I've got one gargoyle on my account. He's effectively been a place holder. I only use him as an 120 artificer. I want to turn him into something I can adventure with so he just isn't wasting a char slot. I wanted very much to make him a mystic dexxer, but the suit and gargoyle weapons were very much inferior to my human/elf options. I just can't squeak enough total staimina and SSI onto the suit to swing a Talwar or Dread Sword at max swing speed. So I am back to the drawing board.

What templates are you using on your gargoyle that are effective? I'll add the caveat that I'd like to keep 120 Imbuing on the char. This could replace 120 Focus and pair nicely with mysticism. However, the char would have to obtain mana via another method than focus (i.e. meditation, MR items, HML, Wraith form depending on skills/suit/weapon).

What do you all recommend? What's working for you? I'm open to any and all skill sets (i.e. dexxer, mage, bard, tamer, etc) and gargoyle equipment options. It can be PvM, PvP, or Spawner oriented. I just need some help with ideas and want the character to be more than an one-skill placeholder. Thanks!

I used to have a gargoyle with this template:
    120 magery
    120 mysticism
    120 imbuing
    120 eval
    120 meditation
    120 resist <--> 120 spellweaving on soulstones
I swapped the imbuing for focus when the changes came out. One cool thing is being able to fly when having a rising colossus summoned. :)

Made mine a T-hunter. Most skills still in the 80's. Will drop Eval as needed to get other skills post 120 when the time comes.

    Magic
    Eval
    Med
    Mystic
    Imbuing
    Lockpick
    Cartography

I made a Gargoyle Sampire using Throwing and instead of Parry tossed on Swordsmanship to get rid of the close range penalty. As to weapons why are you only looking at the Talwar or Dreadsword? The Glass Sword you can craft with Glassblowing has a much faster swing speed. As for throwing I prefer the Soul Glave, it's slow but I have 35 SSI for now and will pick up more once I can get a hold of a Berserker's Breastplate, as much as people complain about throwing my Macer with a Diamond Mace isn't doing damage to Navery in the 250 point range on crit hits so the increase damage helps balance out the slower speed.

Thanks all for the inputs. I appreciate them. Keep them coming!

Nexus -- I was looking at the Dread Sword and the Talwar because of the Damage Per Second they are capable of when swinging at 1.25s. But, like I said, i cannot get to 35 SSI (in stone form) and with stamina over 180. I cap out at 178 and can't find any items to get the remaining stamina. And even then, there is no margin to dip below. I did look at the glass sword, but I don't have an alchemst that can craft it at this time. So I was looking at items my smith could make and then I could further imbue. If I run a mystic-dexxer, I want to use a 1H weapon so I can use healing stones. I can't do that with a 2H weapon or with a shield equipped.

I also had thought about a modified sampire. I can't fit in imbuing on that template so it is an option if I want to keep my imbuing on a soulstone.

    Shellybean/Storm -- I thought about running a half-necro mystic mage:

    120 Magery
    120 Eval Int
    120 Mysticism
    120 Imbuing
    100 Meditation
    80 SS
    60 Necro

Main reason would be to use wraith form for mana leech and still have the potency of evil omen, pain spike, and corpse skin. But that was just an idea. If I used Focus instead of Imbuing then I could run 100 inscribe instead of med for extra damage.

I've been using my Bladeweaving/Mystic Gargoyle with great success, tons of fun too.

    Anat - 100
    Healing - 100
    Throwing - 120
    Tactics - 100
    Mysticism - 115 (going to 120)
    Focus - 100
    Magery - 100

12 skills points are on my ring. Magery is for invis and protection, and any other spell I might need. Drop a Colossus and AI away with Soul glave.

He goes 1 handed, so he can heal stone and chug.
