You are very biased when it comes to stating your opinion and locking posts for being unbiased all for all type people.

    D. Trolling is prohibited.
Trolling is whenever someone is clearly, deliberately posting in a manner for the purpose of angering and/or insulting the other participants of the board. Trolling DOES NOT encourage further discussion in the long run, it only encourages personal attacks (if left unchecked).

should have posted that at the beginning.

Does that count insulting one of the only level headed and civil people posting in a thread and then locking so as no reply can be made to the aforementioned insult? Or does the Stratics badge cover that?

UM Corpin I think Kelmo is trying to get across to you.Seriously don't ya think its time to get off the its the trammie train that its their fault Fel is the way it is, and put the play on the players who did this to fel in the first place. Maybe instead of posting and crying how a trammy ruined your play experience. Why not come up with lodgical ways to Fix it. Now I don't care how you or how anyone plays this game as long as no ones using an illegal program. I play the game the way I want to play it, and I seriously don't give a rats azz what you or others think. I play in every faucet even fel. I don't pvp, or pk but I do enjoy playing in fel. I don't label, sterio type, or blame anyone players for the way UO is.

Here's the thing, and some serious talk now; for a lot of PvPers, it's not enough for them to try and win in game, they also have to engage in what I've heard many loosely call "Board PvP"... they make appeals to the rules there, not out of any sense of fairness, but because they want to manipulate those rules in order to further humiliate or destroy an opponent outside of the game. For some, and where board behaviour is directly linked to account status, even that isn't enough and the aim is not just to try and claim a position of presumed strength in the short term, but to get the opposing players banned from boards or game or ideally both.

Now to anyone but a literal sociopath, this is obviously a completely terrible position to take for the health of any gaming community; because it destroys the very world you claim to be fighting for... even those who love PvP will be wary of engaging in it in case they run into someone who doesn't know where to draw the line and ruins the wider experience too. And those who don't enjoy it dare not speak up either, because of the same atmosphere of fear, and very quickly become sick to the soul that they can't, that their wider creativity is poisoned by such individuals, and slowly they drift away from the game too... The game slowly dies, but what does it matter, as long as the individual "wins" their "Board PvP" eh?

The misconception people have about the Moderators here then is simply this; that they are not here to tolerate this going so far over the line, they are here to prevent "Board PvP" as a matter of wider community health, not engage in it as opponents you can prove you're better than. Indeed, apart from perhaps EvE Online, there's no MMO that allows it to go that far on their boards even to the players, but even there, the Moderator's word still remains law above the petty squabbling. I suspect that an awful lot of the furious claimants of unfairness actually know this, but are hoping all the same to "Rules Lawyer" their way into causing conflict they somehow think they will gain from all the same.

And most people are aware of this type of person now. The mods here aren't going to fall for it, that's your misunderstanding.

It is true however that there's a bias somewhat for the Mods towards Trammel posters, but it's not pro-Trammel the facet as such at all; but pro-those who happily live and let live. That doesn't mean that those who do are personally angels either; Let me use myself as an example, there's an occasional poster here that I remember from the 2003 UO.com boards as being a ("he doesn't look good in that muddy hat"- Ed), which isn't a nice thing to think at all; he may have widened his perspective since then of course, and it's not as if he's made more than a few posts since then! None of them directed at me. I doubt he even remembers me. He's still a ("I own such a passive cat" - Ed) to me though. The point is however, I also don't make page after page after page trying to get him completely banned, so I'm not, apart from a cheeky post here and there, any real problem for the mods, to him, or anything that isn't in the interests of the game we all play. And in general, this sort of person will have moved to Trammel where they can live without conflict, as I indeed did.

Where as there's more people trying to bend the letter of the law around someone else's neck in Felucca, and they'll drag both Felucca and the boards into areas they were never meant to go to do it... and the Mods are going to stop you doing that, and are unlikely to be supportive of your kind of posting, because even when they play that facet, they want Felucca to survive too.

The bias here is for the socially constructive against the infantile anti-social, that's all.

I agree but not just you but all mods lock threads based on opinions or even the ugh not this again threads...but for the most part on what I do read mostly all the mods are unbiased in opinions they state and keep to a 90% professional level..just sometimes are a bit lock happy for no other reason then just tired of reading it it seems

Sorry Kelmo, but I fail to see what Corpin having 17 posts has to do with anything, I would (and feel it is necessary) like to find out exactly what you mean by that. Kelmo PM me please if you would like to clear that up for me.

The only thing I could gather from that basically is: The number of posts decides weather or not your post is "worthy".

This goes for ANYONE with a low number of posts, me being a PvPer I know not many pvpers post on stratics, does that have Anything to do with it?
Most PvPers probably would have a low number of posts.

Sometimes we complain and pull the blankets over our eyes when people offer possible solutions!

Truly we should be facing the facts; if they added commercial doughnut shops at hot spot moongates in fel, (including star room) I'm sure there'll be a lot more interaction amongst people; a possible option for economic change (1 doughnut each morning or evening at 7 g.p. per year = 7*365 = 2555 g.p. per person per year meow and that's if they only buy 1 doughnut a day! Give the star room doughnut shop special doughnuts or perhaps even cinnamon rolls which give buffs that last for an hour and have a cool down of uhm, 3 hours or something and in order to buy stuff from there you have to have dealt a significant enough portion of damage to the champion to get looting rights) The buffs shouldn't all be pvp related; and the doughnuts should have a timer on them or be account bound so as to prevent hording of them or shoddy marketing (the muffin man works his butt of to provide quality tasty treats in a hell hole and deserves better than that). Anyhow before we all lol to hard at me; please continue as I scrape out the last vestiges of your human minds and poop in some more silliness. As I was saying - THE BUFFS SHOULD NOT ALL BE PVP RELATED- and they should be lucrative to all facets of gameplay. Here are some suggestions:

Strawberry coconut jelly filled doughnut from space (change name, but trust me it's a cool idea!!): Whilst under the effects of the Strawberry coconut jelly filled doughnut from space; one is able to fish up certain fish he or she could not fish up prior to eating the doughnut! Additionally his or her charibdis bait NO LONGER SUCKS. You can fish him up at 100% success rate for you and your friends to enjoy this semi- newish encounter (However rare it has been that it's been fought and killed).

Creme horns of the Abyss: (Hehe) +10 DCI + 5 HLD + 5 HCI 5hp regen. The effects of these tasty creme horns from hell are obviously stilted to melee/archer/thrower types and could see use in both PVP and PVE. This buff should allow current caps to be exceeded perhaps even if the full % is applied over the current cap.

Danishes of Depravity: A tasty offering for aspiring and experienced magi alike! These delicious treats bestow temporary bonuses to mages and mystics alike. +10% LMC, +5% Casting Focus, +5Mana Regen.

Cinnamon Rolls of DOOM: Lastly, and not leastly (if that's even a word, no matter! I'm makin it up now) the powerful Cinnamon Rolls of DOOM increase your chances of getting slayer properties on crafted goodies. From spell books to weapons. Not a guaranteed 100% chance; far from it, perhaps even 5% chance. Whilst imbuing and runic reforging are great for singling in on a specific property eating these cinnamon rolls you aren't so focused on imbuing or runic reforging. When you craft an item either with a runic hammer or standard crafting utensil that 10% chance to get a slayer is an addition to mods put on naturally via the crafting process. Perhaps we can speculate on whether or not the fabled double slayer weapons of yore will make a return to britannia? *Gasp*

Well enough for my sillyness. I believe none of this will be taken seriously; just like most of our requests are not either in general. But this suggestion is sure to get maybe 5-10 extra people per server to take the plunge into dungeons deep and dark to purchase these tasty treats and subject themselves to more fel time for a shot at 100% charibdis bait or hey even 100% white fishing net success when going for Osiredon the Scalis enforcer (I've yet to get my soulforge from him as a drop despite much kicking of his anus and berries) or getting an extra 5% chance at a hot mod on like a scrappers compendium (of which there is no way to runically make any inscription item I might add hint hint, nudge nudge). And to those who say it's not time for commercial doughnut shops to enter britannia.. *Grabs pitch fork* BURN!!!

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Some after thoughts and perhaps some more tweaking to the insanity!
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

These should be fel only and have a short duration timer; a moderate length (I think an hour to crunch out with some tasty enhancements is pretty good) and a rather hefty cool down (I think 3 hours is pretty good so as to prevent constant abuse). The reason they should be fel only is fairly obvious in my mind; not only will the current denizens of fel be hoping to get a taste of one of these delicious treats; there will be others from Trammel hoping to sink their teeth into them too. To really stir it up, make the doughnut shop vaults able to be robbed so thieves have another somewhat weird thing to engage in.. Robbing ye local doughnuttery? Wait, did I just see somebody run to up to buy some doughnuts fresh from a champion spawn!? Omai!!

So there ya go.. a somewhat spicey suggestion that seems silly at first glance; but who can deny Strawberry coconut jelly filled doughnuts from space when so many will try to buy some.. Hm?

CovenantX, myself and others have been involved in multiple threads discussing ways to improve the Fel experience with no problems at all with mods. We're all pvpers and have offered no "board pvp", only ways to make our gaming experience better. In every game there's always going to be a younger generation that's a little loud and a little obnoxious especially in pvp. Do not judge us all by the actions of a few.

I am a pvper. I am a pvmer. I am a crafter. Most importantly, I am a paying customer that wants an equal gaming experience in a style i love which happens to be strictly in Fel.

Kelmo mentioned he loves Siege. Most players mention they love tram. Well there's still some players like myself that love Fel. We're not asking for any exclusive content, just equality to do the same things.

If your going to have cinnamon rolls, doughnuts, and strawberry jelly in Felucca then it needs to be available in Trammel too.

I don't want to be forced to pay millions and millions for strawberry jelly because it's under the control of a select few.:pancakes:

What people fail to realize is that because of the "evil nasty mean ole' reds" UO has lasted this long. Because a group of 4-5 organized reds could run over a group of 9-10 random blues it forced blues to form guilds, alliances, friendship, and OMG COMMUNITIES, and those guilds/alliances have lasted since the start of UO. I guess you can say reds made the players auctually pay attention to the MASS in MMORPG.

I keep seeing posts about "How would you build the UO Community" well guess what YOU CAN'T because Tram, soulstones, and 7 character slots has killed the UO Community. Players can have a crafter to make and repair anything and everything, they can have their mage or thrower for EM events, they can have their sampire for soloing %98 of the game, and the list goes on and on.

The reason you hear Kelmo and everyother SP player bragging about how great their community has always been is because on SP you HAVE to put the Mass in MMORPG since you can only have one character.

After reading that, I have to ask if you play Siege? Soulstones seem to sell better there than any other shard. Many players are very independent (me included). Even though there is only one character slot - many there have multiple accounts and enough soulstones that they can do anything a production-shard player can. Honestly - I play Atlantic with a group... I play Siege solo (just me and 58 soulstones).

The community on Siege isn't great because players only have one character - but because with a smaller player-base, most everyone knows everyone else and they actually talk in general chat rather than smack-talk.

That's why I suggested an* extremely short timer on the doughnuts; (to avoid the shoddy business practices people tend to stick to in UO)

Not even going to bother posting here, other than to say, i kind of agree with Corpin. Some people are just too biased when it comes to some topics.... *cough*pvp*cough*siege*cough* gosh my allergies are flarin up.

When talking about pvp, not everything is related to siege... 99% of all pvp does not take place on siege. Siege is a ghost town, i have a char there.

Not directing this towards any moderator in particular, but moderators should only be using their tools if absolutely necessary. There's hardly any reason at all for threads to be locked provided they're on topic. It's not up to a moderator to decide when a topic has run its course or isn't worthy of discussion. That decision should be entirely down to the community. If the community felt a topic had no discussion value, it'd die a natural death since no-one would reply and it'd fall off of page 1 anyway. If a handful of people wanna keep discussing something then so be it. That's why we're here after all. It's a discussion forum which features a wide array of topics and opinions. Locking a thread based on your own opinion of the topic in question is pretty arrogant, imo.

Another issue is when topics get locked here based on the behavior of a handful of individuals who start getting out of hand. It is possible to moderate without just hosing topics, you know. Just delete the offending posts and kick those who don't heed warnings out for a couple of days. It's that simple. Too many times here I've seen moderators just lock interesting or productive topics due to the misconduct of a couple of people when there are a lot better ways of handling this to favor the community. The cynical could readily conclude you were just looking for an excuse to shut something that was inconvenient to you.

I thought of looking for you - to cry on your shoulder and yell, "HELP" but after reading this thread, -- I think everyone needs a shoulder to cry on! Here's mine and a few songs to cheer everyone up and leave them feeling happy ....
(You think, maybe, just maybe some players are so lonely they want and enjoy any attention at all - even negative attention?)

So let's be HAPPY and Sing a song! What a wonderful World!
    How about:
    Don't Worry, BE HAPPY

    In your lifeexpect some trouble
    But when you worry
    You make it double
    Don't worry, be happy......
Don't worry don't do it, be happy
    Put a smile onyour face
Don't bring everybody down like this
Don't worry, it will soon pass
    Whatever it is
    Don't worry, be happy
source: Bobby McFerrin - Don't Worry, Be Happy Lyrics
or How Abouth this happy song: Ready! Sing along if you like:

Red Red Robin .. even though it isn't spring.

When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin' along, along,
There'll be no more sobbing when he starts throbbing
    His own sweet song.

Wake up, wake up, you sleepy head,
Get up, get up, get out of bed,
Cheer up, cheer up the sun is red,
Live, love, laugh and be happy.

    What if I've been blue,
Now I'm walking through fields of flowers,
Rain may glisten, but I still listen for hours and hours.
I'm just a kid again, doing what I did again, singing a song,
When the red, red robin comes bob, bob bobbin' along.

I do hope everyone knows those two songs. You can listen to them on U-tube.

Started reading this thread to catch up on PvP issues of late ( I don't PvP, but like to know what you guys are talking about anyway) and came across yet another great idea:

Wow, that hit me like a ton of bricks because I had never thought about it - and it tick'd me off that I hadn't.... Having stayed with this game since '98, I naturally have all craftsman at max - and make everything I ever need (well, not counting all the obvious drops that we must have) - I must say that a bit of love for Inscription is overdue - don't you think?

Give us a Runic Pen (make it gold or blood red or something different) that can make some kick-a*s spellbooks, or Runebooks that can hold 100 charges - or - omg imagine this: Runebooks that have unlimited charges or that require no charges at all. Take your pick, I could live with either of those.

Isn't the constant dragging of scrolls onto runebooks becoming one of the most stupid click/drag', waste of time wrist movements around for people that like to - oh, let me think - move around a lot ?

I have 4 GM scribes that - at one time or another - all sold Recall scrolls. And if you ask any of the 4 I guarantee you that all 4 would be very, very happy to sell way less of them... (Scribes use Runebooks too, you know)...

Love seeing all the great ideas flowing around here.... Keep 'em coming!

    Just sayin......... ;)

I went to Siege a month back with two characters, one a full crafting template and one a foraging template to use to supply the crafter. I had Mining, Logging, and Alchemy for plants on the forager origonally and have since bought 5 soulstones to add Healing, Anatomy, Focus, and Inscription to the Foragers skills for survivabilty and to be able to eventually make Filled Runebooks & Slayer Mage Spellbooks. I'm gearing my shop up as a supply shop for new players on Siege. With the skills I have on the two characters, I'm pretty much self sufficent for my lifestyle here.

To true. Not an asshat in the land. I think the culture Siege has was what Richard Garriot had in mind when he created UO back in the late 90's.

    And with attitude!

Taking a break would be a good thing. Step back, clear your head, and come back civil. You'll have more people reading your posts that way instead of skipping past them.

And yes, I played fel a fair bit during my early years playing UO. Why I have my attitude towards it that I do. A few years experience in fel did that to people.

A lot of the time when requests are made for some content in felucca there is always someone that pvms that thinks people that pvp are out to take something from those who don't or force them into pvp.

No, it is really simple, we would just like balanced pvp, more content, and pixel crack like everybody else does, but only in fel.

If you don't like to pvp or go to fel, then by all means stay in trammel, but don't come onto a thread bashing pvp/fel requests. And more in particular, if you really do not understand it to begin with.

    *Hugs both Tazar and Kelmo*
ok boys, its time momma stepped in and told jr the jist of this .... PETRA the boys need a cookie (make it two)

Kelmo and Tazar and for that matter any Stratics staff that locks a thread or deletes a post for reasons of rules and proprity is nothing to snap at. We all have bad days and or should I say moods that border on violence. It;s no reason to go off on Kelmo for doing what is his job here to do. I can understand your pique as things you feel are not how you see it. But to be honest what is one persons idea of proper might not be to others.
Your young for a poster so I will give you a little leeway... But I will tell you read over what you type from all angles before you hit that post button. Look to see how it might sound from the other foot so to speak. Would you want someone telling you what your sending? EVERYONE here is due some respect and that includes you.
    Love

As much as I respect you Kelmo, that's a bit unfair, I have been reading these boards for well over a decade (one of the first posts I read was by someone called Leandra, I have no idea why that name stayed in my head hehe) and my posts are not that many. Does that mean my thoughts hold less weight than those who like to reply to posts with every single bit of nonsense that springs to mind to drive up their post count?

What Kelmo is pointing out is not how young that person is but how little he has interacted with the rest of us. First off ... Siege is a great place for many the pvp and such is by choice not a manditory thing. As for keeping feluccians in fel... baby we never left it. But to be honest 99% of the pvp players I know have gotten tired of it. Bored is their word not mine. So you see, keeping them there is not the point.

Dear heart, Kelmo was not being disrespecfull but keeping a firm hand on what could blow up to a full out rant is very hard to do gracefully. If he was too leanient it could escalate to larger perportions in a matter of a few minutes... His pointing out of the infrequency of his posts is in keeping that perhaps the poster might not have a full recognition of what he is starting in light of how few times he has conversed with others here. (we like to keep the bulls out of the china shops as much as possible) Never be in fear to talk to others here in the forums, even if it is a silly post if you have a word it dont need to be mean or anything even just saying how cute is ok.... or Happy Birthday to someone.
I know a good deal of the people here know each other in game, and many would be surprised they know me... the forums is a good place to make friends.

That 'truth' may be something only you see as a truth. Give some thought to how others may view whatever that ''truth' is from their viewpoint. They may see it as 'false' for good reason.

And learned from the experience of those years.

I imagine there are reliable signs when a thread needs to be reigned in, or even locked, and he knows those signs.

I've stated before, and a lot more often than once, if you want a thread to stay open, be civil and don't turn on other posters with personal attacks. None of the mods are against pvp in UO. We are against pvp on our boards.

In reference to Spiritless's comments. Yes it's possible to remove the offending posts, and we do, frequently. But when those posts are merely replaced with more in the same vein and fruitful discussion has ceased isn't it logical to reach the conclusion that the particular topic has run its course?
Leave out the 'attitude' and we won't need the locks.

Incidentally, if anyone is wondering what facets I play on, the answer is 'all of them'.

That is exactly what I always want to point out and get mistaken by many... I have met so many nice people playing reds. They are not the problem... You all know, what the problem is. And infantile anti-socials behave alike everywhere - ingame as well as in forums or outside the virtual world.
