anyone find one and see what they do. Ill try soon as i get home.
Just be sure you go to the right shard to look ...
Publish 53 on TC1 has been updated with the following:
* Mysterious strangers have been sighted in various of the Virtue Dungeons.
just saying ...
New updates on Test Center include the above mentioned mysterious personages.
I know but what do they do?
Blackrock turn in?
stab then with a glass dagger?
First ive heard of it. Is it somthing i should go look for on Oce or is it a test centre thing?
The notes are for the Test Center update. Dont think its on production shards yet.
And the Glass dagger idea sounds cool. Someone get to stabbing, do it now!!
DO IT, NOW!!!
well ... since there ain't no dungeon of love ... or honesty or valor or ... well "Virtue Dungeon" ... per se ...
likely they meant to say: "Anti-virtue" dungeons ... (listed as "Opposing Dungeon: >name<" ... above linky)
Y'all waiting for ME to find them?
Would that not be a "Stab in the dark"
Britannia's Anti-Virtue Dungeons (that means Covetous, Deceit, Despise,Destard, Hythloth, Shame and Wrong)
- A number of interesting and useful items will now drop in the anti-virtue dungeons of Britannia.
* Katrina's Crook level 11 Arti = 10,000 Points ??
* Jaana's Staff level 11 Arti = 10,000 Points ??
* Dragon's End level 11 Arti = 10,000 Points ??
* Sentinel's Guard level 11 Arti = 10,000 Points ??
* Lord Blackthorn's Exemplar level 11 Arti = 10,000 Points ??
Along with- Mysterious Strangers....Guesses Haven #2??
I just picked up on the fact that it's a virtue dungeon , not an anti-virtue duneon. So what's a virtue dungeon? Is it Fire, Ice or maybe dungeons in Ilshenar?
No, I was just a zombie last night (see Obsidian Blades, value of) - I meant anti-virtue dungeons
just ran all over Despise..... twice.... on test, and could find nothing stranger than an ettin that merely waved at me rather than attack... I'm guessing these guys are sporadic like the ones that appeared in old Haven, ya gotta be in the right place at the right time?
For your information, I'm not mysterious. I was just hanging out.
Oh, and anyone finds um, a frilly shepard dress and gag harness, I really have no idea how those got down there.
I checked out Despise as well. I'm wondering if Test Center is actually running Publish 53. When I logged in, it said Publish 52. I also didn't see any change in the egg color of the bird's nest. I'm not going to test it out anymore until it's clear the correct publish is running.
Ewwww things I would not want to see in UO lol
Anyone find out what's up with these mysterious strangers yet?
ah anti-virtue dungeons I like. Those are places I enjoy being. will they be in felucca too?
Of course, the Anti-Virtue dungeons have always been in Felucca:
sorry I worded my question wrong. I meant to ask if the mysterious strangers would be in felucca anti-virtue dungeons as well.
Jeremy, if you can't hold your head up you should stay away from the keyboard. Not doing so normally ends with painful results. At least its nice to know I'm not the only one that should stay away from the keyboard at times.
Lets hope so because I only hunt in Felucca anti-virtue dungeons. There is just something to be said about avoiding 100 trash spawn mobs while risking the chance you might run into one other player once every month unless someone is doing a harrower.
Since the publish is currently on Origin, I decided to go running around for a bit..havent' run across any mysterious strangers yet....been lookin BUT I did milk a cow first thing..THAT was very satisfiying *grins*
At least you'll always have a job waiting for you at Initech.
Sure it was a cow?
Well obviously your typo means that UO is being imminently shut down, right? You can tell us.
ps: Many of us in RP call them the Dungeons of Sin, a name which I find infinitely cooler and think that the team should officially adopt.
except that the dungeons dont have anything to with sins, they have to do with virtues. also, the virtues and dungeons have been around since before UO, why should we go around changing pieces of the ultima lore?
I hopped on TC1 and checked out all levels of covetous and didnt see any "strangers" , has anyone seen anything yet?
I've run through Covetous, Despise and Destard on Test and didn't see anything out of the ordinary. I also learned a few things about those dungeons I either never noticed, or been so long since I've been in those areas I forgot things were there.
PS: Dev's could we please get a runebook with the dungeons. I love walking through Britainia, but on test it's a pain when you just wanna test. See here for more about this idea.
I also checked Despise on Test Center and didn't find any mysterious stranger.
I did notice a new inaccessible area in the southwestern part of the lowest level (behind the acid elemental's swamp), which looks like an orc outpost. But it's possible that it was added when the dungeon was redecorated for KR, and I just never noticed it until now...
Origin has a mage at WBB saying nasty things are in cove and makes a gate...
Been nasty things in cove for... years
Thats where my ex had a house placed....extremely nasty that one...
Yeah, thats been there for awhile, quite possibly set up as a part of a quest chain in ages gone by.
"Sin," in this context, equals "Anti-Virtue," but it's 3 less syllables, no hyphen, and sounds cooler.
Also, yes, the dungeons were around since before UO, but I don't recall running around in, say, U4 visiting "Anti-Virtue" dungeons, just dungeons.
What, you thought I was talking about making new dungeons called "Sloth" or "Lust" or something?
Saying the dungeons "have to do with" virtues just sounds weird.....Only thing, say, Despise has to do with, say, Britain is that they are opposites. Despise "has to do" with Despise, an Anti-Virtue.....Or "Sin."
I am not changing a God-damned thing about Ultima lore, but if you want to talk about things that are currently in UO that differ from the lore, there's plenty.
the little pop-up scroll claims that test center is still on publish 52, and we can't seem to find any strangers, so, not sure what's goin' on there.... think I'll wait for clarification, my foots are gettin' weary
Oriana, dungeons Despise and Destard are in the rune book in your bank-box on test, but yeah, would be nice to have a full dungeon book
and Stratics staff? thassa whole buncha smileys.......
Test Center, and now also Origin, are definitely running Publish 53 - the rest of the Publish is active. The Test Center pop-up scroll doesn't update automatically - they probably forgot to change the message since last publish.
Let's not forget that event-related stuff is not always automatically activated after a Publish - sometimes it needs manual intervention. Maybe the Devs are waiting until Publish 53 is on all servers before placing the new NPCs in the dungeons.
Silly me I been going to Tram all this time
Oh God! yes Please read that idea I think its one of the best to come along in a very long time. Kidding aside, if they made such a library on TC it would help us out alot when we go to TC to check stuff out, as I said in the link above, I get so dang tired of marking runes to locations only to see them gone when TC is wiped with new changes.
Oh I know those are in there, but to get to Covetous had to hoof it. I wanted to check out the others, but really didn't have time to walk to them all AND snoop around.
To Drake: Hehe, I had to kick in your post it is an awesome idea.
Actually "Dungeons of Vice" would be a more accurate phrase - "Vicious Dungeons" would be equally correct, although it just doesn't quite work. The problem is both "vice" and "sin" have a more religious connotation than is really necessary, and we kinda don't want to go there.
Shall we try coming up with a name?
If Infinity is the combination of the three overarching principles of Virtue, then the opposite of it, that being Mu (nothingness/absence of everything for those not versed in such words), or possibly The Void. So, in other words, we'd need a word that is to Mu as Virtue (in the UO sense) is to Infinity.
Vice fits well, but a bit too much of a religious connotation, as Jeremy said.. so why not Corruption? I'd say it fits well without religious overtones we can't exactly use because of both the T rating and the fact we already have Demons and such and don't need undue activist attention. Plus, it would help cement the Cloak of Corruption as a definitively evil (or at least unvirtuous) item.
Dungeons of Corrpution sound good to everyone?
Corruption sounds good to me.
Quoting also Lord British himself, from the in-game book "Virtue":
Actually it seems that according to LB "vices" are the anti-Virtues while "corruptions" are the anti-Principles, but it's good enough!
Gah.. forgot entirely about that book... man.. guess this means I should go read them all again or somethin.
No need... Caspian beat you to it.
Was there also a whip and tassels with them? Cause I thing I found them.
Actually, that's understandable....Thank you for answering.
