I still like the idea someone came up with like literally 10 years ago, that there would be like 15 different thematic chests, each with different loot, dependent on the chest theme. Like the lost wizards chest would have regs (including rares like ginseng plants) and wands etc, while the "artisans chest" would have vases, paintings, gold ingots ets...

    Each chest would have a different list of loot some of it common some of it rare. It would be a fun.

    ^^ Now that sounds fun! Thematic chests sound great.

    MiB and Map chests definately need to br rethought.. Personally, I'd remove the reagents - who honestly uses though outside of alchemy anymore? rolleyes: Just modernize the loot and make sure its potentially useable, not going to litter the seas or outdoors with useless trash items. Higher quality, lower quantity.

    relics shouldnt be available that easy.

    its not a big deal with a stealth treasure hunter to open the chest pic the marty or whatever and leave without fighting anything.

    but maybe there could be a quest which gives you a relic when you solved 5 or 10 level 6 maps

    and for the lower level maps one could go on.... 20 lvl 5 gives a relic and so on

    and i agree with puting in 1 or 2 imbuing special regents and maybe more smaller gems instead of magic regants.

    Once again Cal I'm making an effort to be "patient" as you suggested...

    Though I too would VERY much like the loot in both to be updated...

    And Uvtha's suggestion is AWESOME...

    You could have one for Elves, Gargoyles, as well as humans too.

    Themed loot would be awesome...

    And Themed MIB's...

    Like here is a shipwreck from minoc..... would have various ingots, armors, and such and maybe a very "special" item...

    Stuff from Yew would include perhaps some special wine, of course baked goods, and certainly elven items...

    Moonglow would have things that were "magical" in nature.... maybe even a "rare" spellbook of some sort.

    I think you get the picture.

    You could even do a Tokuno themed MIB or two...

    What might be really neat would be "thieves" loot... in treasure chests in Illshenar... as we all know those spawn completely empty...

    Wouldn't it be neat if on occasion a thief would get a "special" map that lead to pilfered loot. (If there were a way to code it I'd say pilfered loot would be loot that monsters steal from players that isn't recovered, but I'm betting that's a coding nightmare).... Anyway I think having loot that was just a very few items that said "pilfered loot"... or something.... on it that would come from a map that had to be "stolen" from places in Illshenar or somewhere....

    I like this, great idea...then make some chest themes rarer than others and also let them have different colors.

    Also let the chests be named, so you'd have "Admirals Chest" "Wizards Chest", etc. And as such they could be collectable so if you wanted your wizards tower to only have Wizards chests, then you'd have that, or a sea themed house. If they were feeling really creative they could also make the chests different in shape as well.
