As previous posts stated, i am new here and want to do something with my sammy

    **pvm only**

    i have 2 ideas...

    Temp 1
    120 bush
    120 parry
    120 mace
    100 anat
    100 tac
    100 necro - vamp form
    rest - focus ...

Would this be viable? what about healing?

    Temp 2

Same only with Chiv instead of necro ...

As this is for pvm only, any ideas or advise please?

First template is nearly standard. With latest chiv changes, you need 84 to get the same results as before. Drop parry to achieve that. Sampire without chiv is only usable with elemental damage weapons, for peerless, eoo is still needed.

For a non necro samurai, you need healing. One could probably do with 4/6 chiv casting, but thats expensive to do well equipment wise.
    Something like
    120 weapon
    115-120 bushido
    parry or resist
    tactics
    anat
    healing
    chiv

Hard to give exact numbers, depends a lot on what you want to fight.
With the latest healing changes, that template got some power back.

Well, want to fight a load of different things..

im not going to fight a peerless alone, but with a group ...

i love the necro template but concerned about the lack of healing... :-(

I'm using the Winds Edge mace weapon ...

I'm not dropping Parry, as that works with my Bushido...

Winds edge is best used with wraith form and curse weapon.

Other than that, i will give you only one advice.
DO NOT ask questions in this part of stratics that are asked once a week, and then say the answer you got is s**t. Find out for yourself what temp works best .

    I respect all advice :)

i'm sure whoever gives the advice knows far far more about this template than i would ever :)

The wraith form seems interesting, maybe keep healing and just enough necro for the wraith form :)

Again, thanks for all advice.. a lot for me to think on :)

I would favor dropping parry for either Healing or Spirit Speak. Both provide you a way to heal, & SS will enhance curse weapon. With 45 DCI you wont notice parry being gone. If you need to go on the defensive use Feint. Its a weapon special that good to use against big hitters along with an armored swamp dragon.

It all depends on the way you decide to play.

Ok, have been doing some research...

and with 120 parry and bush with 125 dex i block 40% of time (Stratics parrying guide)
and without parry 5% to block ...

does dci work same as parry? so 45 dci i can totally remove parry from my template?

Get 45% dci, take a weapon without Stam Leach and test how often your parry work (using confidence - how often are you getting stamina back).

    Template I used to run

    120 Swords
    120 Bushido
    120 Parry
    100 Tactics
    100 Anatomy
    80 Heal
    80 Chivalry

Max Lmc, Stam at around 175-180 and over capped dci.

I would take it against anything you would take a sampire against.

Dci and parry are different things. At first a calculation is done involving weapon skills, hci, dci, hld, hla. If the rng decides that you will get hit, parry calculation is done.
If you fight a monster with same wrestling skill as your weapon skill, your chance to get hit is 50% . With 45 dci its 34 %, with hla active its 25 %.
    120 parry blocks up to 40% of that, 120 bushido / 60 parry still 20% with a one-hander.
So reducing parry a bit does not hurt in most cases, exceptions are those pesky high wrestle insanly hard hitting mobs, you will notice the difference then.

The other thing parry does is, it counts as one of the skills that reduce mana cost for weapon specials. You should aim to have 300 points in weapon, bushido, parry on a samurai to get the full discount.
Finding the right balance is up to you and may depend on the things you fight alot.

You have more than enough skill points invested without parry to get the mana discount. Parry doese help, however with 45 DCI the difference is marginal at best. While playing a sampire with parry I hardly ever used confidence or evasion. You can fit healing & parry if you crame enough skill items into a template.

Hi Specialshoes - this is the template I am using - or was using until a few days ago - now I have dropped Chivalry and are going for Nerco instead - main reason was lack healing.....

Still a newbie in equipment - so only got +44% DI + 40% DCI - max all resist, 125 str, 90 dex, 45 int, +24 HP on armor = 136 total hp, think +10 Sta = 100 total sta

    110 Swords
95 Bushido (on its way to 100)
100 Parry (got a 110 scroll - but still considering)
    100 Tactics
    100 Anatomy
    90 Heal
75 Necro (99 with ring and bracelet)

    - newbie - so can only have 700 skills - could prob' take healing down to 80, which then gives me 30 points to play with

I am running with a soul seeker weapon - 40% sta leach + 40% mana leach +30% life leach +60% SSI

But I simply can’t get enough life leach out to keep me alive vs stronger enemies - Titan Paragon is the strongest I can kill - but soul seeker is repond slaying so that helps a lot :) - tried Lich Lord Paragon - then with an undead slaying weapon without life leach - and got my butt handed to me :)

Wondering what / where I should improve to see a difference in survivability? - besides Vampiric Embrace - how can I get higher Life Leach?

Other advises anyone can give - maybe a speciel item or 2 I should try and get my hands on?
Newbie - so money IS a problem :)

    thx in advance
    Trivan

A properly run sampire should not have healing on it. You should be getting your healing from leeching life from what your hitting. Using confidence in a pinch and chugging should handle the rest. If your doing it even remotely right you will not be dying that much. The chiv is helping you hit the damage cap and get around. Healing can be added if your planning on running in a team, but truth be told your better off with the chiv and dropping the anatomy or parry to add the healing using a soul stone to switch based on what your doing.

To be straight forward I do not have a sampire. I have purposely avoided having a sampire template.

I would say do whatever it takes to get your dex to 140 if you are going to use healing. There is a massive difference between 6 second heals and 4 second heals.

    Get your bushido up

Other than that Mirts advice has always been solid for me.

In a sampire temp its more about stamina and what your swing speed is then dex. For healing your absolutely right and I would even say that if you can 150 makes a really nice difference. At least since I bumped up my ABC to 150 dex. Spawns are much easier and more fun now I only die if somebody lures a whole bunch of stuff onto me.

    To each his own.

I use evasion quite a bit, and therefore wouldn't drop parry off my sampire. Honestly, I've been considering dropping Chiv.

Last week, I dropped Chiv, replaced with potions and recall scrolls and really haven't noticed a difference.

Then again, I have a full set of 90% plus elemental weapons for each spawn/creature type.

The weapons will help but it depends a lot on what kind of gear you are using. For the most part while you can somewhat compensate for it the hit to your damage cap isn't worth it. You can chug heal pots much faster then you can make up for the loss of EoO and Consecrate Weapon damage which now gives a bonus to damage at the higher levels. While it is entirely possible to work around this and still have it usable I think its easier for someone to do it the other way. Additionally I would actually recommend that folks trade off Resist and Parry based upon what they are going to be fighting. Soul Stones are a great resource if you can get them. More importantly though his newbie equipment makes chiv more important right now. In time he can experiment and I for one do run a few temps that lack chiv, but its easier to start off with it and then wean off it then try and gear up quickly.
