Does anyone have experience with the following template?

    120 Chivalry
    120 Spellweaving
    120 Meditation
    120 Music
    120 Provocation
    120 Discordance

I was thinking of lowering meditation some & maybe adding some hiding or magery in there to hide/invis from mobs. I would have high SDI for PvM purposes. What do you all think? I know there are more powerful builds out there, but wanted to try something different.

How do you plan to use that skill set?

If you are going to choose between Hiding or Magery, I suggest Magery. It offers more utility than Hiding (heals, cure, invis, rez, summons, gate, recall, mark, etc..). Invis can be recast if revealed w/o the skill delay of Hiding.

Well he would mostly be a group character with the ability to cast some offensive spells - word of death, holy light, wildfire, etc & have the healing/curing spells, gift of renewal with 4/6 casting. This would be in addition to the 2 bard skills plus music for crowd control/group play. I am not sure how powerful nature's fury are on a discorded monster. Would he be effective in doom?

I think this character would certainly have some effectiveness in a group. However, I question the effectiveness of Chilvary without a weapon skill. Also, Spellweaving will be limited as you will have to depend on others to form a circle with a level high enough to make that one worthwhile.

If you are going in a group, probably an ok supporter. If alone, probably not so much.

I suggest you try the template out on Test Center (at no expense to your real character's funds and time). You may find that the Chivalry spells a bit lacking and you may find more utility with Magery. Support characters generally succeed more with greater utility.
    • Close Wounds (heal) has a limited range of a couple tiles, so this may be a problem. Equivalent to Greater Heal at high Karma Levels.
    • Cleanse By Fire (cure) is comprable to Arch Cure, but does not have an Area of Effect.
    • Remove Curse does not have an equivalent in Magery. It is the best (and my favorite) Chivalry Spell. It is really usefull when cast on Warriors and pets, who have been cursed.
    • Consecrate Weapon is target self only and not very effective when used without warrior skills (weapon, tactics, etc).
    • Sacred Journey is the same as Recall.
    • Divine Fury is target self only and not very effective when used without warrior skills.
    • Dispel Evil is equivalent to Mass Dispel, but the casting methods are a bit different. Dispel Evil is radial, caster centered, but Mass Dispel is radial around a target. This will allow you to be a safer distance away.
    • Enemy of One is target self only and not very effective when used without warrior skills (weapon, tactics, etc).
    • Holy Light is radial, caster centered so it may but you more in the fight than desired.
    • Noble Sacrifice will leave you just about dead if used. Though Noble Sacrifice can handle multiple targets at once, the rare times you need to use that feature is either in the way back of an event OR when things are going terribly wrong and now you are the target (SOL). Ressurection can be just as usefull.

But it does not hurt to try, especially on Test Center (that is what it is for).

Magery will allow you to utilize Mage Weapons for added defense, so you can stay alive and help your group.

i run chiv on a couple toons just purely for healing and curing and such, thieves and such, works good, none of them have any weapon skill.

but for what your doing, going in for some high end hunting i would have to side with the others, youd find more use and versatility with magery over the chiv.

just for the fact that there are 80% more spells, and the summons that you can use ect ect ect.

BUT, it all depends on your game play style.

do like BG said, head over to test and give it a try.
roll around in your mouth, get a good taste of it before you decide.

Maybe he wants the chive for holy light? If thats the case necro's wither or weapon skill's whirlwind or the better of the three IMO mystic's hail storm for area attacks on lower level champ spawns. At least thats what Im thinking hes going for!

With the necro though you may be able to give up meditation for the wisp+wrathform or lich form. I know I run these forms and never have mana issues.

Thank you all for your input. I think I am going to drop Chivalry in favor of Magery & try to work the skills (with items) to fit some eval in there for damage.

I didn't want to use Mysticism for this build as I plan to make a discord mystic on my fisherman so he will be effective in the end game of fishing. Not that you knew that of course. :)

  12. The only problem I see with the advice given is that if he sticks with Chivalry he can use 4/6 casting, which would benefit both Chivalry & Spellweaving in the template. If he goes magery, the max would be 2/6 casting. 4/6 Casthing can be pretty awesome.

However I agree that the limited range of close wounds limits it's usefulness in a group setting, and that magery would have many more all-around uses and would be much more useful in a bard setup.
