I haven't managed to produce a single one since AoS

Is this a bug or have I just been unlucky?

Thanks for any help

I was going to ask that very question myself AND how do you tell if it's mutant just after xpollinating - i mean plain seeds show white so how would you know if you had a white mutant?

I haven't grown a mutant since aos either, maybe im just unlucky too.

I've gotten some mutants since AOS - I've been growing a ton of plants (since they are so pupular with all the decoing going on) and I seem to be averaging about one mutant every 75-100 plants. My luck with them has been kinda iffy though. In 200 plants I might get 4 mutants, then the next 100 I won't see any.

Ladylove - when you get a white mutant the number looks much brighter white than a plain seed number. What I do when I am going through my plain plants is open every plant gump (to the reproduction menu) and then right click through them. If you have a mutant in the bunch, it will stand out (you'll notice the color change). - hope that makes sense.
5. Wasn't threre a post a little while back about how fungus and infestations actually aid in the growth of mutant plants? Or did I just dream it? If anyone has any info on whether or not that's true, maybe they could let us in on it! I'd love to know!

However, fungi and insects are not bad at all....

I think I found secret formula for mutation, which fungi/insects is must!
With this method, I was able to produce 18 out of 194 mutants(12 black, 6 white) on last crop, and next harvest, I will have 14 out of 78( 10 black, 4 white).

Mutation Report 3/28

9 out of 78 (3 black, 6 white)

So this is totaling 41 mutations in 3 days. (41/350, 11.7% mutation rate)
Before this secret formula, I was only able to produce >1%......
whole last year, I was only able to produce 56 mutations.

I wll keep this data and very soon, I hope can introduce this formula to all....

I've read some comment by OSI while back, and said mutation percentage is roughly 3%.
Seems my formula is working. I will keep data and hopeful to reveal this very soon. (I am working on totaling 600 plants, 100 per day)

The White seed indicator of a White Mutant is a much Whiter White than the White of a plain plant, all white? Well, whitey oh, then. /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif

hehe, that yolk was all white (very old tho)

Meanwhile, what's this thing about fungus and insects, where can I read up on that little gem, please???
I also have been growing squillions of plants to supply demand and build a seed bank and have managed only 3 mutants since seed hit pot!!

On the other hand, my seed bank is now about 70% complete, just few dozen more colour crosses to go and I'll have 'em all!!

About fungus & insects, I did many many testing.
And seems I have been successful with raising probability of mutation.
(or maybe its just pure luck......)

Ok so here goes,
1) Do your normal routine till stage 6
2) When your pots bloom, look for plant with a) just insects, b) just disease and c) insect & disease, and separate them from other plant.

3) These will be your father plant.
4) Pick one and cross it with others. *Important* you only need one stud.
save other father plants for later use.(keep them in secure box and make sure they stay red(!).)

5) Cross at least 60-100. and if you get mutation keep it.
6) After so many cross, and if no mutation, try another stud.
7) Repeat crossing

.....if you can find 'The One', it will produce more chance for mutation.
With my experience, 'just fungi' father plant seems produce more mutation than 'just insect'. I do not have enough data for 'fugi & insect' yet.

In last 10 days my mutation rate was 41/350 (11.7%) 25 black, 16 white.

My next bloom started today, and was 2/35 (5.7%) 1 of each color.

....seems working..... but again I might be just lucky.

Newbie grower question.

When crossing in hopes of a mutant, do I need to be crossing color and breed? Or can I use same plants in hopes of getting a mutant?

Color, spicies does not matter.
You can make mutant by plain x plain, bright red x yellow, green x plain .... etc

But only requirement is you must cross breed.
Mutation will never occur when self pollinated.

Good luck,

4/7/03 mutation update :
6/70 (8.57%) 2 Black, 4 White ...Yay 4 lillies!!!

Yesterday, due to patch mess up (they fixed my 'improper' house back to 'proper), I did not get any growth check. So I have no data for mutation for yesterday.

Thanks for the info, Fayetora. I'll try that out. I've only managed 3 mutants in about 150 crosses over the last 10 days or so, anything that improves those odds = all good /php-bin/shared/images/icons/smile.gif

you have to cross to get mutants, right? they won't occur from self polination... ?

*still waiting for her first mutant - but doesn't cross polinate much*
