It's annoying and I'd personally feel harassed, but I don't think a GM would respond to it. Spawn stealing is allowed in UO.

& that's ASLO true for the Tamer..... There is no Rule saying just bc you were there 1st it gives you the right to do whatever... It pretty much amounts to what the game mechanics allow is ok... so do it in Fel or deal with it etc..

Yes, but ridiciously invising someone IS a harassment. Stupid!

Just do your farming in Fel:
    1. No one ever goes to 95% of the area
    2. If someone tries to steal your spawn, you can blast them.

    ...

Best you can do is find a new place to camp monsters that won't get covered like that.

Secondly, people WONDER why tamers get a bad name... there's one big instance.

Just because you CAN kill-steal thanks to the game mechanics (really the whole pet speedhack attack thing needs to GO) doesn't mean you're not a jackass when you DO kill-steal.

Yep. It may not be against the TOS, but it is a breach of UO norms and mores.

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

This is right. It was explained before by mods as well.
They jumping your mob does not interrupt your normal game play. For example your GD continues to attack the mod with zero issue. Theres nothing he done to stop your normal game play.

Invising his GD forces his dragon to unflag, you can cause the mob to flag him and end up killing him. He's normal game play (in this case is all kill once and xheal the dragon) is forced t stop because your ACTION. This constitute as physical harassment (in trammel only), other form of harassment including you luring other mobs on to him and invis self and fielding/stone wall people in tram (this is fixed just an example) and so on.

"Kill Steal" is intended game play (thus instanced corpse), as long as he doesnt do something utterly ******** like "invising his dragon over and over".

Again, it's just how it is designed in tram. a.k.a. griefers' paradise.
So you either have to deal with it, do the "kill steal" to others or do it in fel.

Felucia is the only grief-free ruleset, there's only win or lose.

    ...

Tram and Fel BOTH have griefers, it's just different methods of how that griefing is accomplished. Saying Fel is grief-free is a misstatement.

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

Well we have different stand point. You and most trammies thinks "losing" to other players is being griefed.

You know its like you take SAT and score 1400 while your best friend score 1500 (while only spending half your study time to prepare) and takes your spot to your college of dream and you accuse him of griefing you by "stealing" your spot.

Dont farm your stuff in side a guardzone and have a couple reds chars ready, you will never get griefed... again doesnt change the fact that you could still LOSE.

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

Yes you don't own the spawn. No it isn't harassment. It clearly says in the harassment page that you must try to leave the area. It may be rude, but then again it is also rude to claim to own a spawn since you were there first and that they shouldn't be able to kill "your" spawn.

So go somewhere else since this guy can obviously kill faster than you. There are PLENTY of other places to hunt for fame. And fel is damn empty in many of the good places. Plus they spawn faster and have more gold.

Lol, well that depends on the shard I guess. I know on sonma I was able to hunt to my content in fel with no problems. My favorite were lich lords in fire or the evil mage lords in the same area. Mostly the LL's since they were away from the portal.

All I can say since you are just a typical nay sayer. We can do a test. You setup a macro that invis my pet over and over and over and over none stop, and I will pretend using my superdragon and do something in tram... I will test paging you... and please do not stop doing it... see what happen... ok? :coco:

Except no one in your post is trying to tame. So no dice. Failed attempt. That's for a whole different debate. Know it sucks having someone take over your comfortable killing but it happens. Move on and don't let them bother you so much. Or keep on ranting and raving with the answers. It is NOT harassment, it's just rude. And rude isn't illegal, lol. You can come out being the better person or make it worse and stoop lower.

Nice try, but fail. Not your dragon and I'm pretty damn sure the tamer would rather let the dragon die as opposed to them dieing followed by the dragon as a dead tamer can't heal their pet.

Cant lie with it being full life/in town. I will page something like I have huge lag and Im slow at clicking this player is repeadly invising my dragon over and over and I couldnt even get a animal lore target off my pet...

Just make sure if the GM ask you to stop you tell him what you told everyone here (stupidly at best), tell the GM that I was kill stealing your monster so you want to "return the favor" then tell him you will not stop... whatever they say do not drop your balls.

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

This is another one of those amusing posts. But yes, invising a pet Is against the TOS. For the reasons above And because it lowers the pet's loyalty, causing it to eventually go wild. Now if you see a person you "dont like" or harrassed you or whatever who probably isnt paying attention (or afk), go for it - risk getting put in UO jail (i dont think you would get banned) but invis his blaze cu or 10.0 rated dragon untill it goes wild, and then tame or kill it. Your choice!

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

I think (and I am aware its opposite of the viewpoint of the "majority") that Trammel encourages isolation. You see Sammy X owns [insert a boss name here] solo in 15 minutes then next guy Wammy Y comes in and say "ROFL I own [insert a boss name here] in just under 10 minutes I pwn" then Tamer Z comes in and go "We need some buff why sampires solo everything and my super dragon couldnt?"

While to play in Fel, you need to either solo sneak (which is pretty exciting but that's just me) or actually go out and make some friends so you can defend yourself when the "OJs", "Enemies" or "PKs" (or using trammies term all the "the grief-ers") roll in.

But that's just me, I think majorities are rather staying in a land thats 100% safe, then throw up a good fight and welcome people to come in and compete.

Not to deny the 100% safe, never lose to other players, play style, but then why complain when the "inevitable" happens. Especially and thankfully the DEVs actually gave us a choice for being able to kill the golems on both tram OR fel (and not the usual tram exclusive bs).

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

In my opinion it is ..... but unfortunately it's allowed.

Invising his pet or dragging every Ogre and OL in the area onto the jerk is also against the rules.

This is when I put on my big girl panties and just move on since the idiot is not capable of finding their own spot and feels the need to be a complete anti-social pig but ... it's not likely they will change. Sadly chivalry and manners are lost on so many these days.

Of course you could do what I do sometimes... call all your friends to come down there and hog all the spawn. That generally gets the point across.

  25. Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

Ice Fiends give better fame than Ogre Lords anyway...just do that.

  26. Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

For some players, nothing short of a true single player instance will ever suffice. As I said...it is truly sad what UO has become. There was a time that when we wanted fame, we sought to actually best our betters. Imagine that.

Lol. UO has become nothing less that it was in the beginning in this regard. The problem the OP is complaining about isn't new. There were those people from day 1. It's not the game that allows that it's the people and they will always be the same. Dbag tamer. Imagine that.

  28. Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

If someone had done this pre-Tram, the "dbag" tamer (which...isn't this a "personal attack"? Seems like less than a week ago I got an infraction for calling someone this), or whomever, would have just KILLED the offending player, and life would have gone on. No whinning necessary.

    Imagine that.

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

You'll get double fame in Fel.

You also get more fame from ice fiends if you want to hunt in ice dungeon.
The top fame giver I find is Fel thrashers. Bring a cu they bite right through those gators. (edit or if you're playing a paladin a reptile slayer is a 2 hit kill on those)

To answer your question, no it's not harassment. Part of what makes this an MMORPG is the fact that we've got other people playing with us. If you want to fight alone (for fame or whatever reason) you are the one who's going to have to leave if other people show up. Sorry :/

Hm.. Never had such issue. We always got along fine by taking turns.

I liked pre-tram but you can't role-play in fel. Just too many buggers there that seem to have most joy in ruining others play :(

    Take care

  34. Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

    1. We did it long before Trammel.

    and

    2. They are simply playing the role of the "bad guys".

What good is a great adventure without the "bad guys"?

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

This is far from a new thing. When I was newbie enough to be training swords on earth eles in shame there was a bard (not a tamer you notice) who followed me from spot to spot all around the dungeon provoking onto whichever earth ele I engaged in a fight.
I left and went to fight somewhere else.

We'll please leave the tamer bashing and remember that there are players of all skill types who get their 'jollies' by trying to spoil someone else's enjoyment.
Just as there are tamers who will leave and go elsewhere when they see someone already fighting that spawn.

The game is vast, there are numerous other monsters you can kill that will give fame.

For a more constructive turn to this thread, suppose we try to make a list of other targets you could use? I assume you want non-casters. Arctic Ogre Lords have already been mentioned.

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

I would suggest that you consider trying the Arctic Ogre Lord by the water in Fel. Ice is a seldom visited dungeon in fel, being not a champ spawn location and fame is double so you'll achieve your objective more quickly. It's also not very far from the entrance, considering you'd have to run in and out.

But won't work that way these days for the reason I stated.

    NON casters
The Hiryu Fame: Level 5 (18000) Karma: Level 5 (-18000)
The Lesser Hiryu Fame: Level 5 (10000) Karma: Level 5 (-10000)
Slayer Weapon Vulnerability: Dragon Slayer, Reptile Slayer
    The Troglodyte
    Fame: Level 5 (11000) Karma: Level 5 (-11000)
    Slayer Weapon Vulnerability: Repond Slayer

another way to gain fame is ask a tamer you know if they will party with you so you can work your fame up. While the tamer is killing monsters that cast. you can be somewhere else killing non casting monsters. this way you gain fame from the tamers kills, and what your killing.
Like Petra said it goes both ways non tamer or tamer this happens to anyone.
I recall in somewhere and someone is there I leave. Let them enjoy the game. I dont care what kinda character they are.

If I'm somewhere and someone shows up they ask to take turns I always say sure or I let them take the next kill, but if they start attacking what I'm killing. I just attack like they do, some get mouthy, I sit here and laugh while I ignore them mouthy griefers make my day. As I picture them blowing their tops because they cant get to me. I live with 3 of the biggest griefers that use to play UO. One of them use to show up at the elder gazers on a character that I didn't know was his he use to try, and grief me. I got the best of him when I recalled out when the elder gazer respawned, and it killed him. He finally told me that was his character griefing me.

Its up to you or anyone else not to be a victim to a griefer. Being a victim is letting the griefer get to you. Ignore them keep attacking, and once they see they cant get you to leave, or talk to them they leave, and look for their next victim.

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

I know right... complaining about tram ruleset yet QQ harder if they have to step thru that red moongate and have the slightest chance they they will "lose". Fel is deserted, you need to be really "lucky" to get PKed if you are farming in some random dungeon away from any champ spawn/pvp hot spots. I guess tram is the best choice since no player can ever "lose" to others.

And I am surprised there are still people (newb?) that dont go to fel if their main goal is to farm fame/karma. Succibus in fel takes you to 20000+ karma/fame QUICK AND they are one of the easiest mobs that will get you to Knight of Honor.

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

As annoying this behavior may be, the tamer is correct. You don't own monsters or spawns. These issues are regulated by looting rights. Welcome to the world of Trammel!

    [Edit:]
I want to add that in the Early Days of UO there was no Trammel, in many cases you were PKed and robbed before you could carry your loot back home, the land was much smaller and there were WAY more people competing for the same spawn. But still it was more fun than today. Today you can go to most places in UO and do everything by yourself for hours without interruption. If you still feel harrassed by a player then you should broaden your perspective and learn about UO's geography. There are tons of alternatives.

I laughed so hard at this Trammel whining post that I now have to clean my keyboard.

So many "people" won't set foot in Fel for all the absolutely untrue and fabled reasons. Well..there are a lot of players who would never set foot in Tram. We are the ones who take care of our own problems.

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

That is one way to it, yes. But the more usual entrance is the teleporter in t2a. The arctic ogre lord is not along that route. A whole guild of pk's could run through to the champ spot without ever realising you were there - or, indeed, you knowing they'd passed through.

There are 2 Arctic Ogre Lord spawns in Ice Dungeon. About 2 screens apart. You can move faster than they can.

    Re: Does this constitute harrassment?

This is not harrassment as defined by the powers that be. Can it be frustrating? yes, but there are so many other ways/places to get fame/honor, that this one individual at this one spawn should not pose an obstacle you cannot overcome.

See what people have posted above (minus the whole fel/trammel and other whining above), and move on with your game is my best suggestion.

And above all else, have fun!!!
