    Moonglow Marathon - Sunday January 26th 4pm(east)
Where: The meeting place will be the Moonglow Lyceum
    When: Sunday January 26th 4pm(east)
    Basic ideal
It is a pretty simple set up for the race. It will be done in Knock out style, therefore only so many people will be allowed to continue past certain check points. At each of these check points players will be given a map, that has the course plotted on it, OR instructions on where the next check point is. The player will need to follow the plotted map exactly as it is plotted to avoid missing checkpoints. The golden rule to the race is STAY TO THE ROAD. If you stay to the road you cannot miss checkpoints. There are hidden checkpoints along the course; providing you stay on course you cannot miss them. If you miss them you cannot win.
This will be a mounted (foot) and boating race.
If you wish to use your own Boat I will post a map a few days before the event of approved parking locations around the island.

The Rules – Failure to comply with any of these rules will disqualify you.
    · No Gating – you must run or boat as instructed (if you bring your own boat you must run to it…)
    · Keep to the Road (Picture are posted below to describe this better. Rule of thumb no more than 3 tiles from the road. (2d client) IF you do this, there is no way you will miss any check points.)
    · Must Pass all Check Points (there are hidden Check points along the path…. STAY to the ROAD)
    · Must use the plotted course on the in game Map.

How the winner will be determined
Winners will be announced After a tally of checkpoints and times are compared. If checkpoints were missed that player will be disqualified. We have ran this course, multiple times (about 100 times), to obtain reasonable times of finishing the race. No player should be able to run this course faster than we can gate it…
If we catch a player in the act of cheating we will announce it at the end of the race…

3 Squares - still in the race...

    Moon Marathon - 4 steps.png
4 squares off the road - at risk of missing a check point

    Prizes
The Boats will be the token from Moonglow - New Players are encouraged to show up and they will at least receive a free boat. (This is useful to any for training…) When players are knocked out of the race they can go to an area to play games and socialize with other players while the race finishes up.

    First Prize

    Gold Prize
    Other Goodies
    Second Prize

I normally don't give hints: It would be wise to familiarize yourself with the Ingame maps (buy them at the mapmakers). Those that can read a map quickly will have a huge advantage...

The day has arrived, and I would like to thanks Dionysis, GiGGleS, and Frost for their Donations at the Golden Pickaxe Vendors. It makes it worth while doing these events knowing that we have such support from the players. Not to mention how much time the donations save us. Thanks again.

Funny and well planned - i think a race outside of guard-zone might attract more contestants and audience :)

Well thank you everyone. It was a blast. I got to the Lycieum with time to spare. There were a few others but only to watch they said. So far I was the only one running. Then Kelden decided to join along with a Pockets person. I managed to get ahead with Kelden right on my heels. I put my boat into the water as we had to sail to Vesper from there. While I was checking my map to see which way to go I looked up just in time to see someone shooting at me. Not sure who it was but earlier there was a Yarrrrrrr person there taking pot shots at Kelden. Well that did it, I was dead. It was jump off the boat or sail on. I sailed on. They werent going to get the best of me. There were healers at Vesper when I got there, so I got my stuff, left the boat where it was and off I went. The new map said to go through Vesper and then I saw York telling us to head to Britain following the road. I knew the road ended at the swamp and when I got there I saw a line of torches and followed them avoiding the monsters. I arrived at the finish line in Britain but no one was there. Guess I even beat the race officials I was so fast. I love the charger but love my little llama more. Lets do it again.
