Just want to get some quick info from modders...

    1. Rate your skills at... (0 - 5; 0 being none at all, 5 being an expert)
    a. Lua
    b. XML
    c. DDS
    d. HTML/CSS
    e. Python
    f. Other programming/scripting languages that might be useful with creating, distributing, and educating people about mods
    g. git / github
    h. Subversion (SVN)
    i. Other version control systems

    2. Are you willing to work with other modders?

    3. Are you willing to allow anybody to re-use your work under the condition that they give you credit for any code they use in either a readme file or as a comment in the code?

    4. Are you willing to do your best to make sure any enhancements you make can be taken from your skin in pieces and added to another skin with minimal risk of conflicts?

My basic goal is to have one, giant collection of "stable" skins and mods, and an installer of some sort that people can use to pick and choose what they want. I want somebody with no coding knowledge to run one simple process and end up with the exact skin they want.

I don't want people to have to go to Lucitus' site and get his skin, then download Copper Enhanced from the Modders Exchange, install both, delete something from the Copper Enhanced skin, then copy 7 files from Lucitus' skin (making sure they get to exactly the right spot), then download an extra mod from the Modders Exchange and add it to exactly the right directory, and then open a Lua file and make changes to line 247, and then...
    You get the idea ;)

My problem is I'm spending an average of about 4 hours a month on UO right now, and don't expect that to change very much.

    - d. 1

    2. Yes, absolutely

    3. Sure, in fact, I think the best goal for UI modding as a whole is to create a system that allows the easy mixture of UI textures and UI features. The best option would allow people to select the texture skin theme they want to use, then turn each feature on and off as desired.

    4. Seeing as my current focus lately has been on the textures/graphics aspect, yes. However, I do have to append that this may be difficult in some areas as I have tended to change around the XML for various textures so that the elements "fit" the idea behind the theme better. Case in point would be the reputation halo in Pinco's mod would not work well in my mods since other than the Target Window I do not use the character portraits.

Right now my UO time is light as well due to my own self-imposed "strike" in protest of the devs' lack of support for the client as well as pointing my gaming attention in another direction for a time.

It'd be nice sometimes to want to get back into finishing up my skins but the lack of support from the devs has made that difficult within our modder community due to the lack of morale among us.

Also, I would need to be able to say "The LUA for X is screwy, can someone fix this so that the textures work correctly?" and have a better chance of getting it handled (which the modular system would make it 100% easier because I wouldn't need to worry about it anymore).

Haven't tried my hands at modding yet, so I'm utterly clueless, but if I can help with small things just call on me.

This is a fantastic idea! I'm a bit sceptical, but as a mod-user I say: That's how it should be!

Let's show those devs how it's supposed to be done!

    3. Personally Yes.
But I think GPL is too rigid for Japanese people, for GPL is mainly dependent on US copyrights law. It forces people to be free.... Of cource this is my view and I don't intend to make discussion here.

    4. Yes

Of course. Readme file is fine.
