Like the game of chess but feel it may be to simple? Maybe you find chess boring and think it needs more explosions, body parts, and maybe even some nudity?! Then you are in luck! Minoc, Trinsic, an an anonymous benefactor are proud to present a Live Chess event which will have all of of these awesome things!

Meet up at 4pm at the Minoc bank and we will be gating everyone to a secret location were our awesome chess masters have been working hard to bring you the entertainment you need. Don't think you will just be watching, because that is boring, you need to come out and play the game! So everyone is invited, red blue green and orange, to come out and play with us. Be the Plucky Pawn, the Knoble Knight, or the Roguish Rook. You may even get picked to be the King or Queen!

    Details:
When and Where: Minoc bank Felucca at 4pm Eastern. Then a secret chessboard location. (Gates from Luna to Minoc Fel will be provided)
Who: Everybody! Willingness to get your hands bloody and willing to kill or be killed a bonus but not required.
    How:
OK there are two parts to this. Chess and Combat resolution.
    Chess:
Almost all normal chess rules apply. We will split up into two teams with team captains playing the King. Pieces on the playing field will be played by anyone who comes! Any slots not filled will be played by items to represent missing players. You have 60 seconds to make a move.
    Combat:
Here is where the explosions and dead people come in. When a valid chess move results in a captured piece it doesn't always resolve in the attacker's favor. For the sake of time, all combat involving pawns will be resolved by normal Chess rules and Kings are subject to standard check and mates.
For ever other fight we will hop over to the Arena, set up a 5 minute duel between the two pieces. The one left standing or if the fight times out (attacker's favor) will win the square! This means an attacking queen risks losing to a defending rook.
Fights are limited to 5 minutes.
The King may stand in for a piece as a "champion" or select a "champion" from their own team. You may not champion twice in a row.
All fights will be in the Arena so there will be no looting, no insurance, just good old in your face death matches.
Tamer fights are possible but within reason and both Kings will need to agree to that fight's rules. For example just pet vs pet or Tamer vs Tamer.
The biggest rule? Play nice. We are here to have fun and introduce PVP to Trammies, but l33t PvPeRz are welcome to come out as well to teach us blues how you rock and roll!

You know what? I'm cool with that. I'm not asking you to come grief it as I'd like to have a good time, but hey it is Felucca. People will do as they please and someone may get a little buttmad over it but I won't.

Yea I'm not into griefing fel events..I realize the more they are griefed the less they are attended..but I do have a question. What if enough people don't show up to use all the chess pieces

yeah, of course griefed...hopefully not though. it is a great idea and i will even try to unseat my little sabbatical to be there and support.

also, i would have rules such as pots/summons/bandies/poison/conflags etc set up in advance. i'm not sure what would make everything the "most even".... pots tend to advantage the dexxer, but mages get more survivability. mages w/ summons are hard to beat (rock monsters = death unless you have a hit dispell weapon), geez, i dunno, i'm kinda just thinking and typing at the same time.

anyways, 4/6 chiv would be a pretty good idea for this cause he's so hard to kill. i dunno... lots to think about i guess

If we don't have all the pieces filled up I'm bringing bagballs. I'd be very impressed to get a full 32 people out doing this! Hell, I'd be impressed with 16 people showing up! But if its just the three of us? We will just have to eat cake and tell other people what they missed later.

Great event! Tons of fun and dieing was to be had and thanks to everyone who came out. We had some P@!N people show up and then bug out when they realized we were a bunch of trammies, but maybe next time they will stick around.

We had two teams, Red VS Blue. Knyght was the Blue King and Badger was the Red King. I'm sitting in Badger's throne here:

Now those of you Chess players out there may have noticed... But the Red Queen (leather armor) could just take the Blue Queen right? Well yes, but this is LIVE CHESS! Squares can be won or lost not on the chessboard but on the Arena floor! In our final battle, Phoenix the Blue Queen stood up against Clover the Red Queen's attack and was able to declare checkmate for the Red team after that battle. I really thought Clover was going to win but a lucky heal by Phoenix won the match for her.

I am completely sorry I didn't get any videos of these fights. I was set up to do it and forgot as I was having way to much fun.

However, I did get a good picture of our corpses after our FFA fight, which we did after the chess match. The Legendary Bank Sitter Meadhbh was able to down an entire 8 people before the round was over:

(I told you we would have nudity!)

My wife shot me in the back that fight and killed me first.....

Forgot to mention he won the FFA with a Greater Dragon! I only had to move three pieces to win. Phoenix is a beast at PVP. LOL
